#2280257 For once I agree with Don Cherry

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 08 April 2012 - 12:42 PM

Crosby can't even dominate Zetterberg for one series let alone the entire league. Stamkos just hit 60 goals, does this mean he's "dominating the league"?

Sorry, did you want to have a discussion on semantics?

I know we are all upset cause Datsyuk doesn't get as much attention and him, but its just something you have to live with. 37 points in 22 games despite missing most of the last 2 seasons with a concussion is as dominant as you can get in the NHL if you ask me, and I think many would agree.

60 goals in a season is pretty dominant too - I don't reserve the term for just one player.

But Crosby is your villain, I get that. It must be tiresome investing all that emotion in a guy you hate though.

Yea great points by Cherry. If the Wings don't make it to the finals, I'd like to see Pittsburgh and Vancouver play in the finals. Canada will see that their precious Crosby isn't a saint. Canadians will understand what Americans, and fans of American teams, are saying about him.

Haha WTF? You think because he doesnt play Canadian teams that often we don't hear about him or see him play? Trust me, the Pens don't need to be playing the Canucks for Sid to get exposure here in Canada. I hear what Americans, and fans of American teams are saying about him all the time and you all sound like babies bitching and complaining about a guy who dominates the league. Everybody on both sides of this argument needs to get over this. Yes, he ******* and complains to the refs - but the majority of hockey players do. We are spoiled in Detroit because we have a mature, experienced team, so we get really poopy when we see anyone whining. Crosby's antics are just amplified because everybody, even you haters LOVE to hear about him.

The fact that you guys are all agreeing with some of the biggest bone heads in hockey should tell you something. All Milbury has ever done is ruin the New York Islanders, hit some fan with his shoe, and push around some kid at a minor hockey game. Cherry? The guy is absolutely insane. And Torts? Talk about a guy who needs to STFU and just coach. Take some hints from Babcock on how to be a professional. Talk about a whiner.

And for the record, if the Pens and Nucks play in the final, everyone outside BC will be cheering for Pittsburgh. Vancouver is one of the most hated teams in Canada.

I remember seeing an interview with Kevin Lowe regarding this play many years after the fact - it might have even been for Yzerman's retirement. Anyways, Lowe said that after this game, Yzerman sought out Lowe outside the dressing rooms and apologized, saying that it was a cocky play and claiming he shouldn't have done it. Shows what a complete class act Steve Yzerman is.

#2274768 Quincey vs. Stuart

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 28 March 2012 - 09:18 AM

I'm gonna miss Stuart if he goes west. He has been really consistent since he came here in 2007-08, and he adds a nice amount of grit to the D. He's gonna get a nice payday out in California and he deserves it. Hopefully he signs with the Kings.

Who said anything about giving up on the cup?!?!? I never said to give up on the cup... I just said lose 4 games and get an easier path.

There is no easy path in the West.

#2273912 So who could the Red Wings get in the offseason?

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 25 March 2012 - 03:50 PM

I heard on the HNIC hot stove the other week that for whatever reason, the Hurricanes are poised to make a big push for both Suter and Parise. Apparently they are good friends, and may consider signing with the same team if the prices are right. If Lids retires after this season (I think he will), Holland should really go after these guys.

My dream;
My Custom Lineup
Zach Parise ($6.700m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m)

#2273255 Which team would piss you off the most if they won the cup?

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 23 March 2012 - 10:43 PM

Vancouver. I hate the Canucks more than any other team in the NHL. They make Wings' rivals look like heroes to me. I even cheer for the Hawks when they play each other. Besides, is there anything greater for Wings fans than seeing those two teams destroy each other?

Seriously though, I used to live in Edmonton, close enough to Vancouver to have some of those knuckle-dragging idiots at Rexall for games. They are the worst fans in hockey. Imagine Leafs fans, but dumber. They have never won a god damned thing in their 40 years of existence, yet they parade around like their s*** doesn't stink. The riot this past summer exemplifies what their fan base is like. Pathetic.

#2271514 Do the Pens Have the Cup Locked Up?

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 19 March 2012 - 10:50 AM

I think the blues are still the clear favorites at this point.

Lol no way. The Blues are primed to lose in the first round. They don't have enough playoff experience on that team IMO.

#2259927 Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 21 February 2012 - 05:27 PM

I actually like this move. Quincey knows the Wings' system, he is young, and he has some offense in him. I like him on the blueline over Commodore. I remember being impressed with him when he stepped into the lineup during the 07 playoffs. The Wings would have traded that 1st round pick at the draft for 2 3rd rounders anyways. Hahah.

Yzerman also looks like a genius basically trading Downie for a 1st rounder. Not bad.

#2259791 Best Deadline Deal for the Red Wings: 2000-2009

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 21 February 2012 - 03:45 PM

Stuart for sure because we got the results we wanted with him. But, the Schneider deal was great IMO. Even though we never won a cup with him, he played really well for us. If it wasn't for the broken wrist against the Ducks in 07, the Wings would have won the Cup IMO.

#2250459 How Would You Fix the All Star Game?

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 28 January 2012 - 01:36 PM

Just have the guys throw their sticks in the middle like shinny.

I also like the earlier mentioned suggestion of having two lucky fans draft the teams and make up the lines.

#2248766 1/23 GDT : Blues 1 at Red Wings 3

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 23 January 2012 - 10:19 PM

Lot of bitching about a lack of response to the Howard scuffle at the end there. Overall I think this game was a perfect example of why the Wings DON'T need another tough guy. They matched the Blues toughness PERFECTLY - the only difference was the Blues took stupid penalties and the Wings didn't. The final scuffle was fine by me. I don't mind seeing Howard stand up for himself - everyone else was tied up anyways.

Anyways, it was a really fun game to watch. I was impressed with the effort tonight.

#2174594 Changes in the offseason

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 12 May 2011 - 11:49 PM

Get rid of Filppula? No way - that guy was the reason the Wings won game 6. Granted, i'd like to see his point totals closer to 50 per season, but what he does defensively and on the PP makes him worth 3.5 mil, especially in this league.

I don't know what to do about Salei. I wasn't impressed during the regular season, but I REALLY liked his game during the playoffs. Solid solid player, and he ate up a lot of valuable ice time. Then again, it might be time to let Kindl or even Brenden Smith step up.

I've always liked Ericsson but I don't know if its worth bringing him back for more than 1.5 mil. I'd hate to see him go to another team. I bet the Wings keep him.

What do you guys think about a guy like James Wisniewski? He makes the D a lot meaner, and he is only 27. Not sure what kind of money he would command, but he has decent numbers, a mean streak, and he's young (by Red Wing standards).

Anyways, it should be an interesting offseason. Looks like that was it for guys like Draper, Holmstrom, Modano, and Osgood.

#2099326 Crosby on strike

And people bitching about the attention detracts even more. It's a front page story that puts a player we loathe in a negative light. But yes, we should all just ignore it.

This, coming from the King. Everyone who posts a story about Crosby KNOWS it will be turn into a gang bang thread.
