#2193411 Jackets sign Wisniewski: 6-years $33-million ($5.5m/yr)

It's going to be hard to rationalize with irrationally upset posters who, every year, like Leafs fans, want to sign every player at the top of the UFA list or they're going to beat their chest at their team's GM.

That extra 2.25m gives the Wings room for another player, and while Big E's game as horribly flawed, particularly in the postseason, he's also still developing, and likely would fetch more on the market. Overpaying is what people do, and while I can't 100% disagree that this was an overpayment of Big E, it could be worse.

The cap goes up, the salaries go up. Wiz is not overpaid imo, especially in comparison to Ericsson. We're lucky enough to get Datsyuk at 6.7 million, because if the cap was as high as it is now we would have paid him way more. In a couple years if the cap keeps going up thats a steal for Wiz, just like it is for Datsyuk.

I see the Red Wings have no cap space left. Damn you Kenny! :censored:

Oh wait...

So its ok to overpay Ericsson because we have cap space but not to 'overpay' Wiz ? Sorry, but Wiz is way better than Ericsson if you haven't already noticed. Wiz at 5.5 >> Ericsson at 3.25.

There is nothing wrong with what Wiz got, hes exactly what the Wings needed. Him playing against the Wings isn't going to be a fun thing this year and CBJ are going to be a pretty good team if Mason can play like he did a couple years ago.

The beauty of the Huet contract....it continues to find new ways to F*ck the Blackhawks. :D

#2009390 TSN: Discussion of Modano To Wings

Posted by Joseph Franks on 02 July 2010 - 06:03 PM

There's no doubt (even at his age) that he would make our team better and be a good influence on guys likes Abs, however, we still need to add that 4th line nastiness, so if we add Modano, be prepared to give up on Ritola and say bye to Miller too as trades will NEED to get made to clear the roster space...

Also, for the people saying a "win it for Mike" scenario would be the same as Drake, you are WAY off - Drake was a former Red Wing (who makes his off season home in Traverse City) and had NEVER won a cup - Mike (although a MI native) has made Texas home and already has a ring... if you can't see the difference in urgency, I don't know how much clearer to make it...

If it means signing him at the cost of adding a real decent 4th line guy, who can play 7+ minutes every night and is a mean SOB, or a veteran stay-home 6th d-man... then I have a problem - If it's done as WELL as this, then I think we got one hell of a team and I'm willing to let Ritola go and risk his potential, potentially biting us in the ass...

As I've said since this was first brought up - I wouldn't love it, but I wouldn't hate it.

You're stupid. grinders winning cups is so 1990's.

Great job Montreal. Someone ask Ovie if Halak looks nervous now.

If you're trying to redirect the puck into the net, which IS legal under the wording in the rulebook, you do.

And "not for the specific act of stopping" doesn't mean "distinct kicking motion." I don't expect kick-off like kicks, but still, a kick is a kick. You can't just change the definition of it for hockey.

Kick.
To strike out with the foot or feet.

Looked like he struck the puck with his foot did it not? If his foot wasn't going forward that would be redirecting. But he moved his foot to make contact with the puck.

Pretty cut and dry.

#1927213 Kenny calling Crosby "Cindy"?

Sorry, I just don't see the big deal about this.

Now a funny occurrence was the Patrick Eaves blooper. Now that's funny stuff.

Just throwing my 2 cents out there, ignore it if you want.

Only one acting like an 11yr old here is you, bro. Sorry.

I don't generally complain about Crosby threads. Maybe do some research before you try and derail another thread... maybe?

Didn't realize I was only referring to the original poster and not the other 10 people replying in the thread.

Anyways I'm not going to talk about Crosby because it gets me in trouble.

Have fun making jokes about an NHL superstar that 11 year olds would laugh at.

I'm wondering if the same Wing's fans that complain about Crosby's attention will ever realize they are the ones bringing him up...

Are you kidding me? That last game, before the shootout, was a pure snoozer.

Wasn't Crosby's fault Ovechkin doesn't come to play and only cares about money and women.
