#2529642 Well...at least we're not Philadelphia. Giroux Arrested.

If we play Philadelphia in the playoffs I wonder if this Giroux issue would ever make it's way into the Photoshopping thread. Hmmmmmm, I wonder...

#2529145 Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

Posted by Jersey Wing on 01 July 2014 - 08:42 PM

Let's not overlook the possibility of a trade or two. This was a notoriously weak free agent class yesterday and it didn't improve much by today. The prevailing attitude from most was that the Amazing Kenzini shouldn't overpay for crap. To that end until the Quincey signing he'd done a good job neither paying someone too much nor signing empty calories. But the Quincey thing. I threw up in my mouth a little.

We as Red Wing nation need to decide if we're more upset we didn't sign a player or two who could put us over the top from this crop or are we more upset some free agents may have snubbed Detroit. If it's the former then maybe a big trade might help move the team forward ala Shanahan. If it's the latter then yeah, that sucks. Though I'm sure Niskanen and Dorpik were sold on the Crapitals the moment they got to the Verizon Center and looked up at all those championship banners in the rafters. Perhaps other forces are at work beyond the Red Wings reach ie the status of the city in receivership. They can however build the new stadium YESTERDAY.

I'm hoping a trade can be worked before I start losing faith.

Look, even if you sign Boyle and Volchenkov/Strahlman you've improved and padded the defense. Boyle is incredibly smart and might be able to teach Brendan Smith the RIGHT time to jump into a play as he does it so well. Add any two of those guys to Kronner and The Big E and Smith, Dekeyser and Kindl and that's not bad at all.

With as young as the Wings have become the last couple years I'd be happy to add Iginla on a wing and Boyle on the back end for a 1 or 2 year deal.

IMHO

#2521416 Bettman getting a raise (again) 8 - 8,3 million in 2012 - 2013

I think he's over the salary cap for commissioners.

Maybe Bettman can fight the Mountain as Tyrion's champion.

#2520022 Wings have the #1 & #2 most overpaid players (per point) in the NH

I have a gut feeling David Clarkson owes Satan his soul for those years in NJ. I mean, he didn't have to look far to make a deal now did he?

Weiss, Tootoo, and Sammy PLUS a truckload of plastic rats.

That should get it done.

$23 by my math but I'll round up to $30 since we only had one round.

#2515754 Wings Roster great on paper ?

Posted by Jersey Wing on 25 April 2014 - 10:51 AM

I don't think people need to panic because it's not as bad as many say nor is it as competitive as many others like to think (with their hearts). Jimmeh is ours like it or not. With his money he's going to be in Detroit quite a spell. He can become Chris Osgood or he can become Tim Cheveldae, the jury is still out. It's up to him. Before they won the back to back cups in 97-98 they didn't make massive changes to put them over the top. A Sandstrom here, a Rouse there, Homer for Dino, and not a big deal at the time when they got an aging Russian center from Vancouver (That's dumb people said, they're already so old). I agree some size and sandpaper is needed. Babcock admitted it by putting in Bert last night. If they can find a couple bangers/cornermen with even a little pop that would allow Babcock a proper energy and checking line. If Zetterberg and Datsyuk can play together on a line consistently they should have 2-3 really good years left. Find the supporting cast. I'd take any and all offers on one barnyard animal. If you can add the aforementioned bigger versions of Glendening and Helm send him away at a discount. We as a fanbase can't keep waiting for this jackass to stud again.

Another defenseman, at least as good as Ericsson is now is necessary. No more 6th or 7th guys Kenny, a top 4. Now. Think Larry Murphy not Jason Woolley (As always Sparty On!). Also, our defensemen are too nice. I'll bet Jimmy Howard would like a crease clearer like a Jamie Macoun, certified d***head. Another not that expensive change for the better at the time.

3-4 middling changes I think could make a big difference and for now keep guys like Andersson and Jurco hungry and not having to play big minutes every night. I did have a nightmare where I woke up in the future in October of 2014 and Kyle Quincey was still playing for Detroit. My wife said I was talking in my sleep saying "No Kyle Quincey, hard off the boards, not up the middle again..." In my nightmare I wake up just as Quincey gives it to Phil Kessel and he shoots and scores. Again Kenny, help me sleep, a TOP FOUR guy.

#2515574 ECQF - Game 4 - Bruins 3 at Red Wings 2 (F/OT)

Posted by Jersey Wing on 24 April 2014 - 10:21 PM

No complaining. They played hard, they hit, they didn't get pushed around, they scored a PP goal, they were Boston's equal for the most part tonight but the hockey gods just weren't handing out the luck for us tonight.

Only one thing to do, play harder in game 5

#2514220 4th Annual Playoff Money On The Board!

Posted by Jersey Wing on 22 April 2014 - 11:29 PM

We need SCORING! The Wings need a boost.

For game 4 5$ for every goal by Franzen, Datsyuk, Nyquist or Tatar

For game 4 a Brendan Smith goal is worth $20
