#2331585 Russians Possibly Staying In KHL After Lockout

I think Z, and the rest of the players, are just and frustrated with the situation.  They'll be back.

#2283285 Darren Helm out for playoffs with lacerated wrist

Posted by ACallToArms on 12 April 2012 - 08:18 AM

Seriously, after having this happen to two of our guys, can the Wings brass make some sort of arm protection mandatory?  The longer gloves, anything.  Like Mickey keeps saying, I don't think the extra mobility you get from the shorter gloves is worth risking potentially season ending injuries over.

I doubt Helm will be back for the playoffs.  Hope he has a quick recovery and can bounce back from this.

#2277099 Quincey suspended 1 game

Looks like Quincey was trying to Kronwall Kopecky, and failed.  Needs some extra training from the master on how to get those brutal hits off in a clean fashion.

#2248966 Props to the DJ at the Joe

Posted by ACallToArms on 24 January 2012 - 12:12 PM

I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing "Don't Stop Believin'" at the Joe.  I've always associated the song with the Wings, everyone else is just ripping us off.  Also, who cares about the whole "South Detroit" thing?  He put it in because it sounds good in the song.  Detroit has a south... it's the riverwalk, Ren Cen, etc... just deal with it and enjoy :)

The Shanahan Jig will forever be one of my favorite player-specific tunes.

#2246770 Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium Finalized

Posted by ACallToArms on 18 January 2012 - 08:47 AM

Although I'm kind of disappointed that the game won't be hosted in Detroit, I'm excited that we get a Winter Classic.  I will be going, money is no object!!! :)

Is it bad that I'm actually more excited to watch this game than the Lions + Saints today???

Ok... maybe equally as excited.

GO WINGS

GO LIONS

#2236477 Best Red Wings Books

Posted by ACallToArms on 16 December 2011 - 10:48 AM

Not a book, but I own this DVD and I think its a must have for a Red Wings fan.  It has documentaries covering the 97,98, and 02 cup championships.  It also has five complete games, ones that fans voted on as being the 5 greatest Red Wings games.  I watch this during the summer to get my hockey fix while waiting for October :)

#2232927 Lightning Replica Jerseys with RFID Chips

Posted by ACallToArms on 05 December 2011 - 11:30 AM

After reading that article this is just like the frequency cards you get at the grocery store and other stores too.  They're offering discounts for wearing them to home games which is smart to get more of the home colors present during games.  This really isn't more than what everyone else has already mentioned.

I agree, it really is just like the discount cards.  Instead of scanning the cards, your chip is automagically read, which speeds up the whole process.  While RFID chips can be used for evil, most of the time they have legitimate uses.  The conspiracy theorists have just given them a bad name overall.

#2230818 Bylsma Defends Crosby's Elbow on Foligno

Posted by ACallToArms on 29 November 2011 - 11:38 AM

For starters, that isn't a suspendable hit.  It's a scrum in front of the net where one player is taking extra liberties.

Second, Crosby at least had some reason to give cheap shots to Foligno.  And they weren't even super cheap shots at that.

Third, Crosby is a cheap little *****.  As soon as things get heated Kunitz is in to save the day.  If you want Crosby to play sheriff, then let him fight his own battles.

Everything before the hit to the face was a scrum in front of the net.  The head shot is exactly what the NHL said they're trying to "enforce," mostly because of what happened to their golden child.  All I know is that if the situation was reversed, Foligno would have some mandatory time off.

#2220562 Avery

Posted by ACallToArms on 31 October 2011 - 01:46 PM

I liked him when he was here. He's a **** now, but when he was here he was more of a grinder/agitator than a goon.

That's because the Wings organization wouldn't have stood for him being a ****.  The management and culture of a team does a lot to shape a player.

Wings need to RAAAGGGEEE tonight.  Simply can't drop another one, and I don't think they will.
