#2176116 (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (2) San Jose Sharks

Posted by Shoreline on 16 May 2011 - 01:22 AM

WTF are you talking about? How does Nashville factor into this. a) we beat them and b) we are talking about past year's "chokes". Chicago won the Cup last year. Anaheim in 06-07.

Minnesota was a choke, WHICH I MENTIONED (not directly but I did mention them as being the team we lost two). Against Detroit, maybe, but you guys were by far the better team. The fact we were up 2-0 was a miracle. That was a completely different team aside from the Sedin's, so no, why should I bring them up?

Well, I could have pointed out how horrible your English is (or perhaps your skill at not mentioning things that you claim to mention), maybe enough to confuse yourself, but if this isn't enough..

Who did they play exactly in the second rounds? Oh, right, the Stanley Cup Champions (twice).

I pointed out they played Nashville in the "SECOND" round. Chicago was the "FIRST" round. This season, duh.. Chicago were not defending Cup champs last playoffs when Vancouver played them. Fail. Irony post is ironic.

#2013281 Sharks sign RFA Niklas Hjalmarsson

LMAO. Is this sarcasm? First of all, the Bowmans didn't "go for broke" and sign a million players, that was the all-knowing Dale Tallon, the Bowman's simply inheretid that mess after the deed was done.

In what way are they doing a good job at all? They've already lost about every single player that could. They only reason they are getting picks is because they literally do not have any other financial option but to dismantle their entire team...

I love the Bowmans but... a used band-aid could be doing what they are doing right now...

Take off your Homer glasses and see the facts: Chicago Blackhawks 2010 Stanley Cup Champions. Detroit Red Wings 2010 also rans.

That is the Hockey's Holy Grail grabbed by the nuts. Mission accomplished. Talon, Bowman & Bowman, whoever, hockey is back in Chicago after a long, long absence. They could have farted around like Toronto and not gone anywhere and not gotten any picks in return for going no where. But instead, Chicago took the bull by the horns and won the frickin Stanley Cup. And now they have a 2010 Stanley Cup and better picks than the Wings do.

The Bowman's were handed a great roster that would self destruct at the stroke of midnight after the '09-'10 season, and they are getting a lot more out of the scrap pile than anyone thought they would.

A core group of awesome talent (a ton of Olympians), and some periphery players to fill in and step up. Where's the sarcasm you're hoping for?

It's one thing to hate your rivals, but it's another thing to underestimate them.

They weren't all attemtpted, Nylander is a prime example of this. I think what it really comes down to is whether Huet wants to play goal or not. He can try to negotiate a contract with the KHL where he is guaranteed to be the #1 goalie for a team or he can stay in Chicago, make his 5 mil and not be certain whether he's going to play or sit on the bench. They clearly don't have any faith in him and its not certain if he will be the sure fire #1 goalie even if Niemi was to leave.

Radulov was under contract as well, but once again, is another Russian... as is Tverdosky... most French or English speaking players won't want to go to the KHL unless they are from the North Baltic regions, as the lifestyle is not optimal for non-Russian speaking players and the medical attention is ATROCIOUS and downright dangerous at times as well...

Nylander is in the SEL, not the KHL by the way - much better relationship between the 2 leagues

I am pretty positive that Bob McKenzie suggested Huet to the KHL was a possibility...and he is far from asinine...

Please show me an article from him actually suggesting this as a solution, I am yet to find one.

Called ppl asinine and unreasonable and stuf whilst claiming huet was canadian and saying he couldnt go to khl, etc. just sayin

I never called anyone asinine, I merely said that the suggestion that the KHL was a realistic destination for a player making 5.6m US (which he would forfeit to jump over there) was asinine - not the person, nor the debate.

Nobody got destroyed. TO me it has been friendly banter on the legitamacy of the Hawks ability to shed cap space via Huet to make room for Hjalmarsson.

I think its just been a debate, no destruction...

That was my point of view on the whole topic as well... I never took anything you said to be disrespectful and never intended any of my points to be either...

From what I've read, it seems and Huet and the hawks are working out a deal to have him play in Europe. That way, his salary wont count against the cap. they will still have to pay him though (unless the European team is willing to pay part of the salary)

Any sources? If there are credible sources suggesting this, I would genuinely like to read them and I think it would add a LOT more validity to this argument in my mind...

No
With out Hanks beard in the playoffs the team would crumble, plus I hate Ryan Getzlaf's face. The dude's face makes me want to slap it.

Um...no?

Zetterberg is the better player, and trading him before he starts to decline (and probably even after that) would put a black mark on this franchise in relation to loyalty that would take decades to recover from.

I'm sure they will never trade Getz for Zet alone. That's my opinion. And it basically says that Gets is better than any player in our roster. Are you in favor of this trade? No? Why? Should we add?

Can someone explain to me why Ottawa pissed 5.5 mil away on a 36 year old veteran offensive defenseman when they're supposed to be rebuilding right now?

#2002152 Blackhawks playing Wings for banner raising game

Posted by HockeyTownHouligan on 21 June 2010 - 07:35 PM

Yes, I have no doubt in my mind the Leauge's motive for this was not to underline a historic and at times great rivalry between two of its most followed and historied franchies, but rather as a shameless way to insult us.

Seriously, it was probablly planned, but do you honestly think that was the motive?

Yea i hope im not sounding all conspiracy theory on everyone but its just a little suspicious. Thats why i just said if the wings can get anything from this hawks love fest is to get motivation to beat the living piss out of em and spoil the party.

#1996694 Chicago Tribune runs pic of

Posted by Electrophile on 09 June 2010 - 12:32 PM

This thread is full of funny. A bunch of people who probably wouldn't even know what the Chicago Tribune looks like if not for this ridiculousness that shouldn't have been printed, commenting on the quality of a paper that you don't even read, in a city you've never been to or haven't spent a significant amount of time in. What's even funnier is that some of you have said about 10x worse about Pronger and other players, insinuating they're women/feminine and/or ***, totally unaware of the offensiveness of those statements.....all the while using the cop-out that because this is the internet, that somehow makes it better.

The Trib shouldn't have printed that, I'm in agreement with you there. My dad even told me this morning he was surprised they went with it, since the Sun-Times is usually the paper that runs the low-brow stuff. That said, if you think this is indicative of the paper as a whole or the quality of the work they do put out, you're crazy.

Yeah like that goal in game 2, that Ladd goal. Our defense just isn't fast. THe Draft couldn't come any sooner.

And I can't believe i'm rooting for Pronger to win the cup.

Uggg I know. Same here.

I can't believe there are Wings fans on here that say they want the Hawks to win. That's like saying you want the Avalanche to win.

Speak for yourself. I've been on the record here more than once stating Heatley should still be prison.

I've seen no one bash Heatley. All the focus is on '20 cent'. LOL epic fail. (Not speaking directly to you.)

LOL. Kane "punches a cab driver". And everyone flips their s***. Heatley kills a teammate with asinine driving and no one cares.
