#2535060 Datsyuk or Fedorov?

Posted by number9 on 27 August 2014 - 07:41 PM

I saw both play, and regardless of the stats, I can always expect to be wowed by something Pavel will do on the ice. Be it a deke, a pass, a hit avoided, a steal, something. Not so much for Fedorov. He might score 4 points, but they will be somewhat boring, just a guy who is stronger, shoots harder, and skates faster overcoming the inferior competition. Kind of like watching a adult play with kids, almost. :)

Yzerman, Fedorov, and Zetterberg all did/do everything perfectly, text book. Datsyuk writes his own book.

I think something that really works in Pav's favor regarding the HOF is the idea that most people have regarded him as at least a top-5 player in the league for the better half of a decade now. For 2-3 years, a lot of people considered him the best player in the game.

I think that reputation will give him a big push.

Fedorov.

Feds carried this team in a bump and grind decade where Dats would have been shut down.

Other teams players have said the most surprising thing about Datsyuk is how strong he is, cause he doesn't look it, and how difficult that makes him to push off the puck

This isn't a knock on Pavs, but the Hockey Hall of Fame is the easiest HOF to get into, Dats will get in. He'll retire with 2 Cups (at least) and over 300 career goals.

I'll take Fedorov over Datsyuk. Feds won the Hart, 3 Cups, and had 30 or more goals in a season 10 times. Fedorov career's better then Datsyuk, Datsyuk is in, so no question Fedorov.

Dats also has 532 assists already. He could easily be over 600-650 when he retires and is just shy of Beijing a ppg player his entire career (804 points in 824 games) that's good enough for me, without even taking into consideration his two way play. That just puts him over the top.

Fedorov. HOF for Feds, yes. Datsyuk, if he returns to 90+ points per year yes. He needs a couple MVP type years to lock him in.

I think the better comparison is Datsyuk and Larionov since both are pass first type guys although Dats Dekes are top tier of all time.

I get what you're saying, but why should Pavel need another 1 or 2 90+ point seasons? Why can't a guy who is arguably and has arguably been the best two way forward in the league for most of the last decade need massive point totals? (Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if Datsyuk returned to his 90 points pace)

I'll be the minority here and say Datsyuk. I won't deny that Feds was super skilled, but he also had a pretty tremendous team around him. Datsyuk would have better numbers if he was playing with the team that Fedorov was playing for back then. Again, no discredit to skill level, sometimes the quality of players around you make you play better.

Fedorov, there is no reason why he shouldn't make the HOF.

Datsyuk, I feel like he absolutely should, I feel pretty confident that he will, but I understand if he doesn't.

Finally, a good roster move decision!

Cleary next and we'll be getting somewhere.

if i could switch lives with any one person. Pavel Datsyuk.

I'd rather be his closest friend so I could always watch him play and listen to his hysterics all the time

Yawningly anti-climatic, and I can't say I'm heartbroken.  I've had a good hate on for Pronger pretty much his entire career. Glad he's not really hurt or anything, but I'm just as glad he's not playing anymore.

Can't say I'm really upset for Philly, either.  Does that make me a bad person?
