WCQF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Coyotes 1

I just got done telling my dad, if Howard can keep this even, the Wings will find some magic. That wasn't exactly magic, but it was a goal!!!!!!

Doc Emrick's call of Kesler's game ender

I don't know. To me it sounded like he kind of lost control (in a good way) when Kesler unexpectedly scored. You could hear that buried hope that USA would win sneak out of him. That's why I like the clip so much. I'm kind of comparing it to the way he called Samuelsson's OT winner against Chicago last year in the WCF. He's excited when he calls it, but even with the follow-up of, "Samuelsson ends it, 3-2" you can tell he's just a hockey announcer. In this clip I think he's a fan of the USA who was intense, but didn't anticipate the USA closing it out right there at that moment.
  6. From the guy who brought you, "Sounds of the Joe" or whatever I called it last year, here is Doc Emrick calling the game-ending empty net goal by Kesler. It gets me a little teary-eyed each time. I almost puked trying to record it, seeing as how I kept forgetting components upstairs and had to repeatedly sprint up and down them. I had to shorten it a bit to keep it under the 500kb. If this is at all popular and anyone wants to host the slightly bigger version where that "Ole Ole" song is sung, let me know and I can upload it via FTP. It's under 700kb. If it's not popular, then I wasted a lot of life on keyboard just now. Enjoy. kesler_empty_net_2_.mp3

    Sean Avery's feelings toward Boudreau.

He's an embarrassment to anything that could be described as being professional. There are jobs for agitators, but he goes too far beyond that to be respected by me. Personally, there's not a train in this country that I wouldn't mind seeing his face splattered on. How's that for agitating?

10/31 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Flames 1

This is a preview of the day-after-Thanksgiving game I'll be at (with the exception of specific injuries). Hopefully this preview gives me hope. We could really use 2 points as well.

Hossa: "Its great to be in a hockey town."

Just for those of you who are saying that Chicago is a crazy hockey town or that they looove their Hawks; that wasn't the case until this year. Their games were hardly attended until about December of last year when people had finally begun watching the games on TV after their owner, (I'm too lazy to google his name) who did not allow games to be televised, died. After the new year I saw decals on cars and more hats and jerseys showing up around here. In my opinion as someone from Chicago, these fans need to prove that they're not fair weather fans before Chicago can be called any type of hockey town. The team has been abandoned by its fans since the mid-90's.

    Theme song for next season

Saliva is the new Creed, but without guitar skills. Childish rhymes, weak guitars that have enough studio-work to sound like they have grit, horrible vocals. It's like Disturbed's younger brother who is supposed to be a computer tech instead of a band. I'll never support anything they do.
  11. I don't know if anyone else in this thread was at the game last night, but I have this to say. Maybe you didn't see the senseless no-look passes that ended up on Pittsburgh's sticks. Maybe you didn't see Detroit letting pucks bounce over their sticks endlessly. Maybe you didn't see the countless battles for the puck that Pittsburgh won. Maybe you didn't see Pittsburgh's shot-block total that would've given us over 20 more shots on net, and a good chance for a goal. You might not have thrown your hands in the air when Hossa carried the puck for way too long and lost it, or when one-timers that probably would've been goals were held onto instead for another Pittsburgh blocked shot. You sure as hell didn't see the turnovers that gave Pittsburgh a pre-game warmup on Osgood. The ONLY 2 goals that Pittsburgh scored last night were goals that every kid and professional alike dream of scoring to win the Stanley Cup. They were freebies. They were GIFTS FROM THE RED WINGS. The mistakes that were made last night that cost the Wings the game were the Wings fault. As hardcore of a fan that I am, there were maybe one or two times where I got upset at the refs last night. But in my seat, at the Joe last night, more times than one or two I said, "These guys look terrible", talking about our Red Wings. Buy the DVD series that has all 7 games. Count EVERY ONE of Detroit's mistakes that somehow in some way could've led to a Detroit goal . Then count EVERY penalty against the Pens that wasn't called. We still lose.

Red Wings / Penguins SCF Series Summary

No. They. Won't. If you think the Wings are gonna give Malkin and Crosby space to do anything other than go to the bench when their shift is up, you're wrong. They aren't secrets that Pittsburgh has kept in the locker room until Game 7. The Wings know who the threats are, and they're not going to let them do anything. While Crosby and Malkin are trying to tackle the task of tying up Zetterberg and Datsyuk, our 4th line will probably once again kill you. Also, what is "crutcial?" A mix between "critical" and "crucial?"

    who's going to the game?

Section 221, Row 12. What part of Chicago/Burbs are you in? I'm south burbs. If you haven't been to the Joe, there's not a whole lot around it, besides Canada.
