#2134370 3/21 GDT: Penguins 5 at Red Wings 4 (SO)

Posted by under_par_00 on 22 March 2011 - 12:43 AM

Just got back from the game. OMFG the Joe was just nuts in the 3rd. By far the best Wings game I've been to despite the SO loss. Way too many Pens fans there but I guess that made being at the game a lot of fun. As others have said, very happy to get a point out of this game.

I was at the game too.  I couldn't believe the amount of Pens fans there, all wearing Crosby jerseys.  It was so quiet and boring for the first 2 periods, then the 3rd was insane.  Great game overall to attend.  Wings got screwed in the shootout.  Great save by MacDonald on Kovalev, that was a pretty nice dangle.

#2132855 Jakub Kindl

Posted by under_par_00 on 20 March 2011 - 03:43 PM

Kindl has been great so far, and is improving as he gains confidence and experience.

I've said this before, but Kindl > Ericsson.  Kindl can see the ice better, and read plays a lot better than Big E.  Kindl is our best skating dman.  Ericsson has an advantage in the physical side of the game, but Kindl will grow to be the better player by far.

#2127438 Chara's hit on Pacioretty

Posted by under_par_00 on 09 March 2011 - 12:25 AM

Those of you saying that Chara knew he was hitting him into the stantion are crazy.  At the pace this game is played, Chara was simply trying to not allow Pacioretty to get by him and grab the puck.  This was not a dirty hit.  Interference maybe, but Chara certainly did not plan for this to happen.

I remember my days playing hockey, I hit someone the exact same way.  It was not on purpose, I had no idea the stantion was there, but it was one of the biggest hits of my hockey career   :yowza:

*The kid I hit was not injured

#2117669 Duchene Out Indefinitely

Posted by under_par_00 on 17 February 2011 - 12:22 PM

It's been like that the past few years.  With the lack of respect amongst players nowadays, this is what we can expect going forward unless the league makes a change.

Duchene was hit in the hand by a shot.  Malkin was very unfortunate that Myers slipped and hit him the way that he did.  Parise's injury was just a freak accident that aggravated a previous condition with his knee.  Markov just had a bummed out knee to begin with (thank you Matt Cooke).  Only Markov's injury might apply to "lack of respect" but that occurred last playoffs and it wasn't really a dirty hit.

I cant think of any other big name players to go down, maybe you could provide some that were a result of a 'lack of respect'.

Closer to home we have Datsyuk, Modano, Homer all going down due to accidents that caused injury.  Only Stuart's broken jaw was a result of a "lack of respect".

#2113320 Filppula out with sprained MCL

Posted by under_par_00 on 09 February 2011 - 12:38 AM

beginning to notice flip is fragile

Are you kidding me or do you have half a brain?  What makes Filppula fragile?  Was it because he only played 55 games last year or 80 the year before? Or what about the 73 in his rookie year?

#2104291 ASG Starter "to stay home" due to injury

Posted by under_par_00 on 24 January 2011 - 01:09 PM

They were suspended for not showing up, not for not playing... just because he's injured, doesn't mean he can't show up for the festivities... if that was their stance last year when Lids and Dats got suspended, it should be their stance this year too... the league can't just arbitrarily hand our punishment without maintaining consistency - THAT is part of what makes them such a Mickey Mouse league when it comes to their leadership...

EDIT - for the record, I don't think any player should be suspended for staying home if they are injured, it's just the double standard I am pointing out...

Crosby has a concussion, he is still not practicing and has missed a lot of games.

Datsyuk had a charlie horse that caused him to miss 1 period before the ASG.  Lidstrom had tendinitis and missed no time.  I think Crosby's condition is a little more serious, and it's probably not a good idea to attend an event like this with an injury as serious as his.

We all know the Wings, Holland, Datsyuk, and Lidstrom were "embellishing" the injuries to allow them more time to rest.  Get over it OP.

He has a concussion for f***'s sake.  He has missed a lot of games for the Pens now, probably around 10.  I don't think he is required to play in the ASG WITH A FREAKING CONCUSSION.

Also, Z was not suspended, it was Dats and Lids.  Dats missed 1 period before the ASG, Crosby has missed ~10 games!!!

#2101646 Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Posted by under_par_00 on 21 January 2011 - 03:33 AM

This guy would be an amazing addition.  He is only 35 and left the NHL on a very good season.  Over 10 NHL years with the Sharks his save percentage has been below .900 once and under .910 one additional time.  Career totals of 0.912 regular season and believe it 0.913 post-season.

Not to mention Alfy doesn't play centre.

#2081259 Help with choosing tickets

Posted by under_par_00 on 19 December 2010 - 02:21 PM

I know at the Joe that the Wings always shoot twice at the same end every game.  I assume all other arenas are like this (as a result of home bench and locker room layout).

Looks like in Tampa that the Wings will shoot twice at the end with sections 120-128.  You can see on the seating map on Stubhub that it shows which side the Lightening will shoot twice.

#2066844 The Todd Appreciation Station

Posted by under_par_00 on 21 November 2010 - 10:34 PM

I always liked Bert as a Wing. I was happy when we signed him again because I had a real good feeling that on his end, he signed because he knew leaving was a mistake. Translation: he wouldn't be taking this for granted. He proved it last year and he's proving it even more this year. No better place than Detroit to find redemption and I hope he wins a Cup here. You can tell he's playing for that Cup, maybe this year even more than last. I love the effort he's made and I couldn't be happier to have him as a Wing.

This.

Bertuzzi has been fantastic this year, it seems he is really buying into the system, and getting very comfortable in his role.  He is not floating in the defensive zone, and is playing a very solid 2-way game.  You can tell that he is happy on this team, and he is motivated to win.  I hope he can stay healthy and make an impact that he is capable of when it gets down to the nitty gritty.

#2065150 Jiri Hudler Watch Thread

Posted by under_par_00 on 19 November 2010 - 02:10 AM

Playing well my butt, he has looked at times like he is not interested in playing. Losing battles along the boards because he is weak and beaten to pucks because he is slow.

He is weak, and he is slow.  But when he is determined to play well and has two linemates with him that can get him the puck, he is a very good playmaker.  He cannot carry a line by himself, and sometimes this season it seems as though he hasn't been working hard.

#2054869 10/30 GDT: Predators 2 at Red Wings 5

Posted by under_par_00 on 30 October 2010 - 10:46 AM

So abdelkader is in for someone on third like (praise jesus). Question is who? I say sit modano.  :runs:

I agree, sit Modano, I want to see Hudler - Abdelkader - Cleary

2 guys to grind it out and Hudler can float around waiting for another empty net to miss.
