And I'm getting bored with this "go after the opponent following a clean hit" garbage,

#2027177 Hawks sign Fernando Pisani, $500k

Posted by Guest on 18 August 2010 - 04:42 PM

I haven't kept up with Pisani in the past few years, but if he still plays anything like he did with Edmonton in 06 playoffs, he's a good bargain at 500k. Nice bottom 6 player who can do a little if everything. I'd rather have him at 500k then Miller or Eaves at 850k.

Pisani's scoring stats projected over 80 games- 16 points

Miller's stats last year over 80 games-19 points

While Miller had 3 more points last year, Piani in general faced tougher competition at even strength, all while playing with far inferior linemates and less playing time. If adjusted for these situational scenarios, there is no reason to think that Pisani would not have at least equaled Miller's overall production, and most probably would have surpassed it.

In addition, Pisani's gaa for 60 minutes of Penatly Kill Time was below Miller's, while still playing on a drastically worse team. Say what you want to disagree, but it's hard to argue that Miller had that much of a better season to justify that pay raise.

#2024461 Wings sign Ruslan Salei

I think I'd rather just go with Meech, don't like this signing one bit.

If I could give this post 1,000,000 negatives I would.

How can you honestly rather have Meech then an experienced defenseman, who plays mean and crease clears, can mentor Ericcson on the dirty parts of the game and get Ericcson playing mean again, who doesn't have a cup and will motivate our team hopefully like Drake did and has the blessing of the coach to be here?

Give your head a shake man

#2024401 Wings sign Ruslan Salei

This is a good signing. Salei is a legit 5-6 defensman as you will find and he provides exactly what the Wings could use on the third defensive line. Getting Mitchell was a pipe dream given our cap-situation so don't compare Salei to him.
In any event, Salei is a gritty, veteran defensman who will be the ideal mentor for Ericsson. He knows how to provide offense when needed, and he knows how to clear the front of the net. He also has experience playing under Babcock so we can expect that he'll buy into the Wings' philosophy.
We may have gotten older with this signing, but the top of the crease also got a bit meaner, too.

#2022709 Mike Modano signs with Detroit

So when he's done as a player, he comes to Detroit who welcome him wiht both arms. We fell in love with the idea of the past Modano, not the washed up one of 2010.

#2022588 This team's still missing one thing..

Posted by Guest on 04 August 2010 - 10:28 PM

IMO, this team's biggest problem over the last two seasons has been giving up leads late. NOT doing that used to be our trademark. I think that the problem stems from a general lack of physicality, particularly on the defensive end. Having guys like Rafalski (and to a lesser extent, I'm sorry to say, Lidstrom) with bad backs who are afraid to go into the board late in games results both extra possessions for our oppenents, and tough, risky plays for our defensemen in our own zone.

If we could somehow trade Rafalski (to make it work cap-wise) and some higher end prospect(s) for a guy like Pronger. Well, I think that we win the Stanley Cup. That guy adds absolutely everything that this team needs.

Zetterberg is the better player,

Why do you think so? I qwould say that Gatz is way better

I'm sure they will never trade Getz for Zet alone. That's my opinion. And it basically says that Gets is better than any player in our roster. Are you in favor of this trade? No? Why? Should we add?

#2010908 Red Wings Making Play for Modano

Posted by eva unit zero on 05 July 2010 - 11:34 PM

Every team has at least one "enforcer" on their roster.I don't wanna hear that Abdelkader can be our enforcer.No.I don't wanna hear that our powerplay can be our enforcer.No.I'm sick of watching us getf****** knocked around night after night.GIVE ME Af****** ENFORCER!!!I KNOW I'm NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT FEELS THIS WAY.

Tell me the last Cup champion that won with an enforcer regularly dressing in the playoffs.

I'll give you a hint. It was Tampa Bay and Chris Dingman in 2004. Five Cups won with no enforcer? All of those star players left unprotected still won Cups?

Go watch some MMA if fighting is what you want. Otherwise, shut your yap and appreciate hockey, whether it's a physical game or a finesse game. Both things are still hockey, believe it or not.

#2006898 Rafalski Considered "top six signings since the 2005-06 season

Rafalski is one of the best offensive defensemen in the league.

He might be overpaid, but it's not egregious. And overpayment tends to happen when you sign elite players when they are a free agent in their prime.

Who wrote the article, Mommy Rafalski?

The year we signed Raffy we won the Stanley Cup. It is what it is, you do that signing over and over.

Yeah, I also lived in a craphole rental in New Port Richey, FL. Should I go back because they won the Cup that year? I know it's an extreme example, but people become almost religious about moves made during a Cup year. Sometimes, a team wins in spite of them. Rafalski was good that year and has mostly been an offensive #5 defenseman made to look better by Nick Lidstrom since then....with glaring defensive lapses. I'd rather have signed Schneider to the 2-year deal.

Here are the votes for the Hart:

Sedin - 46
Ovi - 40
Crosby - 20

Awesome, guess I disagree with 86 people then.
