#2392108 Kronwall and Rig on the wing?

Posted by OldMan333 on 30 April 2013 - 12:39 PM

Put Kronner with Toots and Abby, then they can just hit/destroy anyone that dares to get anywhere near the puck. By the end of the first period, the other team will be running out of healthy bodies to put on the ice.

#2373636 Iginla may/may not have added Detroit to his trade list

Posted by OldMan333 on 25 March 2013 - 10:43 AM

I would rather pay Iginla 5+ for a couple years then pay Fil the same amount. Fil, Nyquist and a couple conditional picks depending if he re ups. We need a goal scorer Fil can be replaced from within. (Tatar)

I'm a big Flip fan, but if we had good reason to believe Iginla would re-sign with the Wings for 2+ yrs, I think this is a good trade.

#2354286 Do We Really Need a New Stadium?

I get to maybe 3 or 4 games a year at the Joe. Rule #1 - NEVER park in the JLA lot (or Cobo roof for that matter). Rule #2 - Don't go in the main entrance attached to the JLA lot. Before they roped it all off for the remodel I would park around the old Cobo Arena garage or on Yzerman Drive. Now I park in the surface lot behind Cobo Joes bar - easy access and quick exit from any of these locations. you could also go over to greek town area and take one of the many party shuttles the bars send back and forth - that's always a party. No matter where you park, walk through or around Cobo to get to the river, then enter JLA from the river side - not only do you get a cool view of the river, the bridge and the birth-country of hockey, but you walk right into JLA -- virtually no line.

I love the current location. Walking the river front before and after the game is as much a part of the experience as the game itself. Won't be the same going to see the Wings in some new venue surrounded by parking lots.

#1976872 Why The Wings can win this series

If the team that played Game 7 against Phoenix showed up, we would win the series no problem.
They gotta wanna - for 3600 seconds - every player - no exceptions!
pffft - these guys are highly paid professionals - piece o-cake - we got this in the bag.

I may be in the minority, but I really like the current location at the Joe - downtown, on the river. I always enter/exit at the river entrance and park on the far side of Cobo - adds to the whole event atmosphere. Far better than having a stadium in the middle of a many-acres parking lot or jammed onto some generic city block somewhere.

I say rehab the Joe or replace with a new arena very near by.

#1976810 Why is Howard still in the net?

Posted by OldMan333 on 05 May 2010 - 04:19 PM

Howard gives up a few too many rebounds and gets too far from the crease too often for my taste but he has certainly performed above and beyond expectations this season and has had a fine playoff run for a rookie. Anyone who has watched most of the games or read any small portion of the endless posts and threads on LGW would know that.
