In the news today Kenny Holland has signed Joey Kocur to a one game contract and rumors circulate about voodoo rituals that have taken place in upper Red Wings offices and the surprise announcement of another one game contract will be awarded to a former number 24.
God I miss the bruise brothers Dats would be avenged for sure
Wrist shots to the other teams jersey crest? Offsides? Turnovers? Standing around and getting caught out of position? Increasing the blood pressure of Red Wings fans [just like Dan Cleary] who'd rather see a young prospect in his spot?
King Crane, thank you for backing me up on the veterans thing. If they want to do something nice for them, why not play the song that is associated with that branch of the military. Each branch has their own song. I'd much rather hear "Anchors Aweigh" or the Marine Corps song than I would some stupid, sappy, phony piece of crap.
Coach Mike Babcock does not subscribe to the theory that his team isn't getting on the inside, that most of its shots are coming from the perimeter. "I hear (team broadcaster) Mickey Redmond say, 'They're keeping them on the outside.' So the good thing about that is that I watched the game, and watched it on the computer and then 'NHL On the Fly' played it again,'' Babcock said. "So I watched it three times to see if that's the truth, to see if we're never getting to the net, we're never getting on the inside, and all I can do is go off what I see and I don't think that's the truth.''
Now, I've only watched the game once, but I'm pretty sure a lot of our shots were indeed from the perimeter. And as far I'm concerned, we did have an incredibly tough time getting to the middle of the ice.
Is anyone else puzzled by why Babcock can't see this? Or isn't willing to admit it? I'm no coach, but getting to the inside would be one of my main areas of concern for Game 5.
It's time to go with the youth and get bigger and stronger. Bert,Homer and Lidstrom all need to retire. Hudler needs to go play in midget league.
Howard needs another goalie to push him for the starting job.
Last year, TB beat PIT after going down 3-1, Chicago won 3 straight after going down 3-0 to the Canucks, the Wings won 3 straight after going down 3-0 to the Sharks. In 2010 Montreal beat Washington after going down 3-1, and Philly beat Boston 4 straight after going down 3-0, In 2009, Washington beat the Rangers after falling 3-1 in the series. Bottom line, hockey is a funny sport and these things happen more and more each year. It's not over until one team wins 4 games.
To Howard's defense, before he was injured, he was on pace to be Vezina nominee. I think the injury must be lingering. He has shown flashes of brilliance and really stole some games, like game 2 of this series but today, he was average and with a less than average team of forwards and defence, it ain't going to to it.
