oh man. wings lost big and that was a heartbreaker. but nothing like ending the night on a good note. CBC does a thing called After Hours where they interview someone from their late game,( pending on whos playing ). Tonight it was Vancouver vs Anaheim (nucks lost 7-3) but tonight they are interviewing Teemu Selanne. He is one of my Absolute Favourite players of all time, very classy guy. when i lived in winnipeg in the early-mid 90s, i went to a couple Jets games and he was just brilliant! I will really be sad the day he does decide to hang them up. The NHL will truly lose another amazing player to ever lace them up. Maybe when he retires he can become an actor like in this. 

 

 

It's the first game of the season, these guys have not played NHL hockey in nine months, and there has been significant personnel turnover. The wrinkles will take some time to iron out.

 

Those of you who have concluded, based on this single game, that the season is over should consider quitting right now.

As people here say when other teams sign free agents..........OVERPAID!!!!!!

I keep checking LGW hoping to see a new SIGNED/TRADED thread.  Right before it loads up I tell myself, "Here it comes..."  Annnd nothing.  Yet.

We'll have McKee and Bodin in a few years...no worries about big and strong hitters...

Of course LIdstrom is gonna work for the Wings over there, did anyone expect anything else? You know what I want? Someone in Russia finding the next Fedorov/Datsyuk...

This is the consolation Cup for those who got eliminated or didn't make it to playoffs.  

not really. maybe from North American point of view it looks like this, but for European players this event, played almost always in Europe, is a big deal.
mind you... it's normal time for people here, we can watch the game without losing sleep, and for a big number of fans it's a chance to see home grown
talent. and for those players its a big chance to represent their country which at this side of the pond is still important.

in short: just because it is outside US/North America doesn't mean that it is worse...

If he was healthy, he would be playing more often.
This is not a surprise that he doesn't play every game, since he has never played a full season in the NHL.
He's a little guy, in a tough sport, he plays awesome for his size but that also must wear on him.
The bottom line is, you don't sign someone for 3 years if that player is cancer.

LOL, are you guys serious? Just because we beat them and they may move doesn't mean we should give them any sort of respect and certainly any credit (credit for what?!?).  What did they do that's so great? 6th in the West (big deal), swept first round, have never won a playoff series.  If this was any other team we wouldn't even think twice.

Bye bye Phoenix; there should never have been a hockey team in that city to begin with.
