#2529500 TANK IT! 2014-2015 Season

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 02 July 2014 - 01:53 PM

A lot of people that think the wings will fight to get in to the playoffs seem to forget that other than Boston, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and somewhat Florida the rest of the teams in the east were fighting for 6 playoff spots when the Olympics were over. Add in the fact that the wing were 2/3 of the Griffins during that time and they lost, if I remember correctly, 8-12 shoot outs. If they win those shoot outs all of a sudden the wings are playing Tampa bay in the first round and there is no talk of the wings getting bounced in the first round, second round probly but there are 22 teams that would have loved to made it that far, including Detroit.

#2525004 Todd Bertuzzi will not be re-signed

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 21 June 2014 - 08:09 AM

And thus ends my long time dream of cheering wildly as Todd Bertuzzi is handed the Stanley Cup first after it is presented to Zetterberg (and cheering all the more wildly knowing that the rest of the hockey world is HATING what they're seeing).

Let's do that in the Pepsi center.

Now how are we gonna win shootouts? Hopefully one of the kids, idk maybe Jurco (I know, shot in the dark), could be tried in a SO... Wait, who am I kidding? that won't work.

Not a bad idea! Let's turn out the lights and give the refs night vision goggles and let the players shoot in the dark. If you hear a whistle it's no good, but if the goal light comes on its in.

#2522401 97-98 Red Wings still the last team to win back-to-back!

I'm so happy that it wasn't Chicago to break the streak. Every year that passes shows just how tough it is to do that.

#2444907 Any new Helm Updates?

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 15 October 2013 - 10:57 PM

That's a little bit of an overstatement.  That is simply the first game he would be eligible for if he returns from LTIR on time.  No confirmation at all at this point that he will be back for that game.

If all goes according to plan, general manager Ken Holland said Helm will make his season debut for the Red Wings on Oct. 26 against the New York Rangers at Joe Louis Arena.

#2429824 Blues hire Conklin as development coach

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 12 July 2013 - 07:13 PM

He seemed like he was always just on the brink of success before it fell apart, went to the finals 3 times with 3 different teams and lost them all. Had a chance to get a lot of starts with the Wings and couldn't put a string of wins together. At least he is still around the game.

#2429396 Waive The Waiting Period

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 10 July 2013 - 11:06 PM

I think he should wait the normal 3 years. Not because he doesn't deserve to have it waived for him but because after three years of not being in the league everyone will have plenty of time to realize just how dominate and insanely great he actually was. So in 2015 we will not only have another reason to re-live his career but by then he might be able to get the recognition that I feel he never got when he played.....still have no idea how he was never at least nominated for the Hart.

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 09 July 2013 - 08:25 PM

Detroits record vs East last 6 years:

07-08= 7-2-1

08-09= 12-5-1

09-10= 9-6-3

10-11= 12-4-2

11-12= 10-7-1

12-13= N/A

Total Record= 50-24-8

That just happens to be 82 games, and in the cap world 50 wins over a full season usually gets you a division title.

#2414165 WCSF Game 7 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 2 OT (CHI wins series, 4-3)

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 28 May 2013 - 10:16 PM

3 keys to winning game 7:

1.Our best players HAVE to be our best players.
2.Limit the turnovers and mistakes.
3.Play 60 minutes.

#2412239 WCSF Game 6 GDT- Blackhawks 4 @ Red Wings 3, - (Series tied 3-3)

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 27 May 2013 - 12:32 AM

Z stepped up to get the wings in the playoffs, then he stepped up to eliminate the Ducks, I have a feeling he will have a great game 6 and eliminate the Hawks.

#2412042 WCSF Game 5 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4, (DET leads series 3-2)

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 25 May 2013 - 10:16 PM

Please excuse the fact that this is the GDT from Game 1. Inexplicedly, my file for today was lost. Wouldn't you know it?

It might as well of been game one. Just make sure you never use a GDT graphic from a loss again. In not blaming you or saying you jinxed us or anything like that, the wings were due for a sloppy game. But it just sets a weird mood on the board.

#2409958 WCSF Game 4 GDT- Blackhawks 0 @ Red Wings 2 - (DET leads series 3-1)

Why couldn't doc give whatever he's got to Eddie as well

Edit: I'm sure ken Daniels would of been happy to call this game. But I'm sure NBC didnt think to ask

#2401991 WCQF Game 6 GDT : Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4 (OT) - (Series Tied 3-3)

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 10 May 2013 - 10:59 PM

the Ducks have got to be getting frustrated by now, they are supposed to be the better team and have controlled play for long stretches, and yet they find themselves pushed to the brink in the 1st round by a #7 seed, losing 3 of 4 OT games in the process

Let's go Wings

You just summed up the better part of the last decade for the wings

#2398962 Watching Ericsson mature

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 07 May 2013 - 06:17 PM

My question is, would Ericsson and kindl have progressed like they have if Lidstrom didn't retire. The extra responsibilities may have been exactly what they needed to take the next step.

#2391495 WCQF: (7) Red Wings vs. (2) Ducks

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 28 April 2013 - 06:30 PM

This could somewhat of a farewell tour for the wings since they are moving east. Start by playing Anaheim who have played a 3 classic/interesting series against each other in the last 10 years. Move on to play one last series(as conference rivals) against Chicago. And finish up against recent rivals San Jose before showing the east what they will have to deal with.

#2391332 WCQF: (7) Red Wings vs. (2) Ducks

Posted by Wings4Life19 on 28 April 2013 - 02:08 AM

10 years ago the #2 seeded Red Wings were swept by the #7 seeded Might Ducks. Revenge is a dish best surved cold.

The wings are hot, winning 4 in row in dominating fashion and getting points in 5 of last 6. The Ducks have questionable goaltending and Detroit has played very well against Anaheim this year. And historically #2 seeds have been uset in the first round more than 1, 2, or 4. I smell an upset and it smells a lot like cooked duck.
