#2577747 Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick

Yep, we've got our two 35+ year olds. We're good.

From the guy who started the "TANK IT" thread. Your sarcasm is high praise when paired with your track record of prognostication.

I honestly think you may see Q as the odd man out a bit.  SO what happens to Kindl now? He is #8 on the list here in Detroit now....maybe 9 with Ouellet

Why would Quincey sit?  He's been better than Smith ALL SEASON LONG.  Why would they sit a better player?

So do some of you guys even want to win or what? Kenny gave up 2 prospects who likely were never going to see time in the winged wheel. Cole is 36, have you seen him play? He's not Bertuzzi. He can still skate as well as he ever did, and plays a physical power game.

We gave up a second.
But we get our third rounder back.
This is seems like a really good deal.

wtf where'd you hear that? He still has a lot of upside and cole is a 36yr old ufa gotta think a 2nd or 3rd next yr would of been better than giving up on backman

Backman has upside, but Marchenko, XO, Sproul, Jensen are all ahead of him in depth. We couldn't even find a spot in GR and he went back to Sweden. Definitely expendible. He now has a place to play in AHL for Dallas's AHL affiliate.

Some people are impossible to please, you think each and every prospect is going to be future top-6, wrong. We just got bigger, try and appreciate that.

I keep telling myself nothing will happen. That all my anticipation will be met with anticlimax like it does every year, but I just can't stop myself from checking for updates every so often.

You're not alone......

Would you trade Pulkinnen + Smith + 1st for Yandle?

I know this wasn't intended for me, but if the Red Wings got offered that deal for Yandle, you don't even think twice about doing it.

Because unlike Dabura, I don't think the Coyotes give up a player of Yandle's caliber, without getting a Mantha or Larkin type prospect plus much MUCH more in return. Why would they? He's young, one of the best offensive defensemen in the league, he's not a cap problem. They have no reason to trade him, other than them landing a king's ransom in return...

No. It seems like you're against Yandle as a player/in principle.

Anyway, no one's saying they want him at the expense of Larkin or Mantha. I don't even think Arizona will trade him this year. He's a gonner at next year's deadline though.

BUT if he could be had for Pulkinnen + Smith + a 1st, I'd make that deal and you wouldn't because you don't like Yandle for some reason. Which was basically my original point.

I am wrong then, because I want no part of Keith Yandle and what it would cost to get him here... Get over it, he's not going to be Red Wing, not now, not ever...

At one point last night Ken said that in the last three years, the only D man with more PP points than Subban and Markov was Yandle. He's a top 5 offensive defenseman. It blows my mind why you wouldn't want him in Detroit if he could be acquired without losing Larkin or Mantha.

I don't see it happening. But I'm definitely not against it.

#2573464 Zetterberg leaves after 2nd Period; "upper body injury"

Posted by chaps80 on 21 February 2015 - 11:46 PM

man I hope he doesn't have a concussion we don't need our captain out with that s*** its bad enough franzen is basicly mia

Franzen being out is OK with me. Rather his spot be filled by one of the kids who actually wants to play. Hope Z will be alright and back in the lineup soon.

#2556824 Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Posted by F.Michael on 14 December 2014 - 11:55 PM

Rumor has it that Yandle and Boedker can be had.  The asking price for Yandle is rumored to be a top line guy, prospect, and second round pick.  We've got a top line forward on our third line.  No rumored asking price on Boedker.  So...

Franzen, Helm, Kindl (or Andersson), Pulkkinen, 2nd

for

Yandle and Boedker

Which would give us

Nyquist-Z-Abby

Tatar-Pav-Boedker

Jurco-Sheahan-Weiss

Miller-Glendening-Andersson (or Callahan if Andersson went the other way)

Thoughts?

Any trade that invloved  moving Franzen would make me smile.

Pretty sure if we make a trade for a dman, Big E is being bumped out of that #2. Why keep someone there who provides zero offensively?

Because preventing goals is equally as important as scoring them?

Am I missing something here?

#2554793 Jonathan Bernier - Nelson Mandela Comments

He's a hockey player, I didn't expect him to be politically correct and informed - some of those guys live and breathe hockey from the time they can balance on skates as toddlers.   He might be one of them.  I feel sort of bad that he got embarrassed (if in fact this did embarrass him).

The man should still know who Nelson Mandela is.

That first period was as amazing as any in recent history. That was a 2002/2008 period.
