I want to keep the streak alive. The record is 29 years and I believe we could reach that mark if we just survive and retool for another year or two and squeak in.

Why oh why is #16 not in the rafters yet? What are they waiting for? They should do it while he is still young enough to enjoy it in person.

 

This is great news though. Vladdy is in my top 3 favorite Wings of all time.

I'd like to hear someone stand up and guarantee this team makes a playoff spot. Maybe someone like Hank who won't let the streak be broken on his watch as first year as captain. Even if they don't make it, this team needs a spark and they really don't seem to be playing with one.

Lol so I guess you were expecting 20+ goals from Brunner this shortened season. He has kept up fine with the physicality. He hasn't been getting pushed off the puck and has 11 goals in 35 games so far which we would take from any rookie. Oh and I guess Lashoff was supposed to be the second coming of Lids in his rookie season. There was absolutely no reason to expect any more from these two players than they have shown thus far.

It's no denying Illitch would rather have a world series ring versus one or two more stanley cup rings but to say he is spending money on the Tigers that could otherwise be spent on the Wings probably isn't true. There is no cap in baseball so he treats them like he used to treat the Wings. He has to be more careful about his spending with the Wings and pick his purchases a lot more wisely. Even if it isn't actually him making the decisions on who to sign, he still signs the checks. So I don't agree with you saying Mr. I is being cheap with the Wings. He is just dying for a world series ring... no pun intended.

I called the loss... I just didn't think they had it in them to keep up the consistency. Hopefully they can get back in the W column these next two games at home.

What's with all the Monster hate on here? He played lights out the one game he came in place of Jimmy when he wasn't expected and he got left out to dry the latest game in the 3rd. As much as he isn't Jimmy, he can still be a capable back-up and provide this team with the chance to win. The team just needs to show up in front of him also.

 

I don't think most are hatting on Jonas. It's just tough for any goaltender to play so inconsistently especially because of injury problems and come in and play very well once in a blue moon. He has the skills but the team is going to have to play tighter defense in front of him or just get a comfortable lead so he can play with more confidence.

I'll be able to see a period or so before I head to the airport with my girlfriend. I hope I can start my vacation on a great note with a win especially because I have a 3 hour layover in Chicago on the way to Florida. I'll be sure to wear a Wings t shirt underneath my jacket and if they win, I'll take the jacket off in Chicago lol.

Even Babcock said the goal tending needed to be better so the Howard lovers need to calm down. He stepped up and answered the call today. Consistency has always been his problem so if he can keep it going that will be great for us.

 

I still think it's a waste to have Cleary and Abs on a line with Dats... Put Tatar on his line or something.

Yea, Howards not the guy. I'm sure the next time he stand on his head in 10 games or so everyone will love posting in this thread singing his praise but he is so average it hurts.

I haven't been so disgusted over a loss in a loooong time as I was last night. It sucks to have the whole pitching staff pitch lights out. Even Benoit who has been horrid of late pitched as good as he could and then one man comes in and f***s up the whole thing. That's what makes baseball special though. It's a team sport but in many ways it's not.

I still think the Tigers will win tonight. All season long they have played well with their backs against the wall and while I know the A's now have momentum and they are at home and probably the better all around team, I think someone... maybe Cabrerra and Verlander are going to simply will the Tigers to victory. Verlander might pitch a complete game or Cabby might get 4 hits with 5 RBI's or something but it's going to happen. I have faith.

The Swedish love affair needs to end.  The Kings used how many "slick/clever/mobile" euros last season?  Oh yah.  None.

Yea it's not like we won the cup in 2008 with a bunch of Swedes or anything. Oh yea and I guess Kopitar was born in that other Slovenia that isn't located in Europe.

I'll always remember that day. I had a little league baseball game. I believe I was 12. My dad brought this old school TV into the car and would honk every time the Wings scored and my whole team would start cheering especially because the honking was so frequent. I can't remember a damn thing about the baseball game I played but I don't think anyone can. I still have the newspaper from the next day at my home. What a game.

We are NOT that deep, as most farm boys who we've been giving shots to have really been disappointing thus far. Kindl, Emmerton, Mursak to name a few. You think these guys are the future? Sure, there's potential in Nyquist and Smith but it's way too early to tell and I see 3rd line at best. I mean, Babcock himself commented on his brilliantly after we got eliminated, basically saying we were putting 3rd and 4th line guys on our 1st and 2nd. I mean, Abdelkader a 2nd line center? Give me a break.

Please tell me how those three, especially Mursak in his short stints have "really been disappointing." Are you expecting them to score on every shift? Mursak brings the same speed and energy we see from Helm. There is no way if Nyquist pans out to his full potential, that he is a 3rd liner at best. If he adds a little strength to his game, he would compliment the 1st or 2nd line great next year. Who cares we lost in the first round. It wasn't our year. That doesn't mean we automatically don't have a good team. Do Pitt and Van have terrible teams as well?
