#2292540 Too many damn pretty boys

Posted by anthonyn66 on 18 April 2012 - 08:17 PM

I think the problem is that the team lacks heart. You could see on the last few minutes of the game when we were down, Nashville worked a hell of a lot harder than Detroit did, and it all culminated to the Legwand goal on the forecheck. We lack urgency, we don't show signs of desperation. Babcock probably has the "stay calm" mentality in them, but I think that message wears out very quickly and can become ineffective, especially with players that have already won the cup. I that's the biggest problem, the younger players that have won a cup are all happy with that and don't seem to have the motivation to work their asses off for another post season. They aren't coming to the end of their careers, so they assume they can make a run the next year. This is true for players like Hudler, Filppula, Franzen. The players that don't have a cup are playing their best but simply aren't big enough or gritty enough to make a huge impact. These are the Nyquists, Emmertons, Mursaks, Millers, etc. I feel getting some grittier players who are hungry, for both top 6 and bottom 6 would help this team a lot.

I've never seen such an overreaction in my life. 12 hours ago we were gonna "smoke those fools from Nashville" and everyone was calling for a blowout. Now we're too old and too slow and not "gritty" enough to compete?

News flash.....we were too old, not fast enough and not gritty enough in each of the past 3 seasons.....and waiving pixie dust and hoping a Parise falls in our lap isn't the answer.

This team has to start making the tough decisions. Saying goodbye to Homer and Brad Stuart to make way for a Nyquist and Brendan Smith....in a word :Rebuild: and the fallout is gonna be first round playoff exits or perhaps not making the playoffs at all.......that is the reality of it. This team has given us a great run.....tip your hats to them, pat them on the back and say good job and start rebuilding.

it wasn't that bad, hank was selling it, but the fact that it happened at the end of the game was bogus

Does if MATTER if Hank was selling it? That's just not something you do!

he got a penalty, it was definitely goon like behavior. And yes it matters, diving is an atrocity to the sport.

#2258349 22 is the actual record

Posted by hillbillywingsfan on 18 February 2012 - 08:19 PM

But But when the record was broke back then the planets were aligned in the right quadrant of planet x times the atmosphers lower pressure = the rate of netrons from the 5th star towards orion's belt. and That only happens once every 1000 years so there is no way the wings can tie the record. SO SUCK ON THAT WINGS FANS.

yea...that's how crazy it sounds to me.hahahaha WE WIN.

Has Nostradamus predicted that Preds are going to be champs in this decade ?

Nostradamus has mentioned the Preds in his 5th quatrain...

In the time of the Spring the booger eaters from the south drank in celebration as joy was seen from all corners of the earth. No neck humans (Trotz) looked up at the sky and cried as his army raged on an ice sheet with strange colours on it. The booger eaters ruled and showed passion and courage as they triumphed against the men from the city of the woman with the torch (New York). The No Neck man inspired many as his army swept through and torched their enemies with extreme vigor and mammoth high flying boogers all through the south as they carried a strange looking silver chalice held high above their heads for all booger dwellers to see..

#2251227 Punishment for throwing octupus on the road

Posted by luvmnger on 02 February 2012 - 04:06 AM

i used the "grenade" style while in phoenix when bertuzzi scored the shootout winner.

everyones hands went in the air, i threw it up from behind me and continued the upward motion with "high fives" to everyone around me.

the problem that occured was the buddy next to me went closer to get pictures and the security swarmed him and held all of us for "questioning"

during this time they never once looked my way with any questions.

one security guard had a serious bug up his ass, assumed that since my friend was so interested in getting a photo,(which he didnt get to) that he must be guilty.

my friend, of course egged the guard on with, so columbo, you saw me,huh?, and where did i keep the creature on my person? would my hands have some strange smell to them? you do realize that the guilty one is getting away, dont you? etc....then mid questioning, they changed it to, dead animal. so the cops would be more inclined to stick around.

4 security guards, 3 cops, and 20 minutes of video review couldn't figure out who threw it.

the police apologized, and then chewed out the security guard for wasting his time with this dribble.

so, there you have my adventure....be a ninja, or dont do it at all.

big brother is watching.

I'm going to attend the Wings Predators game in Nashville in March. Throwing an octupus on the ice at a Wings game is on my bucket list. I'm reading about fans at Joe Louis getting arrested and fined $500 and so forth, so what would they do to me in Nashville? If fans are getting treated that bad in Detroit, God only knows what they'll do to someone on the road.

I think Octopi should be reserved for the playoffs for the tradition aspect, but whatever floats your boat.

#2250400 How Would You Fix the All Star Game?

Posted by FifeHockeyNut on 28 January 2012 - 03:29 AM

Use Eastern/Western format and let them play for home ice advantage in SCF. Schedule the game a bit earlier in the seasons (e.g. Christmas time) such that all the players are interested. It is THAT simple. Still we will not see it.

Think the system we have for playoffs works fine and makes for a more interesting season. I see no reason for restructuring our playoff qualification system in order to make an exhibition game more interesting.

Yeah, the All-Star game has always been for kids and sponsors.. I care about it less now and I believe it's simply because I'm not a kid anymore.

I think they need to loosen up a bit to make it more exciting... I hate when the linesman calls a close offside in an All-Star game. What's the point? Just let them play pond hockey.

I read an idea on another forum that they could breathe life into the All Star fantasy draft by running a sweepstakes for two lucky fans to be the ones who make the draft selections, it would get rid of the staleness of Alfredsson taking all his teammates and Swedes etc. The two winners also get to set the lines that the coach works with, and perhaps stand behind the bench for the game because why not.

#2249055 Does the NHL suspend Toews?

Posted by akustyk on 24 January 2012 - 05:31 PM

Hartnell is an all-star? Give me a break... We'll finally see someone like Rory Fitzpatrick making all-stars game.

I'm actually wondering how is it, that Hartnell hasn't yet made it to the All Star Game before. he's Flyers workhorse
and one of the hardest working guys in the NHL. He belongs to this game more than a good number of other
choices.

not that I cared about ASG anyway, just to make a point, that this very guy deserves this nomination like few other
in this league...
