#2653965 2/20 GDT : Red Wings at Senators : 7:00 PM EST

Nice to see Mrazek starting again after his crappy game.  This show's he IS, if anyone had any doubs left around the NHL, that he is the #1 on this team.

Let's hope the D can step it up and protect Mrazek from getting pelted again...plus Pit was pretty aggressive near the crease, bumping Petr on multiple occasions, we need to knock some heads and protect him.

Is it that he's #1? Or is he being given a chance to get pucks to hit him again? He's no doubt our best goalie, but wouldn't it be better to have your best goalie against the Rangers tomorrow?

I think it should be Howard tonight and Mrazek tomorrow, but I'm not in charge.

Nyquist is up vs Price now, who decimated Zetterberg last round. Time for revenge, and we're down by a bunch already.

Vote now, and vote often.

Here is the code to use for Nyquist in this round, instructions and the link for the program to use with it are posted in the thread.

(function vLoop (i) {setTimeout(function () {$(".right-play > .vote-button").click();if (--i) vLoop(i);else alert('done');},8000)})(88)

Beating Montreal fans, if they get into it, is impossible. There are too many of them.

#2589973 % chance of making the playoffs

  Detroit Red Wings Playoff Chances

Did not play, playoff odds up 0.06 to 93%
95 points   41 25-13
Gained over half a point while idle.
Tonight's game is HUGE. Can add 4.5 - 4.8% with a win, but can LOSE anywhere from 2 - 12% with a loss.
Also, as much as you may hate it - the team needs your to root for a Penguins REGULATION win tonight over the Sens.

The perfect result tonight would be a Detroit win and an Ottawa regulation loss. This would clinch all playoff spots in the east, meaning we would be in. Pittsburgh has been slumping lately (as bad as detroit) so Wings just need to take care of their game, let us fans worry about the other one.

Edit: maybe not boston... they can lose and fall out of playoff contention if they like.

I guess it all depends on how you see it then, lol.

I watched the recap again, and I saw the same thing that I saw before.  His stick breaks in two, and he immediately slides his hand down to hold the two pieces together so he can tap the puck in.

Only Abby truly knows though...  :)

2 things to note about the winner:

1- NHL probably has it in their mind the goal is unreviewable (whereas I think all goals should be)

2- The only point where I see the stick clearly broken is after he makes contact with Allen's pads, at that point the stick is awkwardly bent (thus broken imo) neither the refs, nor abby would have the reaction time to identify that as a broken stick before the puck went in. I think it would be unfair to call it back.

2 things about the officials

1 - The linesmen were absolutely brutal!

2 - the amount of interference let go by both sides was VERY interesting. It wasn't subtle at all.

#2576380 Once again blowing a lead and giving up 3 goals

Posted by SDavis35 on 28 February 2015 - 08:17 PM

13-1-0 when leading after 1

21-0-3 when leading after 2

9-6-1 when trailing after 1

9-11-2 when trailing after 2 (we have the best point % when trailing)

Yes, the 3 goals against is concerning, but we are finding ways to win when leading. It's not always pretty, but we get it done. If you ask me, we are a team that relies on the intermission to get refocused and ready to go.

#2575712 Red Wings Road Fans Appreciation

Posted by SDavis35 on 27 February 2015 - 08:12 PM

I'm not sure if it was just because we only get one game in the West coast cities, or if our fans were just really into games lately, but I've noticed an awesome trend of some great road crowds this past month and more. Just wanted to say I love hearing the crowd cheer for us at road games, specifically Dallas, Arizona, Colorado and even last night was a pretty good road cheer. Great to be a part of such an enthusiastic fanbase!

#2567568 1/31 GDT : Islanders 1 vs. Red Wings 4

Just did a standings check. 3 teams in the division are on pace for 110+ points and Rangers (the last Wild Card) are on pace for 103 points. Is this abnormally high? It seems like it is.

This was the first time in years that I've actually supported Canada winning, but I feel bad for the Russians right now, goalies aren't getting the job done.

Edit: I take it back, this game is now interesting.

But bettman said we have the best refs in pro sports

Of course they do, they have more wins than any other officials, except maybe the NBA.

#2530606 Red Wings Target Mike Green

I only hope he brings scoring to the team; imo it's the offense from our defense which is a reason we couldn't score most of last season.

Hamilton AND two Toronto teams? I'm not so sure about that...

Roenick nailed it last night post game.

Fact is, we have no talent. You can't plug 3rd and 4th liners on the top lines and expect it to work, as the 3 goals in last 4 games illustrates.

Guys like Nyquist and Tatar are future solid 3rd liners, but let's face it, they're no superstars. The only prospect that has superstar potential is Mantha.

Even if we let all the old guys go in the off season, I don't see us doing much better next season. It will be a mix between declining vets and 3rd line kids....

Don't know how we are gonna get better anytime soon.

Guys like Nyquist and Tatar are close to scoring 20 goals this season. Nyquist as a top liner has more goals than Zetterberg in fewer games. I'm not saying they're future superstars like Zetterberg/Datsyuk, but they're going to be really good players for many years. We need to have a top line though, Nyquist-Franzen-Alfie are second line guys right now.

This team is working hard, doing good things but has no finish. When you get good chances you need to finish them, that's why we're in the spot we are. The players are a part of the issue, but next year they will all be better. We need leadership from guys who can get the job done offensively, and those guys are injured. We have a seriously good team when healthy, easily top 3 in the division. I'm looking forward to our future team, cause these guys are fun to watch.

#2485888 USA-Canada Thread

Posted by SDavis35 on 21 February 2014 - 02:12 PM

What a game! It was tons of fun watching the defensive battle. Hate Healy though... he's worse than pierre by far. He was whining about the penalties against Canada, even though all the penalties were legit for both sides.

Good game USA, that should have been for gold.

Disco Dan and Laviolette are probably laughing at Czech's coach for constantly sending Červenka-Plekanec-Jagr to match the Backes line up

Parise 4:1 another short side goal blew by Pavelec

The Czech coach has been incompetent every game I've watched. It's like all he does is stand there behind the bench and watch the players go.
