has Kronwall 'kronwalled' anyone this year? seems like he hasn't done it even once

He's tried a couple of times. But just like with everything else he's tried this year, it hasn't worked.

Can't watch the game... :(

How Tatar/Mrazek/Tootoo are doing?

Tatar looks real good. Making solid plays both on offense and defense. Had a quick shot that Cleary got the rebound on and scored.

Mrazek didn't have a lot to do, but had one really good reaction save and handled everything well.

Didn't notice Tootoo much, think he was in front of the net screening the goalie on the 2nd goal though.

#2352186 Tomas Tatar Is Jiri Hudler 2.0

The idea that tatar, nyquist, andersson, abby, helm, emmerton, janorack (spelling) etc... are going to lead us to the SC is laughable. Worst part, the joke is on us......

I'm not saying I necessarily think those guys are going to lead us to a cup, but there was a time when people said Datsyuk and Zetterberg were never going to lead the Wings to a cup either.

But you gotta be real also, Andersson, Abby, Helm and Emmerton are bottom 6 guys. Helm and Abby especially are good at it, but you don't really say Draper and Maltby lead us to cups do you? But they are important pieces, and I think Helm will be a key part of the team for a long time. Assuming he can get past his injury troubles of late.

Tatar and Nyquist are maybe not the 2nd coming of D and Z, but they both have potential as top 6 scorers. Maybe not the guys you build your team around but still good players.

And you are counting out Järnkrok way too early. He has a big role on his team in the SEL and is doing alright. He is very skilled and is probably the closest thing we have to a possible 'replacement' for D or Z in our own system.

He is 9th in scoring this year, and that is on a bit of a struggling team and without last year's top scorer Silfverberg on his line. If you compare his stats to those of Zetterberg's before he came over they're very close. Whether that will translate to the same kind of NHL success is anyone's guess.

#2351966 Howard = Average

Howard's been great or 'good enough' pretty much every game. Even prime Hasek would have had trouble getting us wins when our offense is scoring about 1 goal per game and our defense/PK is so awful.

He needs a rest though, bad. I think Babs made a big mistake playing him against Calgary, a weak opponent and a perfect chance to start Mrazek and let Howie refocus and return against StLouis.

hopefully he starts next game

Why didn't he start against Calgary? Much better opponent for a kid's first NHL appearance than one of the leagues best teams, St Louis.

Tatar had a really good game. Shame he was 'rewarded' with being demoted to the 3rd line. Guessing he'll be sent down while Cleary is put in the top 6? Lol.

Zetterberg's back must be hurting from carrying around the team night after night. A Zetterberg shift is usually a good shift for us. Problem is the other 3 shifts suck, with the occasional good Datsyuk shift. In all honesty Dats should have had a goal or two on those 2 big chances he had, if either had gone in it could have been a different game.

Getting tired of special teams dragging us down. Can't keep letting in 2-3 PK goals per game. Can't keep taking stupid penalties. Cleary, Quincey, Kronwall, I'm looking at you guys.

PP is still an embarressment. Fluke goal tonight off a broken play, but otherwise it's not even giving us momentum.

Why didn't Babs play Mrazek tonight? I'm not blaming this one Howard, but the guy needs a rest already. Is there another goalie in the league that has played every game so far? It would be okay to play him every game if it was giving results, but right now there's no point riding Howie 'til he breaks down.

Hoping for a better effort next time.

Why is Cleary?

Would be cool if our bottom 6 could ever score a goal.

Damn we need Helm, bad.

Brendan Smith looked really good that period.

Rest of the team needs to step it up though. One positive note is that 5-on-5 we're atleast doing okay.

It's not as bad as you guys make it sound. They are riding a wave of confidence and got the tempo in their legs after playing yesterday. They're also at home.

Logically, they should get a bit tired as the game goes on and the Wings should then be able to take advantage. We'll see.

I hate shootouts but I'm glad we got the extra point. Very needed. Should have managed to win the game in regulation however, we had enough chances. BJ's aren't a bad, they've been underestimated, but they are a team we need to be better than if we're gonna make the playoffs.

Overall a MUCH better game than against the Blues, still too many defensive breakdowns, and too many penalties and bad PK.

But there was a lot of progress made. Bottom 6 looked great imo. Cleary is the only questionmark there. Filppula was good, but needs more help. Franzen was okay but Samuelsson was the worst player on the ice.

Top line showed moments of brilliance. Brunner had great hustle all game, got himself in a bunch of scoring opportunities and showed his amazing talent in the shootout. I think he'll very soon start putting the puck into the net during regulation as well.

Both Datsyuk and Z have a lot more in them though. Z tried to do too much a lot of the time, maybe something he needs to shake after playing against lesser opposition all season. Great work on the Datsyuk goal though.

On D, it was a mixed bag. Lashoff will be difficult to remove from the lineup. The fact he got so much time on the PK and in key moments of the game obviously shows Babcock immediately recognized the kid was playing more solid than most of our other guys. Quincey needs to go back to basics, Smith has some serious defensive issues to work on, and Kronwall has to simplify his game. White and Colo both were passable imo.

Howard was solid enough, he seems to be finding his game.

Cleary, Sammy and Quincey seriously bring nothing. And I'm sad to say it but Zetterberg and Datsyuk need to step up soon. They've both been playing in europe but look out of it. Brunner I actually like.
