Lots of ambivalence about Bertuzzi on the boards these days. Prior to tonight's game, half of LGW wanted him off the team. Anybody willing to eat crow?
sure I'll admit I wanted him off the team when he was sucking, like a lot of other people did, but that's how it is with us fickle sports fans I guess; if Sammy somehow goes on a 10 game goal-scoring streak I'd eat crow for that, too(though if that were to happen, my head would probably explode before I ever got to a keyboard)
You would think the speed and skill of the third line in the playoffs last season would have made some lasting impact on Holland/Babcock. Instead they insist on icing an old and slow team, with veterans that all provide the same attribute of nothing. There's simply no excuse for Tatar and Nyquist not to play over the likes of Samuelsson, Cleary and Bertuzzi. These veterans aren't making the Red Wings better and this continues to be the biggest glaring flaw of the organization.
It's as though they turn their brains off when it comes to playing a vet or a rook, it's always vet that wins by default, regardless of performance
I am so confused by our roster right now. Colaiacovo played well (when he wasn't injured, obviously) and gets bought out, leaving us with 7 defensemen.
We don't buy out any forwards, re-sign Miller and plan on re-signing Cleary and Brunner. Including Andersson, Nyquist and Tatar that gives us 16 forwards and we STILL can't properly fill the top 2 lines.
I almost would rather have seen Quincey bought out, if Colo weren't so injury prone; Quincey's cap hit is higher not to mention he has been a huge disappointment thus far, he provides almost nothing offensively and is not physical enough, especially for a guy who's supposed to be in the top-4 and being paid the 2nd most among our d-men
as for the forwards, we can only hope Holland at least has some sort of contingency plan to get us to the 14 forwards the team plans to carry; I just hope he picks the right 14
