#2338826 Toronto fires Brian Burke

Posted by Esquire on 09 January 2013 - 12:35 PM

The only reason that this is surprising, is that it's actually a move for the good of the franchise and it was made on time.

#2338188 Tomas Holmstrom Retires

Posted by Esquire on 07 January 2013 - 12:28 PM

Homer decided to retire after realizing that, after Nick retired, he has nobody to eat his ritual pre-game meal with. Poor guy. As usual, all the best to him and his family for his sacrifices to the team. Hope to see him back with the Wings in some capacity.

Not sure, if this keeps up for long, if I will even support the NHL under Bettman. I know many here will be with me if they cancel the Winter Classic.

A relationship expert would tell you that if she cheats on you and you stay with her, you lose all her respect. And this Bettman/NHL ***** has already cheated on you 3 times now. It's time to end the relationship.

Gary Bettman is a mouthpiece for the owners/BOG and is not working on his own.

While he may be a "mouthpiece", his duties and responsibilities are far more reaching than simply conveying what owners have to say. He is the final word in the NHL, and to assume he is simply a lame duck is incorrect. Does he take orders and influence from owners? Absolutely. But the owners need one person to give them a vision and their trust is given to Bettman in order make the right decisions to see it through on a number of different levels, some seen, some unseen.

No. I want 82 games.

Well then, if we're throwing around fantasies, I want 5 mintues alone with Kate Upton.

The Preds just slammed Weber's head into the glass. Love it.

No Larionov thus far. If this means his daughters aren't showing up either, I'm boycotting this entire weekend. Go ahead and call my bluff.

Waiting to see what the cap hit is before I comment...

I honestly think the "Monster" would be an excellent back-up for the Wings and he would feel right at home with all the Swedes.

Detroit's already had one player collapse during a game due to heart problems. No need for a second.

We need a tweak or two which should be addressed in the offseason and we are a cup winning team.

I'm going to go ahead and strongly disagree here.

Wings are losing 2 top line defenseman, they might lose Homer, and are desperate for a proven goal scorer. And those are just the improvements that even casual non-Wing fans can point out about this team.

Big changes are needed, and big changes are coming.

Milan Lucic gets nothing during the regular season and a rookie gets 3 games in the playoffs!? Seems legit!

#2286142 WCQF Game 2 GDT : Red Wings 3, at Nashville Predators 2

Posted by Esquire on 13 April 2012 - 10:43 PM

To be fair, I wouldn't exactly call Bert's scrap "revenge." You could call the win revenge - and it is (and the best kind, at that)...but I think that, ultimately, Weber got off easy for nearly cracking Hank's skull open.

And, seriously, can we lose all the fan elitism around these parts? "You're not a real fan." "There's the door." Blah-blah-blah.

We're all Wings fans here. We all want to see them hoisting the Cup.

1) To be fair, I never once used the word "revenge".
2) Call is whatever you want, but history has proven that this board is chalk full of fair-weather fans/trolls and I have zero problems calling them out for exactly what they are. Don't attempt to try and guide my views. If you don't like my opinions, there is a fantastic block option I encourage you to utilize.
3) We are NOT all Red Wings fans here, and there is a large portion of users who would like nothing better to do than wave their "I told you the Wings would lose because Kenny didn't sign ________ or ___________"

I am no better and no worse than anyone on here.
