If only Crosby wasn't forced to play a defensive role on a Western team He only gets, what, 7 mins of PP time a night? Poor guy. That's what the Pens get for running the trap instead of playing a high offense system.
Well do you think Guerin/Dupuis are the same talent level of Ovie's linemates?
He's not, but he still may finish with more goals. Ovechkin hasn't been very hot lately. My guess is, with nothing else to play for, the Caps might make a more conscious effort to get the puck to AO, though.
Yeah, just think when Ovechkin's complete game revolves around scoring goals he'll find a way to score more. He's too gifted and competitive not to.
Please stop indulging Carman. I am 100% serious when I say that he is ONLY saying all of this stuff in order to get a rise out of you. That is his sole purpose on these forums. He shows up to make people angry. He's a consummate troll. I'm not kidding.
Wait I'm the troll?
Yet directly in the post you quoted were references of male genitally and absolutely zero reference to any statistic or respected observational value outside of "Hossa looked like s***"?
Sorry but please actually contribute something to the discussion, I'd love to hear someone actually knowledgeably articulate how they can actually believe that last playoffs, "Hossa was s***", and "Datsyuk looked like the best player on ice".
Hossa is an example of a guy who gets by on skills in the regular season. Come playoffs when hard work trumps skill, well look what happened.
To say that injury is what caused him to play bad is retarded. He looked bad in the first couple rounds as well. He scored 2 goals in game 2 of the first and second series. Not exactly when he was needed. You can't say that last year he didn't disappear in the playoffs because he did. You go from scoring 40 to being the team scapegoat in the playoffs. He choked hard.
Do you hold Datsyuk to this same standard?
It's called injuries. They happen in hockey.
You aren't a playoff choker when you score 76 points in 98 games.
Ok if his injury was that bad, he would've been out of the line up. He was skating fine and could stick handle when he wanted too. He was just inconsistent and along for the ride. He has no heart at all. Cleary played with a broken hand and a torn groin and still looked like one of the best on the ice.
Hossa did skate well, but he had zero velocity on his shot.
He got hit towards the end of the Anaheim series and didn't look the same after it.
To say an NHL player doesn't have heart just makes you lose all credibility, especially when the said player has lead several teams to deep playoff runs and is a perennial 40 goal scorer.
Hockey is a team game, there was plenty of blame to go around.
I think its not the fact that Hossa is solely to blame. I think most people are more blaming him for basically falling face first on expectations for the type of player he is paid and is. Hossa is rediculous, unfortunately I live in Chicagoland area and don't have access to other teams so I watch the hawks. Hossa is a very skilled and unique player. The fact he is paid that much means he is supposed to perform in those situations. He was making that much money and struggled in the '09 playoffs especially the finals. The reason people blame him for the loss is that he didn't live up to his reputation, paygrade, and expectations.
You said nothing about him facing an injury that would directly interfere with his ability to shot the puck.
