#2314659 Zach Parise agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild

Posted by Electrophile on 04 July 2012 - 12:17 PM

I understand people are disappointed we didn't land either of these two players, but too many of you are absolutely overreacting. We didn't sign a couple of hockey players, it's not like the President was just shot. The amount of teeth-gnashing, wailing, hair-pulling, and manic frenzy is disproportionate to the event.

Everyone just calm the hell down.

#2314492 Ryan Suter agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild

Suter wanted to come to Detroit... Parise didn't... Suter signs wherever Parise wans to go. These guys don't give a s*** about winning they just want to get paid and have fun. I'm sorry but this is just the way that American born players are. The stanley cup isn't their end all be all. It's weird cause most other nations are passionate about the cup but it seems as time goes on players are choosing $$ and lifestyle over being a champion

Who cares where either of them are from? They want to get paid. They're allowed to do that. Get over it.

Time to sh*t or get off the pot. Either you want to play here or you don't. Same goes for Parise. We're the Detroit Red Wings, not some neophyte hockey club. Our reputation precedes us.

The Red Wings are probably a good 12 hrs away from standing outside Suter's house holding a boombox over their heads that's blaring In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel.

This is starting to get creepy. We're practically stalking the dude.

Aww, thank you guys very much. As for someone doing something nice for me, I don't have anyone in my life who'd be responsible for an action like that, aside from my parents. My dad did take my mom and I out to lunch, which was very nice of him. I would have been happy with just a card.

And don't worry Linda, I'm getting that Starbucks later. Venti mocha frappucino with chocolate whipped cream and mocha drizzle on top. *drools*

1. Aaron Downey
2. Robert Lang
3. Dominik Hasek
4. Roberto Luongo

My logic is undeniable.

The fact you left out Uwe Krupp, Sean Avery, Mathieu Dandenault, and Stu Grimson tells me your logic is a tad bit on the faulty side.

#2304234 Nick Lidstrom retires after 20 seasons

Didn't Kenny Holland say he'd retire when Nick did? How soon can we get Yzerman on a plane?

What if they were to offer the C to Zach Parise if he becomes a wing? Think that would offend anyone?

Offend is the wrong word. "Infuriate" might be better. No slight on Parise's talent intended, but in order to get the "C" in this town, you have to do more for the Wings than just show up.

It's been Hank's job since he signed that contract. Pavs will take a permanent A, so will Kronner more than likely.

#2303940 Thank you #5

"Thank you" seems trite, honestly. I feel like it doesn't quite express the full breadth of our gratitude. We need to come up with something else.

#2303938 Nick Lidstrom retires after 20 seasons

We've been mightyf****** privileged to watch the players we've seen over the years, and Nick is certainly no exception. First home game of the '12-'13 season better see #5 get raised to the rafters.

It's going to suck like hell to see the Wings take the ice without him, just like it was after Steve retired. Ugh. What a brutal month this has been for me, not just personally. Can't wait for June.

If it's a press conference, he's done. We all knew this day would come eventually, no matter how much none of us want to see it. I will say that I'm not going to be overly optimistic about this team's future without him. I foresee dark days ahead for a while. We could weather the storm after Steve retired, but Nick is a horse of an entirely different color.

Got damn it. :(

#2297350 #7 Washington Capitals vs. #2 Boston Bruins

Posted by Electrophile on 26 April 2012 - 06:43 PM

so you're saying that almost all Boston sports fans are trash because they make hate-filled statements based on generalizations about a group of people that is actually large and diverse?

Ooh, aren't you cute. Lemme get you a cookie. I've been to Boston. More times than I can count. To see several different sporting events from several different sports. I have family living there. I know people from there that live here, and have lived elsewhere that I have lived. It's a racist city. I've heard it described as a Southern city in the Northeast. I was at a Dunkin Donuts near Fenway Park once, not long before a Yankees/Red Sox game, and heard not one but three people refer to black players on the Yankees as "n-words." As in, "I hope we beat those n-words" and "f*** those n-words." This is Boston circa 2009, not Atlanta circa 1949. To take sports out of the equation entirely, I was visiting a friend who attended Boston College and overheard someone refer to a black woman who got off the T as a "******* darkie." Again, this is in the last few years, not 60 years ago. To say that I'm not surprised about the comments directed toward that black hockey player is to say I'm notf****** surprised, considering the source. The same would be true if I was talking about Klansmen referring to the President. There's a reason many black athletes have said they hate playing in Boston, especially as visiting players, because of the racial hostility coming from the fans. I'm not pulling this s*** out of my ass, here. This is stuff I've seen with my own four eyes (I wear glasses) and my own two ears.

Go mess with someone else. Surely there's a clone of mindfly s***ting on the Red Wings around here somewhere.
