#2557615 Jimmy sucks in a shootout Howard

Pull the goalie in ot. Have a little powerplay. Couldn't be worse than what's going on.

I read somewhere,If you are scored on in ot with the goalie pulled you forfeit the single point for the tie.

84.2 Overtime – Regular-season – Extra Attacker - A team shall be allowed to pull its goalkeeper in favor of an additional skater in the overtime period. However, should that team lose the game during the time in which the goalkeeper has been removed, it would forfeit the automatic point gained in the tie at the end of regulation play, except if the goalkeeper has been removed at the call of a delayed penalty against the other team. Should the goalkeeper proceed to his bench for an extra attacker due to a delayed penalty call against the opposing team, and should the non-offending team shoot the puck directly into their own goal, the game shall be over and the team that was to be penalized declared the winner.

Once the goalkeeper has been removed for an extra attacker in overtime during the regular-season, he must wait for the next stoppage of play before returning to his position. He cannot change “on the fly.” If he does, a bench minor penalty shall be assessed for having an ineligible player.

Looks like Kindl and Lashoff out. They need to put Weiss on IR to keep Ouellet.

I like that defensive line up....

Great post finally someone is sharing my views on toughness. A few years ago guys like Dmac, Downie or even Shanahan would have wiped the floor with enemies but now the team is a bunch of small fairies that's too easy to intimidate and that's against a Leafs team that didn't even ice Orr and McClaren. Disgusting for a team that once had the heavyweight belt. And people are still wondering why the season ticket list turned from a waiting list to running commercials... The mixture just isn't there. Former Wings were exciting to watch because they were built in skill, grit and an overall hardworking hockey club who could beat the other team in many ways and stood up for each other. The Lemieux incident nowadays would result in a crying for Quinta instead of taking justice in the own hand and let someone go Berserk soon sad

So your blaming poor ticket sales on the fact we don't fight anymore.... Would have nothing to do with the economy.

I would love for you to explain to Bob Probert's wife and 4 kids as well as countless other familys that lost someone way too soon because it will sell more tickets. Ignoring the long term effects of head trauma due to toughness is ignorance.

Mom and I were in Toronto visiting relatives. I was 12. We had no tickets to the Leafs game but someone knew someone that worked at Maple Leaf Gardens. They brought us in the back door used to access the zamboni bay and took us through a bunch of tunnels and stairwells to find and usher, who then proceeded to find us season ticket seats that they knew were going unclaimed for the evening.

It was a crappy game (vs Rangers) with no star power and I've always hated the Leafs. But man, that place was awesome.

Funny you mention that, when I was at the old maple leaf gardens early 90's the guy working the souvenir stand gave me and my friend the previous year's Toronto Maple Leaf year book. My Friends dad saw some players leaving down a roped off hall way. He told us to ignore rope and get an autograph. The usher went to stop us then said "OK get one and come right back". I got Gary Leeman's autograph. Something we will not see in today's world.

I know I am probably a little biased but I love the Joe. The low ceilings, its not flashy but loud. The fans are the most critical of there own team but the most knowledgeable. As well as decent price. I know opinions can change from location of the tickets to the year of the team. This was my take.

Other rinks I have attended:

Maple Leaf Gardens (Toronto)- I was 10 years old I don't remember much. But the wings won and Yzerman was involved in a line fight.

ACC (Toronto)- Food was good but way over priced, the fans.... It was a sell-out and the place was packed, but I don't know where the fans were. only time I saw excitement was when Kessel touched the puck. One thing I noticed about games in Toronto as soon as they have the puck in the offensive zone the crowd yells "SHOOT!"

Corel /Canadian Tire Centre (Ottawa) - 70% were disappointed wing fans. We got destroyed that night. nice clean area.

Civic center (Pittsburgh) - The old Igloo before Crosby and after Lemieux. Half empty dumbest fans I have ever met. Most had no clue what was going on. It was just sad.

American Airlines Center (Dallas) - Multiple games during a 3 month work stint. Good crowd, surprisingly knew the game well. Food and tickets were good and cheap. 11 dollars for any upper bowl seat. Tons of promos and fan interaction. probably my 2nd favorite besides the Joe.

HSBC/ First Niagara Center (Buffalo) - much like Dallas just more expensive but far from Toronto. And I have seen the Wings, Ottawa and Boston play, and it is hard to find a Buffalo fan.

Arenas on my bucket list:

Bell Centre (Montreal)

United Center (Chicago)

TD Garden (Boston)

MSG (New York)

Sorry but who says you cant score on the 4th line? I remember the grind line being rather successful at scoring and shutting down. In 98 drapes, McCarty and Maltby all put up 13+ goals. I know that was a different time with a different coach that was famous for having players buy in to a particular role. IMO I see Jurco being that role player and not a leader. I have not seen enough out of him to give him a top role this year or last.

Giving Miller and Glendening a trigger might be for the best. For some reason they create a ton of scoring opportunities but can never finish.

How's his playoffs been these last few years? Scoring when it matters is more clutch than scoring the second goal in a 4-1 win against a team like buffalo or Calgary or Carolina etc etx.

Your talking about the same Franzen that is tied for the franchise lead in Playoff GWG and OT Goals in Detroit Red Wings History? Same guy that single handed beat the Avs.

I admit he has not had great playoffs the last couple years, But what Red Wing has?

Lol Sorry I had too.

I couldn't agree with krsmith17 more. Mule is what he is. He is streaky as they come but well worth the contract. I politely disagree with clutch comment. He is 3rd behind Z and Dats for GWG by an active Red Wing. Z is leading with 57, 15 more that Franzen, but Z has played exactly 100 more games. IMO that stat is all about being clutch.

As for Q, the last 2 years he started horrible slow and finished as strong as any of our guys on defense, I am glad to see he bucked this trend. Hopefully this won't get a start strong end slow.

Ouch...Hitting that rounded glass at the end of the bench is like hitting a brick wall - no give.

Could be worse, remember what happens with out the rounded glass.

good Interview with Dats

Dats: "I got hit in to the galsses.

Helene St.James: "How do you feel?"

Dats: "Better ask how glasses feel"

HSJ: "how do you think Darren Helm looks today?"

Dats: "He is ready for Halloween"

Least he is in good spirits.
