#2427280 is anyone happy right now?

Posted by Opie on 05 July 2013 - 02:47 PM

Weiss is better and cheaper than Fil.

If Alfie replaces Cleary, upgrade!

If Alfie Replaces Abby who replaces Cleary Upgrade.

Tatar = Brunner (IMO, will eventually be better).

IMO, the Wings are better than they were at the beginning of game 7 against CHI!

And the D will be better, Dekeyser will be here all year, top 4 is going to be good for a few years now.

Kronner will lead this D (captain it not necessarily scoring, though he probably will lead scoring wise too!)

I agree with Goalie Man Pat, Weiss moves a lot better than Vinny does.

And I think Brunner himself was just interested in finding out what he is worth, his agent on the other hand I think is interested in getting him the most for his client (there is my no crap post for the day).

I think Brunner put himself in a position the Wings didn't want to be in.

WOW, Holland gets Weiss for less than Clarkson went for!

Great signing for a 2nd line center that gets between 55 and 60 points a season!

And contradictory to the freak out posts, it leaves room for plenty of moves and RFA signings!

WE ARE SCREWED HOLLAND SHOULD HAVE STAYED WITH THE YOUNG GUYS!

OH WHAT HE DID, AWWWW WE NEED TO SIGN A SPLASHY NAME!!

/sarcasm~

#2426856 Wings sign Alfredsson to 1-year, $3.5m deal (+$2m bonuses)

Posted by Opie on 05 July 2013 - 12:50 PM

5.5 for a 40 year old who was on pace(over 82 games) for less than 20 goals and less than 50 points while playing more than all Wings forwards other than Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

3.5 (2 in bonuses, if he reaches them)

Reading is overrated!

Well, just basing it on the last day or so, Nill traded a Swede and added an established player still only 21 and a cheap, defensively responsible center in Peverley for prospects.  I can't remember Holland making any trade such as this.

So you do not like Swedes on teams, are you using that for your argument?????

Nill traded and All-star would have been a bit better way to start that, however that doesn't suit your argument as much does it?

That 21 yr old reportedly has off ice/maturity issues, and Rich Peverly is not exactly lighting the world on fire.

And that Swede has 4 times put up > 70 point seasons and was on pace for 60 last season.

Seguin stock has done nothing but go down in Boston, maybe that is part of the environment, maybe that is all on Seguin.

But Seguin has had one season that was as good as Ericsson's worst season.

Lets not judge Nill as some awesome NHL GM, until the regular season starts, heck lets even wait until he has a season or two under his belt.

Remember the should have kept Yzerman over Holland posts, everyone still want Yzerman over Holland as a GM?

#2426794 Brunner Contract Talks

Posted by Opie on 05 July 2013 - 12:30 PM

Maybe Helm can center the 2nd line, Anderson the 3rd, and someone else the 4th. Get BRUNNER, GET HIM, HE IS A STUDDDD. Brunner-Anderson-Nyquest would be the best 3rd line in the league. GETTER DONE KENNY.

LOL, 3 guys with a combined career total games played less than one season is your best 3rd line in hockey?

Really, I think Chi would have something to say about that!

All of you call Nill the real mastermind, were you in the room when the Wings Brass made these decisions?

As I said in another thread:

Did  Nill want Brunner and Holland did not?

Did Holland want Sammy and Nill did not?

Because to me it seems like the org as a whole is in on all decisions, I just don't see how some of these moves are all on Holland and some are all on Nill.

To me it seems like people are arbitrarily assigning blame and credit!

Brunner, over a guy that is a proven 50 pt commodity on a s***ty Florida team?

Man the rose colored glasses are strong with this one.

Does no one remember what happened with Brunnstum?

I hate Abby on the first line, my point is that Alfie is declining, and his 5.5 million is way too much for what he brings.

So, bring up a player you don't think belongs on the first line as a replacement for Alfie on the first line?

Plus his cap hit is 3.5 and a potential for 2 more in bonuses, you cannot count those 2 in bonuses yet, as he has to earn them, and if he earns it what is the issue?

He was on pace for 17 goals. He would be behind Abdelkader on GpG on the Wings.

Right but Abby was on pace for 6 assists, well behind Alfie who was on pace for 32!

Alfie is not one dimensional, he will play very good defense, will go to the net, will set up other players as well.

And that was with Abby playing minutes with Datsyuk, remember Corey Perry giving Abby crap about his totals while playing with Dats?

You think Abby should be playing 1st line minutes over Alfie? Really?

Doesn't really matter as they will probably be on the same line as Alfie is RW and Abby is LW.

Okay, and? Have you looked at his stats? The way he is declining hes probably not going to repeat those stats.

So what he gets downgraded to the # 6 scorer?

You claim that there are youngsters lined up to take his spot, but all of them are unproven, even Nyquist and Tatar did well in less than a half season.

None of the youngsters we (myself included) are all excited about have played a full season in the NHL, plus they are all headed for the dreaded Sophomore slump.

And I am looking at his stats, he has scored 20 goals every year except for a 47 and a 57 game seasons.

He has been a minus twice in his entire career.

In his last full season (2011-2012) he put up 27 32 with a plus 16.

So my question to you would be who's stats are you looking at that make you think a youngster should take his spot?

Which was your original statement!

Stupid move 40, declining, and will deny a younger player a chance.

Who on this team or in this Org had better stats, played a better 2 way game, and can instantly be ready to play on the top line at the start of the season?

What youngster has shown they deserve the top line minutes over Alfie?

This is not a 40 year old who, like Modano, couldn't find a home and was a rebuilding project.

This guy would have been tied with Brunner for #4 scorer on this team.

#2426481 Wings in on Alfredsson

Posted by Opie on 05 July 2013 - 10:45 AM

Those picks could busted easily. You are using hindsight. You could trade the first overall pick for a current top nhl player instead just like taking alfie over a young unproven brunner.

OK, I would rather pick Seth Jones than sign Alfie, but would rather sign Alfie than get in a bidding war over Brunner.

Better?

#2426449 Wings in on Alfredsson

Brunner is a lot younger thank Alfie and can continue to do that for us for years. Not jsut one. As long as we keep Brunner and sign Grabo, I will be happy with signing Alfie as extra.

You are banking a lot on the future of a guy who was unable to keep up with the NHL pace over a half season, he is yet to play a full season in the league and you are extrapolating what he can do based off of what he did in a very small sample size.

I am basing what Alfie can do over a long career worth of accomplishments.

Brunner is an unknown commodity and has people feeling giddy with hope, Alfie is a guy who you know what you are going to get, and that is not nearly as exciting as Brunner's potential.

Also while Brunner is a lot younger than Alfie he is not a 20 year old rookie, he is 27, there is a reason it took him until the age of 27 to be discovered!
