#2428458 Brunner Contract Talks

Posted by 13dangledangle on 07 July 2013 - 12:46 PM

Brunner  has the most deadly shot on the team.  It seemed like 50% of his goals last year were terrific snipes that were placed just right, places other shooters would have been less likely to hit.

And close in around the net, others just jamb away but he lifts it up and through holes.

His defense is underrated.  He is good with his stick, can thief behind, poke and agitate well, and  the smaller ice is much easier for him to cut off passing lanes than it was in Europe.

Too often people mistake skating slowly through shooting lanes for floating.  He is not the guy you want mucking for pucks in the corner.  He is the guy that finds open shooting angles so the corner mucker can get the puck out to him for a one timer.

Even when he has struggled and been ineffective and shut down all game long, he can find that open part of the ice in the chaos of the game's last minute of play, and bury the puck in the back of the net better than anyone else on the team.

While Nyquist, Tatar, and Brunner are very similar players, they are not carbon copy's of each other.  They each have unique strengths and all add value to this team.

I agree with all of this.  I feel Nyquist Tatar Brunner are all totally different players with different skill sets.   Nyquist has the playmaking ability and vision similar to Dastyuk (only other player on our team that natural at it game in and game out) Tatar is hard on the puck and bangs in goals like Crosby does, some are garbage goals some are pretty.  Brunner has speed, good hands and a f*cking bullet of a shot.  All three different and all three important.

You just don't understand....it's BRUNNER! ;)

Correct!  OUR Brunner

Not sure I would agree with this.  Morrow looked very Cleary-esque and appeared to be out of gas much of the time during the Pens' playoff run.

Staying away from both of those guys seems to be the way to go at this point.  Just sign BRUNNER please and thank you  :ok:

#2425280 How much is too much?

Posted by 13dangledangle on 03 July 2013 - 09:10 AM

My answer is based on the single question "How much is too much?"

                      1.  Flip's wanted paycheque is  too much

                      2.  Sammy's never ending injury protecting him from a buyout is too much

                      3.  Burning Holland at the stakes for not signing Lecavalier is too much

#2422126 Nyquist or Tatar

Posted by 13dangledangle on 25 June 2013 - 09:35 AM

If Z or Dats were on the cusp of retiring I'd say keep Nyquist, but given that they'll be around a few years I say move him for a scorer or top flight defenseman.

If Nyquist stayed in the AHL this past season he was the leagues leading scorer (the leader was Pirri with 76 games played & 75 points, Nyquist played 58 games and had 60 points).  When was the last time one of our prospects was atop the AHL leader board?   Gus also reminded me a lot of the magic man this year with the big club, the vision he has and way he moves out there, it seems like a no brainer that he's the real deal.  THEN Tatar in the Calder playoffs lights it up nets 16 goals and 5 assists in 24 games showing we have two elite studs about to suit up (hopefully) for the Wings this coming season but for some reason we want to trade one of them?  Pavs here for four years, Gus is my hope at the moment for taking the torch from him.

I wouldn't trade either one yet, we need to lock up Nyquist here and see what this year brings for those two with a full year on the team.  We are finally getting into a situation to lose the redundant 4th line grinder situation...Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Nyquist, Tatar, Brunner and Andersson looks like a solid foundation.  I really hope we don't lose either one of these two kids, this team is build from the inside and that excites me the most...

#2417563 Datsyuk: I want to sign extension with Wings this summer

Posted by 13dangledangle on 04 June 2013 - 10:23 AM

Datsyuk is like Lids. You dont get a guy like him ever again.

  True this.

Opie do you seriously think Datsyuk is not a once in a lifetime player?  The median seems the be the league has never seen someone with Pav's hands, ever-and thats just about his stick handling... Pavel carried this team many, many times this past season (and seasons past) like only the Yzermans & Lidstroms can, with his timely goals, passes, hits & ninja like take away's.  Just saying if we grow this type of player on trees we are one lucky group...And yes the Datsyuk fan club has arrived wooot wooot

#2416420 Wow... Danny Cleary

Posted by 13dangledangle on 30 May 2013 - 10:17 PM

Go fricking figure.

Will this shut the Cleary cretins up?   Will this get them off his back?

Nawww....Hell, he shoulda been scoring goals even with a broken back.

And don't tell me that was only for the last two games.  Did any of you see him let up?  To all of you Cleary haters out there, move on and get.a.life.  Pick on someone your own size because you'd never ever fit in his skates.

I think he played waaaaay better in the Chicago series oddly enough??!!  Crazy.   However I must say I truly think Clears is awesome, just at this point is not a top 6 player, do we need him around for a fourth liner?  I'd rather sign Clears to a deal then Miller AS long as he stays off the 1st and 2nd lines.  He's an all heart balls to the wall energy guy...Will never ever forget this...

Flip hasn't put up this year, yet...I not thinking about what we are doing with him or his overall performance even until this hockey team has played it's last game.   I think we will win our game on Monday and move on to the WCF, I really hope Val is a big part of that win.   LGW

Cleary has been a beast in front of the net, especially the last couple games. Even if he isn't putting up many points, he has been very valuable on that line

You are correct, in this case I just feel Mule-Fil-Clears was a horrid combo.  It's not Clearys fault that the two big sluggers on that line had zero chemistry...but now he has Fil and Z, time will tell now. he seemed to be gaining a bit of steam so we shall see.  Nothing I would love to see more is "Clutch Clears" again!
