Loved this image scrolling through my Twitter feed this morning over coffee:

#2681226 Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit

Posted by Jersey Wing on 01 July 2016 - 11:41 AM

OK, Mr. Salient here. A week ago everyone loved Holland for dumping the Datsyuk contract into the Arizona desert never to be heard from again. Probably eaten by dingos. The fact they had any money to get a good quality player (yes he's a solid #2 center and hey, would you look at that he can still wear #51) is partially due to the contract dump. Give Kenny a break. No, he didn't sign a player to put the Wings over the top. Know how many GM's in the NHL put themselves over the top with the players available today? Zero. Lucic in Edmonton, LOL Mongo pleeeeeeease.

If you're mad at Holland for the money, that set itself up in the previous years of treading water and not being a destination hotspot anymore. That's why you have to pay more to get good players and incredible amounts for great ones. Becoming a slave to the streak and keeping it alive has cost the Wings and it showed again today.

There may be more help on the way...

A little song tonight sent out to one Ken Holland from Red Wings nation on WLGW.

Stax of wax and platters that matter, it's 11:39, 21 minutes before the witching hour on the eastern seaboard and here's Bette Midler

Must see! Don Cherry and Ron McLean talk about Gordie and Grapes tells a hilarious story about the first thing Gordie ever said to him...

Please, I beg of everyone with this petition, let Mr. Howe pass and let the family move on before you put the Illitch family in the uncomfortable position of probably NOT changing the name of the arena, especially since the Gordie Howe bridge is being built.

I love Gordie Howe and the Red Wings as much as life itself but don't use his passing to pressure the owners right now and make them say something unpopular.

RIP Big Man.

You built what we all enjoy today, there are no words that can tell you how much that means to all of us in Wings nation.

#2675927 ECF : Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

As someone who has learned far too much about knees from my own meniscus tears, a torn acl and a tear in the mcl in one knee, three years of PT and a partial replacement next month, I think the way Bishop went down is ACL related. Straight stretch too far down the middle. Not saying he tore it but his reaction tells me it's bad.

#2675333 Kentucky Derby: Nyquist

Late jockey change at Churchill Downs: The owner has decided it's best if Nyquist gets ridden by Wings fans just like at JLA.

Don't like Drouin? Has Hickey got a hit for you. 100% clean and legal. Reminded me immediately of Konstantinov.

#2675025 Marquette's Lakeview Arena named Kraft Hockeyville winner!

Posted by Jersey Wing on 03 May 2016 - 05:59 PM

Hats off to Lakeview, the cozy little barn on the shore of Lake Superior, that beat out a rink in Calgary to be this year's Kraft Hockeyville arena and they get $150K in arena upgrades/fixes and a preseason NHL game.

I spent many many nights at Lakeview as an NMU underclassman enjoying those Wildcats. Dallas Drake and Jim Hiller, former Wings, both played there.

5$ more dollars BECAUSE ST. LOUIS BEAT THE STUPID HAWKS in the first round!

#2673327 ECQF Game 5 Post-GDT: at Tampa Bay 1, Red Wings 0 (TB Wins, 4-1)

Look, did Mrazek screw up? Oh you bet. Did he screw up any worse than Osgood on Jamie Baker AND Jamie Langenbrunner? No. He did win two cups here as primary guy in the playoffs though.

I'm going Team Mrazek and even though Jimmy's a quality guy I'm getting old and right now PM gives us the best chance to win the Cup again.

#2673326 We all know if you're a Hawks fan your upbringing was questionable

Posted by Jersey Wing on 24 April 2016 - 07:36 AM

Last night (and I'm three weeks away from a partial knee replacement) I see this guy, 20-25, you can't tell sometimes with Blackhawks fans they've had such hard lives and run-ins with the law. He's sitting with his gym bag in front of him instead of offering his seat to one of the two ladies on either side of him. I got up and offered my seat to a pregnant woman and my knee hurts like hell this morning. This guy, well, it's upbringing. Either you do or you don't. The guy with the Wings t-shirt on (after wearing it proudly even in defeat at Shake Shack in Madison Square Park last night) gives up his seat, the Hawks fan does not.

Which fanbase is Goofus and which is Gallant in the Hilites Magazine of hockey?
