I hope you’re right. I hope he does also. Obviously. I can see both sides of it, but I agree Cat is a bigger part of his life than we realize. I was listening to the newest winged wheel podcast and they were saying the same thing, how it’s a thing to see Kane & DeBricats young children together and how POTENTIALLY, potentially this translates into this is Patrick Kanes home now and he will hopefully stay for many of these reasons. Again that’s all wishful thinking at the end of the day. People keep saying how Kane may not stay because we still won’t be in a cup window. But at 4 years I think we will certainly be trying. We must make the playoffs next year. We have to, look at what this team has done. To start this season the entire world was betting against them. Even at the end of last season Buffalo and Ottawa were the favourites to be the new comers knocking on the door. Then after free agency in the summer The Yzerplan was lambasted by many for the first time. This season starts and we’re the underdogs from the get go but came in hot, even became so exciting to watch they quickly were people’s favourite team to tune into because they kept having these crazy comebacks. Then we sign Kane and everyone was pretty reserved with how he’d play. I thought he’d be hurt in no time, but the dude played. He’s so dynamic and confident with the puck, one of those rare elite players that visibly commands respect when the pucks on his stick. Even at 35 years old. That moment of his in Chicago was so electric….This year going in this team I would think should be favourites to get in. I can’t for the life of me see how losing Kane, Ghost & Sprong gets this done. Put Berggren in because obviously Sprong is walking. But my gosh the other two are hard to replace. With either one do we have as much magic? Because when this team came together and played as best as they could they were very much a magical hockey team to watch.

I actually quite like Yzermans explanation as to why he doesn’t like to keep bringing up these kids and sending them down. Stay there, play well & succeed. One’s gotta hope that at very least Holl & Petry hopefully get moved somehow? Waived, traded, bought out. I don’t know the repercussions of waiving or buying out but can’t be much worse than having them at our blue line. Ghost I hope stays, he plays such a different role on D for us, but I know his asking will be high. One thing that very much made me nervous was Yzermans talk on goaltending. Noted too much pucks went in our net but thought goaltending was good and full team defence was not. Maybe I just took it that way? But I was really hoping to pull a Hail Mary for Swayman or what might a trade for Markstrom look like? Even with Kane we would need another top 6 guy, which is never easy to get. Without Kane the mountain becomes much steeper. Burgers could replace Sprongs numbers but not Kanes. It’ll be very interesting to see what Yzerman actually does here.

Here’s the thing though, right now these are all just our own conjectures about what might happen based of the extremely tight lipped press conference we just heard. I never said anything that wasn’t said, and there are currently two camps after that presser. The ones who think they heard hes hoping to come back then the ones that don’t think he is. We have no real way of knowing. But saying those things weren’t talked about is absolutely crazy on your part. Quite trolly from the one accusing me of picking fights. Kane said how he loved playing with DeBrincat again and that we do have some talented players in our top 6 currently that were fun to play with also but who he would be playing with is something that will need to be talked about. IE if he’s to stay who’s he playing with? if he meant something else please enlighten me

Those were not made up statements, you took comments one way & I took comments another. But that’s the way of the road Rick. I definitely want him back but also wouldn’t be at all surprised if he walked. There’s just so many options for the guy now.

LOL No he wasn’t. He was asked if he thinks Kane is coming back and he said well he did pick to come to Detroit to begin with so why would he not come back is exactly what he was saying.

He actually said “he picked to come here for a reason” while saying why he hopes he also comes back. Much different
