Quite a manifesto. I think with the possibility of making the playoffs, maybe we hold off a few weeks on rebuilding and just enjoy watching the boys play some good hockey. I agree with you, they need to jettison a lot of dead weight and players past their prime, maybe trade a few of those prospects for established NHL talent, but let's enjoy the ride for the moment?
I am totally OK with trading him. I don't want him back here. He is a fairly good player but everyone loves to think about Flip's "upside". That's it, you're seeing it. What you see is the fully formed Flip. It's not like he is going to go to another team and start going to the dirty areas to score, shoot first, and show toughness.
Wow. It's shocking that a team full of pluggers, rookies, and bargain basement filler would lack creativity. The few skilled players we on our roster have got to be shaking their heads at times wondering "WTF??"
I'd love Ryan O'Reilly...I think there are still hard feelings in Colorado from the start of this season. Especially given that next year we'll be playing Colorado a lot less, they should be a little more willing to deal with us.
Not that I think it will happen, but that would be amazing and it's somewhat realistic.
They can't move O'Reilly within one calendar year from when he signed, If I recall correctly.
A lot of people said that about Chicago too after their Cup Fire Sale, and they are still hanging around OK. (surprisingly). I have a feeling the Pens will survive just fine. (Unfortunately).
His team is on, like a 13 game win streak, and he has added 3 veteran players. He may have given up a few picks, but by the time they hit the NHL roster, the young stars they have now will be 30 and reminiscing about the great playoff run of 2013 fondly.
I root for the Wings. But I do admire what he's doing in Pittsburgh. I like aggressive GM's. Sometimes they make mistakes but they are trying. To me it's better than sitting by watching and maybe pulling the trigger at the last minute and paying top dollar.
wow..is this game hard to watch on west coast time. Between those HIDEOUS Vancouver throwbacks and the sloppy play.
I think Vancouver, as an organization, has consistently had the most horrible uniforms, from the flaming skate, to the "V" of black and gold, to the orca, the only one I like remotely is the original stick in box logo. The rest are just straight up awful.
