Why couldn't Draper be put on IR at the beginning of the season, and we could have kept Ritola around a little longer. Also possibly buy more time to work on a trade.

Filppula can flat out fly on the ice.  He is 2nd on the team in speed to Helm, and it's very close.  If he and Franzen can stay healthy, they will tear apart every 2nd line in the league.  60+ points for Fil for sure.

The homerism on these boards is out of control.

Abdelkader got beat up by a much bigger, stronger, and tougher Schenn.  He was dizzy trying to pick himself up off the ice afterwards, and the ref had to help him onto his feet and maintain his balance.  Schenn landed some bombs at the end of the fight if you watch closely.  Nice try for Abdelkader, but he was simply outmached by a better fighter.

I'm not hating on Abdelkader, and I love the Wings, but I call it like it is.

Could this be a stunt to get Draper's $1.5 mil off the books for a little while and open up space for Miller and Ritola to battle it out while Drapes sits on the IR?

This is disappointing to see the Hawks get an extra $5+ mil in cap space.

Hudler - Modano - Cleary        

I really want Modano to come to Detroit next season.  A 3rd line of Hudler - Modano - Cleary would be dynamite.  This also leaves Abdelkader to the 4th line with Helm and Eaves/Ritola.  

I do not think that Abdelkader has nearly the offensive ability yet of Modano, and would not work as well with Cleary and Hudler.  Please Kenny, offer more $$!!

There is no way that Hossa can avoid winning the cup this time.  Neither of the teams in the East can compete with the way that Chicago has, and will continue, to play.

Haha. You probably haven't even watched him play this playoffs. You're just bitter because it didn't work here and you're trying to make up something to make him look bad.

He's been as good as needed defensively. He's not a PK guy or a 4th liner. He's been skating much faster and back checking as well. Also, he's a winger. If you know anything about hockey, you'd know that wingers defend against the opposite d-men in the defensive zone. Sure, they can block shots, but I don't think Datsyuk or Zetterberg do that either. They're not supposed to "scrum" in front of their own net.

And what does it matter anyway when you are scoring ppg?

I've watched quite a few of the Flyers games in these playoffs.  I have been watching Leino especially.  No, I am not bitter at all, he was not working out in Detroit and I wish him all the best elsewhere.  I am glad we were able to get a 5th round pick for him!

He is terrible in the defensive zone.  Watch him play!  He loses many battles along the boards usually because he is not quick enough on his feet to get into good position.  I played competitive hockey for 10+ years growing up, so yes, I do know what a winger's job is.  Maybe you should give your little speech to Ville*.  I know they don't "scrum in front of their own net", and that is exactly why I mentioned that in my post.  Please don't insult my intelligence like that again.

He seems to have loads of offensive awareness though, and he is great at cycling the puck, seeing the ice, and creating chances.  When he needs to get down and dirty in his own zone, he is lost, and unwilling to expend the energy required to make defensive plays.

Cleary is one of the most injury prone Wings.  He seems healthy now, but does anyone expect him to remain that way if the Wings make a deep run?  I don't.  Look at last years playoffs, he got off to a great start, and then slowed down considerably.
