In Topic: Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

I can understand Holland wanting to be loyal and all, but shouldn't Cleary have some accountability also?

Shouldn't he be able to, you know, still play hockey? And be able to repay the loyalty with results on the ice?

I sure hope he can prove us all wrong, but it seems doubtful, as others have pointed out, that his body will be able to hold up for very long

And also, in the backs of all our minds we can see Cleary making the opening night roster, perhaps even in the top 6, regardless of how he performs, over Jurco since he can still be sent down w/o having to clear waivers

Someone should tell Holland that just b/c a player can be sent down, it doesn't mean they should be, esp. in favor of Dano

are we in some sort of time warp?

is this July 1st, or April 1st? b/c Holland's gotta be pranking us with this signing

unless this is part of some epic sign-and-trade deal, then.... crap

Holy. Hell.

I thought they weren't even considering bringing him back, let alone giving him a raise

figured they would've at least tried some other options first, not just give up after the first day and settle for a guy who clearly isn't what we need in the top 4

on top of a crappy work day, this just.... sucks

I wonder if DeKeyser will actually shake Lucic's hand after it's over?

How nice to make four million dollars and work 20 nights per year. The life of Johan Franzen. They have to get rid of this bum.

If Holland would realize that it's more about his production vs. his cap hit, then maybe they would. It's his listless play and lack of leadership that is a growing cancer in the locker room. You've gotta think by now his teammates are starting to get tired of waiting for him to start playing like he can. He's simply too much of an enigma to sort out, and he's also not getting any younger as he'll turn 35 this year....

but don't get me wrong, I don't actually believe they'll buy him out

though I can dream, can't I?
