#2411606 WCSF Game 5 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4, (DET leads series 3-2)

Posted by Jasper84 on 25 May 2013 - 07:57 PM

well so far it seems im right about that turning in my gut that said it wasn't happening tonight

Dude, stop being so negative. If you feel we're going to lose tonight, keep it to yourself. Some of us came on here tonight to watch the game and enjoy ourselves, not read over and over how you know we're going to lose before the puck even drops.

Anyone else feel like eliminating Chicago would be just as sweet as winning the cup?

Why not both? :)

#2303886 Nick Lidstrom retires after 20 seasons

Posted by fixxxer on 30 May 2012 - 03:44 PM

Here's my uneducated guess.

I imagine Kenny and Lids had a discussion like this.

Kenny: Hey Nick, I've been looking at our payroll and I'm confident that we can retain all of our FA this year. I think this is an wonderful opportunity to for our veterans to continue the path that they are on. I will "save" our money for the trade deadline and "go all out" and see what happens. I really like where our team is at right now.

Liddy: Oh great! I have wonderful news as well! Kenny call in the reports and set the press conference for tomorrow afternoon.

Kenny: Oh this is great news you'll be staying another year!?

Liddy: f*** no, If****** quit.

Kenny's dream summer acquisitions will stat with the fall of Lidstrom retiring and continue without signing anyone of importance or players that are over the age of 35.

#2289161 Preds not allowed to play ping pong at Joe Louis Arena

I don't think he would care about that. I think the point of it was, "don't use our s***." You can play your wiffleball all you want.

that ping pong table might of had a red wing germs on it,so i am glad that bertuzzi took it,would not want the preds players to catch something before they take game 4 tomorrow

Dave Strader (who many of us remember well) is covering the series for NBCSports. He reports that after the morning skate today the Preds were using the ping pong tables outside the dressing rooms to relax. Big Bert stepped out, told them that if they wanted to play ping-pong, they'd have to bring their own table; then he folded the table up and wheeled it into the Wings room. CLASSIC!

GO WINGS

#2284786 Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

Posted by cprice12 on 13 April 2012 - 04:12 PM

No-Check, No-Slap pick up games don't apply here kid, glad you play hockey and you finally found a way to fit that in to a discussion.

I played growing up, then in college, and then after college in men's leagues.
But hey...you can call 'em "no-check", "no-slap" if you like.
Whatever makes you feel superior on the interwebs.

Maybe I'm wrong. But I just don't see it. I'd love to see a pic of the helmet to see how it broke.

Wow that's going a long way to explain away his helmet cracking.

While I believe you've been wearing a helmet most of your life,

I expect better from a mod. Shame on you.

from your expert opinion as someone who wears NHL helmets, you can tell that there's no way it cracked in three places? In spite of you having not been at the game. Not having touched or inspected the helmet, or having even gotten a good look at the helmet before or after the headslam. Given that total lack of information, the most logical conclusion to you is obviously Zetterberg's lid was ready to blow at any second from general use over the course of this season, not from him getting his head slammed into the glass.

Makes sense.

I've seen helmets take a lot more abuse than the turnbuckle play on Zetterberg and be fine.
I'd like to see a pic of the helmet where it cracked. I'd bet the helmet itself didn't crack, but the cracks occurred on the shield where it attaches to the helmet.

And to the rest of you tossing personal jabs. Stay classy.
I'm just discussing the play. Sorry if you can't handle it.

Oh yeah? Somehow I don't find it hard to believe it was your screen name attached to this post.

Anyone who has played hockey (like I have for most of my life) and has worn NHL level helmets, knows a helmet shouldn't crack, and in 3 places no less, from something like that.

Again...maybe the visor cracked where it attached to the helmet, which I can see...but not the helmet itself...no way. Sorry. If it did indeed crack, it was probably already weak from previous impacts over the course of the season.

Maybe he just needs to switch helmet brands.

I don't understand how people are angrier at Webber then they are at the Red Wings lack of response. I sure am glad I got to watch hockey when it was good! Get some of the classics kids, or take up Lacrosse.

Don't even try it. This is NOT classic hockey. I've been watching since 1968; I never saw anything like this happen. It was always man-to-man. Elbows, stickwork, that kind of thing, but grabbing your opponent's head and banging it into the boards, never. Good physical hockey is great. This isn't hockey.
Go watch WWE.

Yeah, diving is TOTALLY the problem here. Darn that Zetterberg, smashing his own head against the glass! It's an abomination!

he didn't smash his head against the glass, it jsut wasn't hard and he sold the injury, he wasn't injured.

Wings deserved to win this game. If anything, I'm more confident about this series after this game.

Absolutely. Wings PK handled the Preds PP, Jimmy was great, they just got fluke goals. They're a good team but Wings are more than able to take this series.

Gotta say though, Emmerton is a waste of space. Get Nyquist in there. And talk some sense into Stuart.

Hopefully Datsyuk wakes up, I hate to say it but he's gotta step up. Doesn't look like he's 100%.

Good effort by the Wings and hopefully they take Game 2.

I'm sorry, but that really is how much I love Torts. Got a man crush. I shall now refrain when unneeded!

I get it. I've been known to use colorful language - I'm not against it. It should just be used sparingly is all. The word "freakin'" works pretty well for me. Feel free to use it. :)
