I can't take it seriously when words like "toughness" and "manliness" are mentioned when talking about hockey. It's a game after all and the players aren't facing any serious threats and struggles that most people do in their lives. Sure there are these unwritten rules (and millions of versions of them) by which Franzen should've acted here but what does that have to do with toughness? So he was pushed from behind in a hockey rink and what fans want him to do is to use his fists to hit the other player a few times in a seemingly menacing way but not seriously enough to kill the other player. "Hit the face not the testicles, use fists not stick, don't wear visor, don't wear gloves, don't celebrate afterwards if you've struck the other player down." It's a show and players are there to entertain. Being paid millions for playing hockey in America Is perhaps in the top 5% of the least toughness-requiring things in the world.
Don't get so upset when Franzen acts like an emotional man-child humanbeing they all are.

I must be the only one who liked what I saw from Chris Conner when he was here.
Many people here liked him. He just went and signed to a team with a more probable roster spot for him.
I think Emmerton's been OK. He hasn't done much of anything but hasn't made many mistakes either. He provides nice depth since Wings seemingly has to have five regulars injured all the time. It's not much use now to talk about if he's lower in the depth chart than Miller, Eaves, Mursak and co. since Wings don't seem to ever be healthy enough to make it necessary to get rid of some of them.

What I think is that refs were trying to give the game to Blues with that call. They knew that Wings PP is bad and killing a 5-minute penalty is a great confidence builder and a momentum shifter. Datsyuk just went and blew the refs' plan with that snipe.

I thought it was a possibility every season. Or did Wings have a guaranteed spot in the past? Oh well, fire Holland already. I think it's time. We have almost played one game this season.

Two seasons ago he was Wings' best goalscorer. Last season he played with an injured leg and was in lots of pain. There was a surgery after last season and he should be okay now. You should wait until you see him actually play before making any judgements.

Mrazek was drafted in the fifth round while McCollum was drafted in the first round. Late first round picks are not sure things at all and that's why I am not upset that Wings traded one for Quincey last spring.
