Not me. When Sweden wins gold I want it to be because they've beaten the best teams.

I'll gladly celebrate a swedish gold won against Latvia in the finals.

Slipping out to Hooters is never a bad thing *g*

I really hope Pasha is already on a plane back may he and all his teammates be safe.

I think Zetterberg is returning on a plane that leaves thursday, wonder if Pavel will be on it too.

Cool, you found a gif of the only thing Crosby has done in Olympic hockey.

Damn he's been bad/invisible this tournament.

As for the semis, I think the Czechs could cause some trouble for the US. The game against Russia told me the US are probably a bit overrated.

Injured Datsyuk still manages to easily be the best player on Team Russia. That team is in trouble against the Finns if more guys don't show up. I hope for Pav's sake they do, you can tell he is trying to put that team on his back on one good leg.

Before the wheels fall off n everyone starts arguing again, whats the quarterfinal matchup schedule?
Sweden vs Slovenia
Russia vs Finland
USA vs Czech/Slovakia
Can vs Switz/Latvia
Is that correct? Im not sure.

That is correct.

There's no room, and there is certainly no elephant in it.

That pass by Pavel before the disallowed goal... :-0

He's looking good.

#2483769 Zetterberg out with herniated disc

Well, let's hope this is a terrible rumor and bad reporting and a bad translation. That's really the last thing this team needs. And if it's that serious, like I said above, you really have to start becoming more concerned about how effective he'll be able to be long term. Back issues never just go away fully.

Z himself is saying he could opt for surgery instead of the same treatment he had in December. And then his season is of course in danger.

my point is, if he opted not to play in the olympics THIS year, he would have been able to get some much needed/desered rest for a couple weeks, before the nhl resumed playing games

Yeah I also wish Z was a terrible captain with a complete lack of heart who is willing to let down his country, family and friends because he wants some extra rest.

He'll be fine. Did people freak out in 2002 too?

Listening to the interview with Team Sweden's doctor, I'm less worried. Sounds like it's the same thing he's been dealing with every now and then the last couple of weeks. Not good of course, but doesn't seem like anything that's likely to keep him out for very long, if he even misses the game tomorrow.

It sucks that both Z and Pav are playing through these injuries but what can you do. I for one would think it's worse if they miss maybe their final chance at Olympic gold.

Landeskog-Z-Steen has potential to be an amazing line. The kind of line that could potentially kill a group like Ovechkin-Malkin-Semin.

But I'm worried about Sedin-Backstrom-Eriksson. They all need to find their game, or we're in trouble. Defense could also be an issue if Kronwall and Ericsson don't improve on their play.

At this point I'm happy with a medal for Sweden, I think we're at most the 4th best team on paper. Lundqvist needs to be amazing.

Smith was aiming for that leg.

Holy, Z missed all that time and still leads his team in stats...friggen beast

Z has been godly all year when healthy. Imo he's basically been his playoff style self all year, he probably knows this team is a Zetterberg away from being out of the playoff picture.

oh ok thanks for clearing that up.

And does everyone agree Lashoff needs to stay in as our #6 dman? I like the idea of Kindl sitting most of the time with Smith sitting out when he s***s the bed

Yeah, Lashoff needs to play. He may actually be our least mistake-prone d-man. And we need that, someone who doesn't mess up.

Right now I think Kindl and Smith should be alternating pretty much. I like Smith better because he can provide offense, but he may need the occasional sit down to clear his head after he's had a braindead game like against Washington.

Awesome. For once a struggling team doesn't have a bounce-back game against us. Nucks really are in bad shape, they looked completely anemic offensively. Still, a much more solid effort defensively than last night, and goaltending did what it needed. We had a pretty good game offensively too, but lacked some focus. Tatar could have sealed it, Nyquist had chances, Eaves etc.

But I love the look of this team up front. Sheahan line is the most fun line we've had in ages, Helm's line is good and Zetterberg-Nyquist-Abby are on fire.
