#2210814 Brendan Smith suspended for 5 games

Posted by MacK_Attack on 30 September 2011 - 10:29 AM

It's actually up to the president of the AHL if Smith can serve his time at the AHL level.

It's up to him if they let him play during his suspension, but he has to be on an NHL roster for the games to come off his suspension. The AHL generally allows players to play when they are suspended in the NHL, only when it's a major suspension do they make the player sit.

All the AHL can do is issue a suspension of their own which does NOT affect the NHL suspension that he has to serve while on the NHL roster.

The Flyers had to do that with one of their boneheads a few years ago. They had to call him up before every game and then send him down immediately afterwards in order to take games off his suspension while he played in the AHL.

They forgot "Connolly and Lombardi on the IR", but you can only fit so many words into a headline.

Still better than Lebda!

#2191612 MTL police investigating Chara

Maybe the Montreal PD should worry about you know, REAL crimes. This is really pathetic that they are trying to question him on a hockey hit, sure it was a bad hit that resulted in an injury but it's Hockey, s*** happens.

It's Montreal. They get their panties twisted in a bunch anytime one of the glorious Canadiens are injured in a malicious attempt to destroy the Quebecois culture.

Had it been the other way around and a Hab had nearly decapitated a Bruin player, there'd be no police investigation, no Air Canada outrage. Nothing.

Only in Canada

No, only in Montreal.

#2191088 Cam Barker on waivers

There is no re-entry waivers during the off-season. Have to be able to assign a player to the AHL (and he has to report) in order to place him on re-entry waivers and you can't do that until training camp.

well there is a catch... As long as our offer is below 7.8 million then we would give up only 2 1st round picks and a 2nd and a 3rd. Yes that is a still a steep price but I highly doubt we draft a Doughty character with the 3rd and 2nd and if we stay competitive our 1st round picks will be 25 and later. This isn't like the leafs giving up a the picks and getting the 2nd overall pick. I say we offer him around 7 and either jack the price up on LA or we get him and he is our Lidstrom replacement 1 year ahead of time. Lidstrom, Doughty, Kronwall, Stuart as our top 4. That would be AMAZING!!!

It would have to be an absolutely insane offer for L.A. to let him go. It's a pipe dream to expect him to leave for another team via offer sheet.

#2130072 Share of Leafs for sale

Why would they want to sell? The on-ice product isn't successful but that shouldn't really matter from a business stand-point...

They got in for $50 million and they're getting out for over $1 billion. I'd say they've maximized the investment.
