The entire defense has been playing worlds better than we've seen even just last series.  They all deserve props, even Smith and Quincey.  There was one play I think in the first behind Jimmy where Quincey flat out battled the guy with everything he had and I couldn't believe me eyes.

Hate early afternoon games but lets get this done. Split on the road and take care of bussiness at home.

So at the joe they have an add on the jumbottron with a number to text if you have any concerns about an unruly fan or something. I texted them that my concern was Kyle Quincey being on this team.

so in march, detroit has to go to ohio, then back to detroit then to calgary, then edmonton, then vancouver, then back to detroit, then to anaheim,  phoenix, san jose then back to detroit... detroits schedule is just fine, you're right, my bad...

The west coast teams have to fly out east just as much as the Wings do.  Don't forget they have to play out in Detroit Chicago St Louis Columbus and Nashville too. It's not like the Red Wings are the only team in the league that has to travel long distance.  And my whole point anyway was that a few conference games is not on the same level as having a divisional opponent a thousand miles away.

That could take years, and right now, the league needs to address more urgent issues, like the fact that a team from western Canada plays in the Southeast Division, or the fact that two teams in the eastern timezone play in the Western Conference. 

 

If we sit back and wait on the Coyotes then nothing will change. We'll still be complaining about the same issues 5 or 6 years from now. 

 

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Phoenix stays or goes. If they do move then one thing I am willing to bet is that it won't be somewhere in the eastern timezone, sorry Metropolitan Toronto. The Maple Leafs, Senators, and Sabres would fight it to the death, and there are too many decent sized markets in the western US that would love to have an NHL franchise, aka Seattle, Portland, and even Kansas City. 

 

I understand that Winnipeg playing in the southeast is a big problem, but there is a much quicker and easier fix than a complete conference realignment.  Winnipeg to the Northwest, Minnesota to the Central, and bump Nashville to the Southeast.  Much easier to shift three teams then completely redo the league.  And this can even act as a temporary fix until we can really address realignment down the line once Phoenix's fate is clear as well as expansion and other teams moving.

Do you really think Holland is going to come out in his pressers and say exactly what you want him to say? GM's dont answer to us , they answer to their boss.

He's GM for a reason and whether you like his decisions or hate them the bottom line is that without him, we wouldnt have cup expectations year in and year out.

The Wings brass know what the pulse of the team and their needs are and we all have our opinions as to that as well.

Its fun to rant and expouse all of our personal NHL GM experience but we could be 15-0 right now and plenty of you debbie downers would still be moaning and wanting Hollanfs head on a stick and ***** how hes doing it by luck or others peoples hard work.

Way I see it is that the 'rules' keep changing and the field of play has been leveled and still the Wings are in the hunt.

60 minutes of hockey is all this team needs....I dont have the answer as to how to get it...Players decide how hard and if they want to compete...bot GM's.

Two things I need to point out.  One "We could be 15-0 right now".  Yes and we could also bey 0-15 right now.  That kind of argument doesn't work because the opposite is just as likely. 

 

Two, we're not being debbie downers.  We're being REALISTS.  It's easy to sit up and say that your favorite team looks good and is just having bad luck  It's a lot harder to try and look at the situation objectively.  The fact is, Holland's plan the last four years has been try and mimic the 09 success and that we are right there and maybe only a small piece or two a way.  Look where that's gotten us.  13 playoff wins in 3 years.  That's 3 games a year. 

 

Right now the Wings are suffering from Pistons syndrome.  The 08-09 course has run it's course and the rebuild needed to be started a while ago.  IF not two off seasons ago then last off season for sure.  And Holland hasn't which is a big mistake.

He is a good goalie in the nhl, with poor defense in front of him. name 10 goalies that are "elite"

 

If 10 goalies are "elite" then they aren't really elite after all...

I heard that this kid went to the Titus Young Sr. Academy of Sportsmanship.

Terrible attitude the kid has.  If he wants to be the starter he needs to earn it.  Not throw a tantrum when he doesn't get his way.  This a reflection on the state of society today.
