Who else burst out laughing when they heard?

All Ken Holland has done this offseason is sign players for Grand Rapids...at least that's what we hope he's doing...

I like kicking the tires, here's why:

Everytime there is a Belle Tire anything I imagine their sponsorship is solely there to allow Ken Holland to spend his off hours in their stores kicking all their tires.

Fantasy Player Tree

"We got seven left-hand D. I love (to have a righty), but how do you get it?" Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said over the weekend at the NHL entry draft in Philadelphia. "It's great to have this fantasy; like (general manager) Kenny Holland would tell you, there's no tree. I've been all over him, but there's no tree to grab them off of, so we'll get what we get."

Here...here's your goddamned tree assholes:

#2524171 Wings sign Tomas Nosek to 2 year entry level deal

 Really? Ok, Leino, Brunner, Brunnstrom...does that answer your question?

Leino - traded for some picks. Brunner - helped us immensely in the playoffs that year, and one of our better goalscorers that season. Brunnstrom - played like 6 games.
Which one of these signings hurt the team again?

I would take Brunner back in a second. I loved the kid

I don't get why people were calling Brunner a bust. Signs on a contract that's cheap as s*** and produces very, very respectable numbers without any kind of NHL/AHL development beforehand. He doesn't sign with us after because he wanted more money and it didn't work out for him, but the bottom line is we got him for a year on an ELC and he helped our team immensely. Not a waste at all.

Who says they aren't getting a chance?  You think Wings scouts travel the entire world scouring for future talent, but don't bother to check around the metro area?

I know it's cool to have a local guy on the team, but you don't go out of your way to sign someone of lesser talent just because they're local.  I know it's important for "Michigan boys" to feel like they're specially chosen, but maybe that's the problem. If their only shot is getting picked because they're local, they might not be good enough.

I wish Holland had signed Mike Grier, back when he was a free agent, and like always, the Wings were needing big, physical right handed shooter.

#2530321 John Gibson's Pac Man mask for 2014

Man, when I saw the thread title I thought it was going to actually look like pac man, with face of the cage being the mouth. I think that would've been way more badass, like he's boasting he just gobbles up every puck that comes at him.

If I was Ducks goalie, I'd have pictures of all the players from the Disney movie.  And of course, Emilio Estevez.

#2530162 What's best for Mantha?

Posted by Ekmanc on 05 July 2014 - 08:38 PM

He definitely needs to start the season in GR and get used to playing against men. Considering how injury prone we are he will get not one but a couple of chances to be called up during the season and we can evaluate further after that but it wouldn't surprise me if he needs this entire season in the AHL before he's ready.

Start the year in GR and is the first call up for injuries.

I generally agree with you guys as far as trade values, but honestly, did anyone think Kenny would give up Jarnkrok and a 2nd for David Legwand on an expiring contract, or a 1st for Kyle Quincey?

You really can't blame people for having strange views on trades, it's not like trading has been done competently in Detroit in a while.  People don't really have much to base their opinions on.

Kip, I wasn't saying anything, I was just asking which one could be lived without.  They both have potential to be 20-30 goal getters.  I most definitely trade one of those two before I trade Mantha or Sheahan.  I think Tatar would be the more sought after one by teams and he should garner a larger return.  I also agree that my trade piece scenario is way over payment for Myers.  I think Myers could be had for Helm and a 1st and throw Kindl in there just to make room on the roster.  If one of them had to be traded, Jurco or Tatar...I just don't know which one I would be comfortable in letting go...guess it all depends on the return.

You have no idea how to gauge trade value. That package won't even get Buffalo to answer the phone, this isn't NHL 14.
