Tonight is a bad night. No candy-coating it. Montreal won, Boston won. Got smacked in Tampa in a battle for first.

That being said it always seems a team with a winning streak gets blown out when the streak gets broken. What the Wings need to avoid at all costs is to lose say 4 of the next 5 now that the streak is over because that seems to happen a lot too.

It's annoying as hell to me that Mrazek is going through this, but as I've said before, long-run, this is a good thing. Like many others, I believe Mrazek has a ton of potential to be a great NHL goalie, but as I've said time and time again about young prospects, your ability to be successful in this league will boil down to your ability to continue growing and continue pushing yourself to work harder and harder, even if you're already playing in the NHL.

Mrazek is young and clearly still has some issues to sort out in his game, but the sooner he sees how hard he's going to have to work and how good he is going to have to be on a consistent basis to be an NHL regular, the better. Mrazek is a confident guy who loves to play, so I believe he'll do what it takes to elevate his game.

This is the kind of opportunity and test that's likely to inspire him to work harder than he would've otherwise this offseason to come into training camp an NHL-level goalie. Rough as it is to watch, I think this is a blessing in disguise for Mrazek.

And thankfully, we've found ways to win despite his struggles. This game's not over yet...

6'7" and he goes down like that :glare:

Getting pushed in like that, Abby should have made the contact worth the two minutes.

Early goal by TB. Helm scores to tie it. Pretty even period. Sheahan stopped on a breakaway. Soft goal by Mrazek at the end of the period.

Thank you very much.

Here's hoping the boys get the Wheelz on da bus for the second and hit the JUCK F***ING POTT to light it up and rack up enough PP goals for BoS's bunghole that it's like a kick to the yambag for TB. (Did I force in enough retro LGW memes there?)

XO and Smith are getting manhandled tonight. Swap Smith and E to balance out the pairings.

Just as good as your sense of humor I imagine.

Let me try to make a hard knee high pass by you then and we'll see how many out of a 100 that you manage to bat down and stop right on your blade...

You know what guarantees that an elite NHL player isn't going to intercept a pass right in front of my net?  Not passing it right in front of my net when I have options on either side of me that are wide open and waiting for the puck.  I'm have no idea why you're defending Ericsson in this case.  Its pretty cut and dry a stupid decision by him, especially nursing a one-goal lead deep in the third, and one of several unforced turnovers that he's committed in this game.

In what fresh hockey hell do we go into the 3rd up 4-1 and ultimately have to go to overtime?

The hockey hell of having Jonathan Ericsson play on your top pairing.

leave it to LGW to include the classic whooping boy on a goal that he had nothing to do with

I agree. No way Mrazek is to be blamed on that play. Would have been a great stop if he had made the save but man that's a terrible giveaway and such a fast play your not expecting.
