E has had plenty of time to 'break out'. He's been given every opportunity under the sun to perform. He's just not a very good defenseman. Some defensemen can be big and soft while still being effective. He's not one of those guys. If he isn't using his size, he's basically useless from where I'm sitting. And he rarely uses his size. Ever.
Oh... he has a big reach.
Big deal, reach is useless when you are confused with your back to the play. I hope they send him along.
Name ONE THING that Draper has done in the playoffs the past two seasons that makes him "valuable". Besides his faceoff percentage, which is above average at best, and his speed... which has been declining steadily.
The NHL will suffer so very much if Crosby does not recover 100%. Crosby will be the reason the NHL will be successful league or fall back into the shadows
I'm sorry. This is just dumb. I know you say these things to troll and then act all innocent and misunderstood after the fact, but there are PLENTY of players in the NHL that are as compelling/marketable as your hero.
Ericsson needs to go. Plain and simple. If he gets re-signed, I will begin to start having serious doubts about Holland. How many years do we have to wait for this guy who was never a defenseman in the first place to develop? It's getting ridiculous, the amount of golden opportunities this kid gets to stink up the ice.
Hudler 's swing this season from "burn him, and then burn the ashes, and then put the ashes in an airtight container" to "OMG WTF HE RULZ!!!" in January/February and then back again when his line wasn't producing earlier this series among the general majority of this board was far greater than anything Sammy ever saw as haters or any kind of "swing" opinion.
Osgood after the end of the first round of the 2009 playoffs is probably the largest swing ever. "Worst goalie ever to play for the Wings" to "Best goalie in the world!!!"
It just seems like that because you are ultra-sensitive about how other fans perceive him for some reason. There has actually been more of a 'wait and see' attitude regarding him from what I've read over the course of the season and aside from a few small flashes, we're still waiting.
Lol and I hate him... It's no secret I love what Ericcson brings, if he would ever bring it. Ya gotta admit though he's improved every year he's been here.
I think as a whole the league has gotten more officiated. I remember when I first started following a penalty with a one goal lead in the last 2-3 minutes of play was unheard of. Now it seems when there's a one goal lead in the playoffs powerplays are abound.
Exactly. The last few minutes used to be a nasty dogfight. Now players just skate into the slot, wait till they feel a stick and throw their head back looking for a call. It really is kinda sad what the NHL has become.
Homer is second on the team in scoring behind only Datsyuk in the playoffs. I admire his guts to go to the "HARD" areas of the game and wish Franzen had even half of the courage that Homer has displayed over the years. Yes he is getting old and maybe this will be his last season but I for one will really miss him when we no longer have the BEST net front MAN in the game.
He is the best. But he's a target. How many penalties have been called on him because he is Holmstrom? How many goals have been disallowed because he is in the area? Right now, for all his greatness in front of the net, it's a wash because of the league. And since that is pretty much all he brings, I think he is no longer effective enough to warrant a spot. Unless he changes his game (doubtful) or the league changes the Holmstrom Policy (highly doubtful).
