Dumbest. Decision. Ever. This is the Detroit Red Wings, not the Michigan Wolverines. The Winter Classic should be held in Detroit, not in an over-rated stadium that isn't even close to the Detroit city limits. I would rather the state of Michigan not have a Winter Classic than play it in a place other than Detroit. Hell, I'd rather Toronto host the WC than Ann Arbor. Hell, there's even an unused lot not far from Comerica that could be put to some use.

And I guess this puts to rest the idea that Illich supports the city of Detroit. This is a plain money grab by him. Period. He does not have Detroit's best interest at heart, or it would have been held at Comerica Park.

Detroit, once again, gets screwed out of a Winter Classic. f*** raw numbers, f*** the money, play the goddamn thing in Detroit or move it to Toronto. I certainly won't be watching it in 2013.

You would think no other player has EVER returned from a concussion....Geez I wish someone would take one for the rest of us and just blindside that little *****.

Ok. Actually Finger after that season was the better blueliner anyway. Imagine what Fletcher what would have paid Finger if he was trying to sign him? It probably would have been more. :lol:

Typical Leaf fans, Finger was decent in his first season in Toronto, 6-17-23 in 66 games.

But the Jets are in Phoenix now... This makes zero sense to call the new Winnipeg team the Jets. So do the franchise records that Teemu put up magically shift back to the new Jets team or does it stay with the Coyotes? What about retired numbers, are the two teams going to split the retired numbers? Fail on the NHL and new owner of the Jets.

The Maple Leafs are giving banished junior Michael Liambas a chance to resume his hockey career.

On Oct. 30, 2009, Liambas was playing for the Erie Otters when he drove Kitchener’s Ben Fanelli into the boards, causing a serious head injury. Liambas, now 21, was given a season-long suspension by CHL commissioner David Branch that ended his junior career.

The Leafs invited Liambas to their rookie camp, which begins Saturday in London, Ont.

So I was reading that Mario was inducted into the order of Canada yesterday and it got me to thinkin about Stevie. I want to take nothing away from Mario because I became a big fan of his later in his career but I dont know if he deserves this honor and if he does then Stevie certainly also deserves to get it. Some fans will remember that Mario refused to play for Canada MANY times in his career and played his entire career in the US. When its all said and done Stevie has more career points, more World Championship and Olympic medals, more Stanley Cups and also managed the team that just won the Gold in Vancouver.

That has nothing to do with it.

Lidstrom has won the Norris before in seasons where other guys could easily have won it over him.  Last year he had such a subpar start to the season, that I understand why he wasn't nominated at the end.

I dunno, they like their Canadians. Still a subpar start shouldn't eliminate a guy, it should be how well he defends and Nick is the best at it. He should win it every year, and I'm not saying that as a homer. Edit: Ok, well not every year, but every year he's the best...which is like every year so...

As of right now he's 1 of a very few players that's rumoured to be available, and could get the Maple Leafs offense going, and potentially into the playoffs...Kinda surprised nothing was done this past weekend concerning Kaberle; maybe Burke is waiting to see what pans out come July 1st.


I think he didn't trade Kaberle because he knows the offers are going to get better after July 1st. He may be intimidating and annoying, but he's not an idiot. He's waiting until certain teams get desperate before he makes his move.

Why has noone mentioned Paul Kariya yet? TSN has Dominic Moore on their list of UFA's but noone has said a thing about Kariya.

I realize Kariya is past his prime, but I'm sorry...Paul Kariya at his worst is better than Dominic Moore at his best.
