So apparently coming down from 2-0 against St Louis in enemy territory is not proof that this team has heart and can win tough games.
This (Wings) team has it in them. We know what they can do when they really want it. I know there are no guarantees which team will show up, but to say this team is incapable of competing when the going gets tough is just wrong.
For those of you who are not only doubting the wings but are questioning their character just remember this: "Those who stay will be champions."
This is why Kenny signed Ericcson for so much. Big E is going to use his size and strength and pressure other GMs into acquiring Hudler. This makes great sense.
The lot of you are shockingly spoiled. Which other team has had the success that the Wings had? Which other GM has brought success like Holland has? And now you feel that because of one bad move, because of one rough offseason, he should be fired. Fans of every other team tell me that they think Holland is the BEST. I feel pity for he and for others in the organization that so many of you have so utterly lost perspective, from so many years of success that they have given you, that you have lost the ability to be appreciative for the fact that you have a great team to cheer for every year.
He promised us great things this offseason; we have the right to want the Wings to ice the best team on the ice every year.
I don't care what people have said about Holland for his past work, if this is true he should be fired, I don't care who flames me. Whats right is right and whats wrong is wrong. That better be the wrong numbers folks.
I agree one hundred percent. He had a great run, but he is losing his touch.
Arguably was one of the worst players in the Boston cup run. He isn't going to be hungry for a championship either. But, he will probably end up on our team. God, we are turning into some retirement team as of late.
Pulkkinen had some freak injuries, he wasn't injury prone, and just played a full SML season and competed in the playoffs and WJHC. He's fine. Why do we have to wait 10 years to satisfy you? I'll get back to you in a couple months to see our guys tearing up leagues that 1st rounders aren't even doing as well in.
Yeah some leagues overseas don't count. I view it as NHL or bust, that is all that matters. NHl is the toughest league out there, doing well in the SML is nice, but until I see this kid being able to sustain many rigorous NHL seasons, I don't buy the hype. Why would no other team draft him, if he was such a young and upcoming dynamic player. On this site, Holland and the draft staff is often viewed as some special god that is able to whisk players out of nowhere. Yes, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and even Mule were great decisions by the staff to draft, but not all these young guys are going to end up like them. Other teams have just as competent gms and draft staffs (que the Burke jokes here).
