Please, how about pride? Z is known as one of the hardest working players on the team and in the league. I doubt he has just given up because he has "nothing left to prove".




I agree with this. Granted I don't know the man personally, but based on interviews I've read/seen with him and what people who've met him have said....he doesn't strike me as the kind of person who'd just "phone it in". Hank's having a bad season yes, but I sincerely doubt it's because he's just saying "f*** it" every time he goes out there. They're all trying, it's just not coming out the way we want it to. Insinuating that anyone on the team, especially one of our assistant captains is "giving up" because they've got a metric ton of trophies/awards, is strange. We don't attract that kind of element. No way the team brass would dish out the kind of contract on him they did or groom him to be Nick's successor at captain if they thought he was capable of phoning it in.

I've answered that question about 10 times since I first mentioned I was a fan. No offense, but I'm getting a little tired of having to explain why I root for this team or that team. However to go ahead and satiate your undying curiosity.......


When I was in 6th grade (1994) my very good friend and her family were from NY. Her dad had season tickets to the White Sox so he could see the Yankees whenever they came to town. I went with them to a game one Saturday afternoon and started following the team with her. It's been what.....16 years now?

Thanks, Jedi. For what it's worth, site Boosters have been using the new skin (in it's work-in-progress state) as an option since last night. It'll be released soon -- the plan is sometime tonight.

As for the Reputation system, I changed the allowances for some member groups. (And yes, I can limit the daily allowances for both positive and negative rep by member group.)




Please don't feel you have to rush anything. We ALL can wait until you have the time to work on everything. No one here is going to drop dead if the new skin isn't ready or the new wallpaper isn't done, and frankly it's insulting to be so demanding to someone you don't know, for something you don't pay for. Just my $0.02.

I don't like the reputation system either. We've clearly seen in this thread how it's being abused by people who are just going around giving negative points to people they don't like, regardless of what the post actually says. How does that promote a friendly and welcoming forum atmosphere?

I'm sure I'll get a slew of negative points for saying that, but anyone who does is merely demonstrating their immaturity. I feel bad for people like Jack (SWF) who always make solid and positive contributions to the board, and are getting caught up in this.

A loss is a loss.  There's no such thing to me as "Degrees of Losing", wherein certain types of losses are seen as better than others.  The whole point of any competitive game, especially sports, is to win.  Baseball, soccer, hockey, basketball, football.....whatever.  


If the Wings lose 10-0 in regulation or 1-0 in OT, they still lost and it still sucks.  The latter isn't more palatable to me just because they didn't lose in regulation.

If you don't win the game, you don't get any points.  It doesn't matter to me if it was a regulation loss or an OT loss.  Teams should only be rewarded for winning their games.  You don't see this in any other sport - can you imagine if the MLB did something like this?  "Oh it's okay if you lose in extras, we'll give you a win in the standings just for hanging in there for 9 innings."  


1 point for an OT loss is the hockey equivalent of a mercy f*ck.  It's telling teams "Hey, don't worry about winning.  Just get it to OT and we'll throw you a bone."

I don't think you're understanding my point.  The Wings play the Penguins.  After 3 periods, the score is tied 2-2.  We go to OT.  After OT, the score is still 2-2.  In the standings, it counts as a tie but no points are awarded because neither team won.  You're making this more complicated than it need be.


3 points = regulation win
2 points = OT win
0 points = loss,  tie


See how only teams that win their games are rewarded?  You get one less point for winning in OT, since you couldn't win in regulation.  If you came up bupkiss.....oh well.  Better luck next time.

Why?  There was no winner.  You only get points if you win the game.  A tie is not a win.  It's not a loss, but it's not a win.  If you can't win the game, you get jack s***.

Count me in the group that says "eff the shootout".  It's stupid, it's a gimmick, it should be reserved for the ASG or similar competitions, not games that count in the standings that affect playoff chances.  It's ridiculous.  

Furthermore, I'd like to see them re-do the points system.  You only get points if you win the game.  If you lose the game, you get no points.  Stop rewarding teams who failed to do their job in the 60-minute allotted time frame.  You play three periods.  If the score is tied, you go to OT.  If the score is tied after OT, it's counted as a tie in the standings and neither team gets any points since nobody won.

Should have been for far longer than that, but I suppose beggars can't be choosers.  Not that I'd ever wish physical harm on anyone, but  maybe if he suffered from a hit like the one he levied on Mikael Tam, he might be less inclined to do it to someone else.  Karma running over his dogma, if you will.

How much time does it take to issue a memorandum saying hits to the head are banned, and anyone found in violation of that will be suspended without pay for however long the person they hit is out of commission?  The person you hit is out for the year?  So are you.

I'm pretty sure immediate execution is the proper punishment for sexual predators.  So put a bullet in his head and send his family a bill for it.
