#2237803 Quebec culture minister upset at Habs

Posted by bogeygolfer on 21 December 2011 - 04:23 PM

What you americans arent understanding is that Quebec is a majority french province who have been striving for decades to preserve their language. The canadiens are a major symbol of the french people, they have sport shows where all they talk about is the habs. Now they have a teams with like zero french players of any significance, an owner who never talks to the media, a gm who never talks to the media, and now an entire coaching staff that can't speak french. Jacque Martin literally did all the interviews for that team. I know that montreal is pretty bilingual, but the entire province is habs crazy. 90% of the fans are french. So who will now be the spokesman for the team? Could you imagine how pissed you'd be if the no one froms the wings where ever avialable for interviews? now multiply that by 10. Thats how they feel, its totally understandable they atleast dont have an assistant coach who can speak french. Is that too much to ask?

#2240989 Rupp 1st Goal, Then Salute at WC

Posted by LeftWinger on 03 January 2012 - 12:03 PM

IMO, any kind of "dance" or strange celebration outside of a fist pump or raising your arms up then hugging you teammates should be penalized in ALL sports. Score a goal, Homerun, Touchdown and dance around like a damn fool like you are bigger than the game then it's a penalty. I know they don't have penalties in baseball, but enough of the chest bumps and crazy handshakes. Enough of the endzone charades and dances and enough of the "salutes" and "discount double play's." Score, pump your fists, hug teammates, get congratulated and move on. Nothing ruins a great touchdown/goal/homerun more than the kind of stuff that goes on after. (not so much happens in hockey, but the other sports got to do something about it.)

 :hysterical: at the negs. Thanks! I think I may just do a dance!

#2237977 Official "24/7" 2011 Thread

This show is a joke for not covering Andreas Lilja.

Guy has pulled more ***** than the rest of the team combined, yet he can't get one second of airtime.

Nice going HBO. They'd rather cover that idiot Talbot apparently.

Shanny wouldn't dare.

Would you suspend a man that looks like the guy from the film "300"?

Lilja doesn't look like Gerard Butler's character in 300. Gerard Butler's character in 300 was made to look like Lilja.

#2212875 Eric Nystrom on waivers

His father is from Sweden and he has a Swedish last name. Would be a good fit here. :D

Just sayin.......

#2205255 Your Favorite Wings Lines Ever

Posted by haroldsnepsts on 26 August 2011 - 04:16 PM

All great choices.

Maybe not my all-time favorite, but as a blast from the past, I'd say Gallant, Yzerman and Probert. Man they were a fun line to watch.

my guess is it's gimmicky swill.

#2159758 How would you coach the opposing team?

Posted by egroen on 27 April 2011 - 11:31 PM

Take blind runs at Datsyuk.
Don't bother to clear the crease, Detroit is inept there.
Rotating goalies twice every period confounds the Wings.
Play your enforcers. All of them.
Don't waste your time chasing rebounds.
Shots from the red line are key.
Slow and steady vs. Detroit.
Taunt Bertuzzi.
Focus top defensive pairings on Helm.
Find a way to get C. Lemieux back.
Murray needs to be on the ice every second with Datsyuk.
Thornton needs his fast food.
Remember, Detroit is old - that means they suck.
Exploit Lidstrom.
Play keep away in the neutral zone.
Work on endurance: Run the bleachers before and after every game.
Steroids.
Neimi just won a Cup: Count on him to steal most games.
Stare down Babcock.
Study hours of tape, and finally figure out just what Holmstrom is saying.
Tony Little motivational tapes coupled with sleep deprivation.
Publicly insult and mock Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman and the Ilitches.
Relax, you beat them in 5 last year.

And finally: Touch the Octopus!

#2159592 How would you coach the opposing team?

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 27 April 2011 - 08:29 PM

I would coach them to punch the soft euros in the mouth and start scrums after whistles. :D

I would also coach my goalie to wear very, very large pads.

Funny, you would think Jesus would know the difference between "you're" and "your" but maybe not since he spoke Hebrew

i think he spoke aramaic.

#2108296 2/2 GDT: Franzen 5 + Red Wings 2 (7) at Senators (5)

That is so sad... I'm glad you'll never be the Red Wings' GM. But please, be anyone elses.

Awww...I'm so sorry you don't agree.

Obviously, other people on this site have a chance to be Wings GM, but I don't. Or maybe my chances were completely ruined with my post. Guess I'll just have to live with that.

cool jersey, bro. you should have picked #10, though, as that's how many more cups we have than your team.
