#1994088 Ville Leino Appreciation Thread

Posted by ShanahanMan on 03 June 2010 - 10:28 PM

Based on his s***ty season, lack of improvement and high salary?

You mean based on 60% of a season? And 900,000 isn't that high comparatively speaking.

Detroit didn't have "a little bit of time". If they weren't up against the cap Leino would have stayed.

There are always options. Despite a rough season, Holland shouldn't have turned his sights right to one of our most valuable prospects.

How much was he making?

900,000. Okay....? You do know Kris Draper makes more than that and Kirk Maltby just made a tad less that season.

13 games doesn't make a career.

Oh okay, but 60% of a rookie season does.

Brett Lebda is a defenseman. Not much of a point in getting rid of a defenseman for a forward to replace when you still have to put a defenseman in the lineup anyway.

We have a log jam of defensemen. One (whether it be Lebda or Meech) could have easily been moved. And even if we didn't move a defenseman. Why not get rid of guys we know won't be coming back next year? Maltby? Williams? I would have been fine with either one over Leino who at WORST was a question mark.

Was the man in question short with a badly sunburned face?

I'd rather see Pronger and Philly with the cup then Chicago.

Pronger winning a Conn Smythe won't put his career over Lidstrom's anyways. At least not with level headed fans.

some stupid people has said that pronger is better than lidstrom alltime just because he has a good playoffs. I would hate to see the conn smythe go to him. It must go to chicago and toews!

"How incredible was Ville Leino tonight? By far the best Flyer on the ice, Leino dipsy-doodled his way through the Blackhawks all night long, pacing his linemates, Danny Briere and Scott Hartnell, with his magnificent play. In the locker room after the game, Ian Laperriere shouted over to him 'Detroit should've traded Datsyuk instead of you.'"

Yep this is definitely the guy I would turn to for pinpoint analysis...

#1993702 Ville Leino Appreciation Thread

Everybody gets that people make mistakes. Getting pissed off at management for THIS MISTAKE, when Leino BARELY DID ANYTHING WITH THE RED WINGS, is so stupid and pointless.

How hard is it to spell out for some of you? It can't be described any more clearly for y'all. You want me to write it out in crayon with some drawings?

And once again, my point is that you (and Holland) are basing that off of only half a season's worth of performance. Did you already forget his amazing run with the Wings in 08-09 when he had 9 points in 13 games? Also, by your logic, we should have gotten rid of Franzen (16 points in first 80 games) in the middle of his first season as well. Or would you find a reason for Holland to have been justified then too?

this craig's listing is hilarious. :hehe:

Game Used Stanley Cup Pucks for Sale - $2020 (Philadelphia, PA)

I have in my possession the official game pucks used at the end of Game 1 and Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. These pucks are guaranteed authentic and have been obtained legally within the NHL Rulebook, even if Ben Eager and the Hawks don't like it (see photos below).

Selling for $2020 each obo.

Local buyers only. Please do not e-mail if you live in Illinois. Also note that I don't speak gibberish.

I'm hoping to have two more pucks by Friday if you are interested and possibly more to come but not if an unnamed individual can't stop a wrist shot from the top of the circle taken by a guy who has less career points in 255 games than I had this past season.

God, the KHL is like some guy who offers your girlfriend/wife to sleep with him right in front of you. Classless.

in what sense is it classless? What is the difference when one nhl teams offers more money than another nhl team? In the case when its KHL over NHL its all of a sudden classles... this is so stupid...

:ranting:

This commercial is not only the most retarded thing I've ever seen, but it's an insult to the Red Wings organization, which had to put up with this idiot Leino who had "NO DRIVE" this season because of his laziness. Leino's drive my ass.

And no I don't care if the Finnish posters here lower my rep because of this post.

#1989246 History Will be Made

Are you implying that Leino chose to leave?

I think he just wanted to play on a line with skill players, and Babcock wouldnt let him do it without first serving time on the forth line with scrubs. Ville will be a 30 goal scorer in this league, and we gave him away. I'm getting sick of Keeny giving away good talent for nothing. Or maybe its Babcock's coaching. How could we keep Meech in favor of Quincy, or Williams instead of Leino? How can the Red Wings as an organization so blatently miss talent like that?!

Leino played on a line with Filppula and with other fairly good players for awhile. No dice. He was lazy and he generally sucked. Holland wouldn't have traded him otherwise; as you may have noticed, loyalty is a keystone of this franchise, and so players very rarely get traded unless there's something genuinely wrong with how they're playing. We needed the cap space and Leino wasn't willing to put forth his all, and so he's gone.

Quincey had every chance to prove himself. He got time in the regular season and he played a bunch of games in the '07 playoffs. He didn't even show a glimmer of the offensive talent he has exhibited over the past two seasons. Meech, on the other hand, played quite well when he was thrust into essentially a #1 defense slot during the injury spell in '08. That's why Meech stayed and Quincey did not.

What you're doing here is bitching. You are making complaints that have absolutely no basis in reality. You are engaging in a course of egregious hindsight criticism. What's your problem?
