You're comparing the point totals of a stay at home D-man to a two-way D-man. Scoring points is not Ericsson's role on the team. That comparison doesn't make a whole lot of sense. And +/- is far from a reliable stat.
More, DK had 106 minutes of PP time this year, second only to Kronwall among our D-men. Big E had a grand total of 14 minutes of PP time the entire season. So you can see why DK scores more, that's one of his roles on this team. And yet being a 30 pt D-man shouldn't excuse one from bad penalties and bad mistakes. There was more criticism about Kronwall this year than there was about DK which is laughable.
Mantha fever is exactly my point. If we brought him up and he didn't perform well everyone blinded with fever would make excuses for him.
Scotty had a saying for stay at home dmen. They should just stay at home.
i can't believe we're actually arguing how much of an impact Smith would be in our lineup. This should be a true indication of how far away from a Cup we really are. We might as well be arguing how great of a Red Wing Uwe Krupp was.
I just think Smith brings a physical edge to our team and can chip in offensively. Amazing that he got a total of five minutes of PP time with that shot this year and had 3 pp points. Its my opinion that he hasn't been given the chance to grow offensively and maybe that's because of his shortcomings defensively. However it is tough to grow when your D partner is constantly changing and your forced to play a completely different style. Put him in for game 3 and actually play him to add some punch to your team.
Strange thing is he was pretty good when he was younger. Than just dropped off or something. Or other teams gang up our D because, with the exception of a few, none of them seem to handle pressure well
Do you recall who his d partners were? Lindstrom and Rafalski
Ok, can someone explain to me--in a non-biased way without using the word "attitude" or any of its synonyms--why people seem to hate PK sooooo much? Because I *really* struggle to see what is so outrageously offensive about him. I get it--he's similar to B Smitty in that he has immaturity and impulsivity issues, but SO DO A LOT OF PLAYERS. I never see the same vitriol pointed in their direction. Would people seriously not want him on the Wings? Or is he only hated because he's on the Habs? This is an honest question, help me understand.
I hate him because he is a cheap shot artist and a diver. That's why I hate the entire Habs team. They dive constantly and then complain about it. It makes me sick to my stomach. Say what you want about Smith he doesn't dive and he doesn't cheap shot guys. How anyone outside of Montreal can stand Subban is beyond me.
A lot of nyquist and Tatars struggles I think came from being matched up against the stamkos line for much of the night. I'm sure that's a matchup cooper with stick with in tampa's home games. I would imagine Babcock will try to avoid that matchup and maybe try to match Datsyuk's line against them.
As far as the defense goes, someone said we played really bad defensively but I actually thought the opposite. We lost the puck possession game really badly and gave up a lot of shots but I thought everyone was in the right spots, clogging the middle and forcing outside shots that Mrazek didn't have any problems with.
The best news of all is that we have so much to improve but we still got the win. I don't think we'll see a game as lopsided as this one again
If you ever listen to Bill Cosby, he has a saying. Dont ever challenge worse. Things can always get worse
