#2397121 Ottawa - Montreal 5 on 5 fight

I am cool with all of this - but I HATE the hand waving after fights.  That'sf****** lame.  Act like its not the first fight you won. These guys watch too much UFC, its not a show, they should act like they are just taking care of business.

#2397000 Abdelkader suspended 2 games for hit on Lydman

Just put Bert on the top line.  Who cares, Abdelkader wont make or break the Wings in this series.

#2393133 WCQF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings 1, at Ducks 3. (Anaheim leads, 1-0)

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 01 May 2013 - 12:19 AM

Not a horrendous game, but the Ducks played better and deserved the win in the end.  Liked the Nyquist line as the game progressed.  Datsyuk wasn't as dominant as usual but I liked Zetterberg and Franzen's game. Ducks really forechecked our D hard and it was tough to get out of the zone.  Hopefully the Wings will have a little more intensity for game 2.

Winnable series for sure.

#2390385 Babcock rumours?

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 26 April 2013 - 09:10 PM

This is such s*** - Babcock will finish his contract with the Wings before anything happens.  I love Dreger, but f*** him for breaking this the night before our biggest game of the season.  This is someones "oh this would be nice" fantasy.

#2387398 4/20 GDT: Red Wings 1 @ Canucks 2 (SO)

Interesting game last night.  Couple of things I noticed;

-Filppula was god awful - I usually have a lot of faith in him but he was actually getting in the way of his line mates last night.  Might have been the worst game I've ever seen him play. For the first time, I think the Wings might be better off letting him walk next year in favour of keeping one of these kids in the lineup.

-DeKeyser continues to impress me. No doubt in my mind he will be our top shutdown defenseman in the near future.

-Nyquist, Andersson and Emmerton all played really well.  Looks like Emmerton is finally making strides toward being a useful everyday player

-I love our defense WITHOUT White and Colaiacovo

Additionally, the CBC broadcasters really put this season into perspective.  I've been pissing and moaning about the Wings' "fall from grace" all season but in reality, its amazing what they've been able to accomplish given their lineup and the tight Western Conference.  After last night's game, I am actually kind of excited to see these younger guys progress over the next couple of seasons.

I also still think the Wings will make the playoffs.

#2382916 Official: Howard signs 6-year, $31.8m contract extension

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 11 April 2013 - 10:46 AM

Don't mind the money. Like others, its the term that worries me.

What about Petr Mrazek? Is it going to be 6 years before he is ready?  I was hoping to see him as the Wings starter in 3-4 years...

Hawks will lose to the Oil tonight.

I've been avoiding the whole Dekeyser thing. For one thing, if he is of the same calibre as Justin Shultz, he'll probably sign with a team that will be eager to give him a big role right off the bat. The Red Wings won't want to do that.

The Wings have a really good shot at landing Dekeyser.  From MI, played with Jim Nill's son, and grew up a Wings fan  As long as the Wings don't lowball him horribly, they lead the pack for this kid.

We shall see!

Kronwall, Bertuzzi, and Nyquist for Perry.

White, Colo, Franzen, and Mursak for Yandle.

Howard, Samuelsson, and Brunner for Schneider.

Drop Cleary, Abdelkader, and Huskins.

Miller-Andersson-Eaves
Ferraro-Emmerton-Tootoo
Callahan-Jarnkrok

Yandle-Ericsson
Smith-Quincey
Kindl-Lashoff

Is this a joke?

#2348543 coach disagrees with refs - hilarious

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 29 January 2013 - 07:34 PM

What a complete ignoramus.  Hope he gets fined huge.  His team must be embarrassed.

By the way, why the hell was he wearing a tux?

#2347405 Nail Yakupov Goal Celebration.

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 27 January 2013 - 01:39 PM

Here I thought it was key goals, hits, and saves that made the game exciting, not the obnoxious celebrations afterward.  Maybe that's why the world goes so nuts for European soccer, lots of showmanship over there.

Datsyuk's been lighting the lap here in Detroit since 2002, with no dancing afterward.  Has it seemed boring to you?

Your response didn't address or refute anything i said in my post.  Tying the game with 5 seconds left is not considered a key goal? And no, Datsyuk as an individual doesn't bore me, I said if everyone in the league acted like that, it would be boring. The NHL needs guys like Ovechkin, Selanne, and Yak.  Variety is good, and people are getting poopy about this for no legit. reason.

As for Don Cherry's response to the goal.  Its Don Cherry for gods sake.

Here is Theo Fleury's tweet after he heard what Grapes said.

I do remember Don shaking my hand
after scoring that goal in Edm and him congratulating me. Did an
interview with Ron right after the goal.

#2347370 Nail Yakupov Goal Celebration.

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 27 January 2013 - 11:58 AM

Loved it.  The 18 yo kid is playing in a market that is starved for excitement, he scored a big goal vs. the Stanley Cup champs after the refs f*cked them all game.  Nothing wrong with it at all.  The fans went NUTS when they saw it.

It was raw emotion, it wasn't a preconceived dolphin dive or a toss of the glove in the air while shooting it ala Selanne.  If everyone acted like Datsyuk (he is 35 btw) after scoring a goal, this would be the most boring league in the world. Silly comparison.

#2316736 Sign Jurcina or Vandermeer and call it a day

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 07 July 2012 - 12:05 PM

I wouldn't mind a trade for Bouwmeester.  His value has depreciated in Calgary, but I still think he can be effective, especially in the Wings system.  He plays a similar style to Lidstrom (though not nearly as good), but I've also seen a bit of a mean streak in him.

Those line combo's posted earlier make it apparent to me that if the Wings sign another foward, there are enough assets up front to use in a deal.
The tough thing is that Calgary traded Phaneuf to the Leafs because they were set on JBouw being their guy.  He hasn't really panned out, but the Flames would have to have balls to trade him at this point.  With the emergence of Giordano though, they may bite at the right offer.

#2306981 Is the Stanley Cup really the hardest trophy in all of pro sport?

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 12 June 2012 - 04:40 PM

I think its FOR SURE the most grueling and toughest physically trophy to win, but then again a trophy like the World Cup that is only available every 4 years is pretty difficult to win too - especially considering the parity of the top 5-10 soccer nations, and the amount of games you need to play to even qualify.
