#2006142 Are We Not Good Enough to Win the Cup?

Posted by hooon on 28 June 2010 - 12:42 PM

1. We're another year older.
2. We have a horrible 3rd line, and the 3rd line is key deep in the playoffs.
3. 4th line doesn't bring enough energy.
4. Howard is inconsistent in goal.
5. Cleary will probably be injure 70 games (had to do it).
6. Hudler doesn't deserve to be on this team, while others take paycuts he comes back flaunting 10million untaxed to rub in Lidstroms, Zetterbergs faces..
7. Too much dead weight still on the roster (Draper, maltby if signed, Meech)
8. Six D-men feels more like 4 1/2. Need a solid 6th, Kronner, Stu, and Raf need to play better.
9. Injuries, slumps remain unseen but will play a factor I see us narrowly taking 6-8th seed if we get lucky.

Team needs to get bigger, faster younger, which they addressed in the draft.
Filpulla needs to prove his worth, hudler needs to redeem himself
Howard needs to be a stable wall, Rafalski needs to earn his check

Cleary needs to geeeeeeeet out!
(god I hate you so fricken much cleary, I hope you attract a David lee Oswald type)

So many things wrong with this.

1. That is a good thing for many of the youngsters we have on our team.
2. How do you have ANY idea what our 3rd line will be next year? You don't.
3. Same thing with our 4th. Holland has said he's still trying to sign someone... so you have no idea what the 4th line brings.
4. Howard was our best player last year... but oook.
5. Wanna make a bet about Cleary being out 70 games?
6. Dumbest part of this post. Yeah I'm SURE the first thing Hudler does when he gets back is "rub 10 million dollars in Lidstrom's face". This is one of the more ignorant assumptions I've ever read on lgw.
7. I doubt Maltby OR Meech is signed, and Draper will probably not crack the roster most nights. Does this REALLY concern you?
8. Wouldn't mind a solid 6th, alright, I'm with you here.
9. Injuries and slumps.... happen to every team in every sport. If you can magically find a way to solve this, please, by all means post another list!

I'm so sick of people saying we have the same team as we had last year. Last year was an enigma in terms of injuries, and even when players came back they were not in top form. I believe we have one of the best rosters in the league.

For those of you who forgot, this was our ACTUAL STARTING LINEUP at one point in the season:

We are NOT going to be the same team as last year.

#2004646 2010 NHL Draft Thread

Posted by hooon on 25 June 2010 - 06:48 PM

This is the first draft I've ever watched and MAN we're only on pick 4. It's going to be like July 3rd by the time the Wings pick.

Lol. Settle in. Oh and after hours of waiting.... be prepared for the Wings to simply deal their pick, and not pick til tomorrow.

I agree with Drake. Didn't cost us anything. Hopefully he does something cool, if not... oh well. Best of luck to you Evgeni.

#2004084 Wolski Re-signs with Coyotes

Posted by hooon on 24 June 2010 - 02:18 PM

He did well last year on both squads, but I agree, that seems a little steep. I guess they really wanted to keep him. He is also pretty young though, and hasn't yet realized his potential.

It should be the Steve Yzerman Leadership Award to begin with.

Seriously, this award is such a joke. Messier became a journeyman in the "height" of his leadership years. Anyone remember Vancouver?

NHL seriously goofed this one, but it looks like its here to stay.

Ahh good old fashion racist hockey jokes. NOW we're getting somewhere.

The utter disrespect for the game he's being PAID to host the ceremony for? It doesn't help that he obviously needs to hire a better writer.

But he isn't smug at all!

congrats Myers. And great job Jimmy on a great season.

Seriously tho... this host guy is just embarrassing the NHL. I'd be more embarrassed by all of this if I knew people were actually watching.

YAYYYYY DATSYUK! WOOOOOO. CONGRATS!!!! they should change it to the Datsyuk Trophy. Epic speech. His english has really.... improved.

Wow. This is already sooo terrible. This host might be the most annoying ******* I've ever had to watch. This whole process just makes a huge joke out of the NHL.

#2002787 Do Wings fans want another Yzerman?

Posted by hooon on 22 June 2010 - 04:42 PM

Wings have no shortage of leadership in the locker room. In fact, as far as leadership goes, we probably have more than any other team in the league. Some of them are vocal, some lead by example.

I would love another Yzerman, but we all know its kind of impossible. For one, I don't see us getting any top 5 overall picks any time soon (I hope), and also, I think we got pretty lucky with Yzerman, having him turn out the way he did.

I think Z will make for a great captain, and will lead very similarly to how Lids did.

#2002549 Sakic vs Yzerman Debate

Posted by hooon on 22 June 2010 - 12:50 PM

Seems like everyone there just based their answer off of who had more points. Everyone knows Yzerman took a step back in his point production in order to become a solid player defensively, I cannot say the same for Sakic. I also think those results might be skewed simply based on the fact that other than Wings fans, most other NHL fans seem to dislike the Wings for one reason or another, while the Aves never really received the universal jealousy/hatred.

Sakic is great, so is Yzerman, and their strengths and skill sets are completely different. Its true I'm biased as well, but I'd choose Yzerman all day long.
