Tambellini signs Tambellini   :hehe:

No, he didn't?

Jeff signed with Vancouver.

New Jersey out of the running for Kovy. LA trying to close the deal.

Dean Lombardi says he's not close to signing Kovalchuk and isn't sure if he's even in the running.

Kings may have just traded for a D man

Kaberle?

Can't think of any other big-name defencemen that would be available.

imo Stalberg is a little overrated. Not to mention Chicago gave up one of their better prospects in Sweatt.

He never recovered, confidence wise, after getting caught in the Volchenkov tracks early in the season. Played scared the rest of the way.

I'm glad the Leafs were able to get a top-six forward without moving Kaberle. Still have that chip to play.

Bill Sweatt was very impressive in the NCAA with Colorado college, he's got fantastic speed and very good hands.

He was quite dynamic when I watched him, he might even be able to jump right into the line up.

Sounds like Stalberg, to be honest.

Stalberg has blazing speed, decent hands but wouldn't go into the corners. That was the kiss of death for him with Brian Burke. Stalberg plays too scared. Get got popped by Volchenkov early last season and never got his confidence back.

Don't know what to think of this one.

Leafs gave up some intriguing prospects (except for Paradis - he's not much) but get back somebody with Cup experience and some talent to boot in Versteeg. I don't know a damn thing about Sweatt.

To give credit where credit is due, Eklund had this trade before anybody else.

Via Bob McKenzie. Waiting on details.

As for builder: our own Jimmy Devellano certainly deserves it.

He does, but it's going to be Pat Burns.

#1998324 Leafs changing jersey; naming Phaneuf captain

Posted by MacK_Attack on 11 June 2010 - 05:15 PM

I too like the 1960's retro 3rd jersey the best, but I gotta admit I like the Harold Ballard era jerseys as well

With all the jersey changes we've seen since the early 1990's - ya gotta believe the MLSE are reaping huge profits.

Jersey sales bottomed out the last couple years because everybody thought the "practice jersey" they've been using was ugly and there's been a lack of secure names to put on a jersey.

Phaneuf jerseys started flying off the shelves as soon as they got him, though.

Not really big on Phaneuf being captain, but who are their alternatives?

Komisarek & Beauchemin

#1997625 Fire sale in Chicago?

Posted by MacK_Attack on 10 June 2010 - 02:08 PM

So is there a cap in the AHL? Like what happens if they waive Huet to put him in the minors, there is no cap hit on the Hawks right?  And i highly doubt anyone is gonna pick up his 5 million dollar contract?  So how does that work?  It seems like a logical way to free up a good portion of money to sign some cheap people while not having to dump as much.

There's no cap in the AHL.

If Huet is waived, he won't count against the cap. But he can't be taken off their cap until the end of training camp.

Also, Jonathan Toews gets a $1.3 million bonus for winning the Conn Smythe. Because it wouldn't fit on Chicago's cap from this past season, it carries over to the 2010/11 season.

Details still emerging.

I'm surprised to see Indy as the 5th-best market.

#1990864 Second outdoor game in Calgary

Posted by MacK_Attack on 28 May 2010 - 03:38 PM

Well Montreal did do well in the playoffs and have a rabid fan base. If Toronto wasn't the worst team in the league I could see them getting there instead though.

I don't think it's too bad, I guess I'd prefer to see Vancouver in there though but we'll see next year.

Leafs want their own game, but BMO Field isn't big enough.

Well thats 2 for Montreal and 2 for the Pens so 2012 the Wings should be due to host one. The leafs should be good enough by then they can play at the big house and FILL IT.

They would probably fill it now as a terrible team.
