#2608562 Question for the Board regarding Babcock

Posted by RedWingsRox on 19 May 2015 - 12:37 PM

Personally, if I was Holland, no.  $3.25 for 4 years is a significant raise and very fair for his performance, how many Cups again did Babcock bring us?   This offers him and other coaches a reasonable increase in level of pay.  Doubling it in one move is a bit unreasonable.  If Babs makes $5, how much should Q and Sutter make, both have 2 Cups in the last 5 years?

Would not let Babs use Buffalo as the gauge of salary.  I'd support Holland and Mr. I if they let him walk.

Toronto Star reports "Babcock is leaning towards re-signing with the Detroit Red Wings on a short-term basis, a source told the Star."

If the report is true ... sorry but no.  Don't cater to that condition ... let him go now.  No way to a 1 year or 2 year deal and we do this all over again ... what, when Pittsburgh wants to dance and we lose Blashill  ... no way.  Bye, good luck in Buffalo or Toronto.

Blashill, congratulations, you're the new head coach of the Detroit Red Wings for the next 4 years, grow with it, we'll be patient.

he is gone. when he starts asking other teams, it says a lot. he could also sit out a year, not like he needs the money. There have been Babs to U of M rumors for a couple of years as well.

Yah but of all teams, SJ ?? What do they have that the Wings don't have other than summer weather all year round?  Their 2 stars are aging as well.  If McLellan can't get more out of them, then I don't think Babcock can do much more.  Babcock cannot put on goalie pads and play for the Sharks.

I honestly think they are further away from SC than Detroit and that joke of a GM, he wants to trade Wilson for Holland?

I think this would be an interesting twist if Chiarelli doesn't drink the Babcock $5m/yr for 5 year koolaid and he doesn't request permission to interview Babcock and  just go with McLellan instead.  (Not a bad call on McLellan, solid coach for less)  Imagine what that might do to Babs ego ... so no Crosby to coach, no McDavid ... you really want to go to Buffalo or the dysfunctional Leafs.

That's what is coming out of Edmonton ... I love it!  Sorry Mikey, no McConnor for you.

St. Louis seems a tempting location for him, if they clear out Hitch in time.  Stillman has no issue with putting the money in for his Blues.  The media is rather easy in St. Louis and team is loaded with talent, but is in desperate need of a culture change.  Babcock with a move or two could make a strong regular season team into a much deadlier playoff team.

Why change one 'cock' with another one?  ... sorry couldn't resist.

Hitch is a good friend of Babs, I wonder if that has any bearing on it, knowing that if you say yes, your friend will be unemployed.  Don't know if Hitch's job is secure or on thin ice but yah, St. Louis is way too much talent to be one and done.  They need goalie but that's a problem that a coach cannot rectify or solve.

Does anyone really care what Devellano thinks?

The drama unfolds, in round 1 next year, Detroit meets the team that Babs goes to and Wings advance to round 2 in 7 .. something that he couldn't do when he was here.  Circle of life.  Called it here on Apr 30, 2015.

So before June 30th, we can get a 3rd round pick or something from a team if they want permission to speak to Babs?

What is Jamie McLellan smoking ... he thinks San Jose is a good destination ... with that GM Doug Wilson ??!!

We need a coach who will take the team to church on Sundays.

Not McLean .. McLellan before the Walrus, he'd be afraid of who we're playing ... and scared of who to play.

Babcock post-game, "Well, it's a race to 4 and they got there first.  We competed, we played hard, that's hockey sometimes."

Spot on!

I write his post game speeches for him.  Just txt'd it to him.
