#2103900 Trade for a new back up?

Posted by robb himself on 23 January 2011 - 02:28 PM

In other words, he has a bigger contract than both of our goalies, will probably sign somewhere else after this season, and has a garbage Sv%.

MacDonald is a better deal, and has played better this season, IMO.

Looking elsewhere for a goalie is why none of you are GMs; you look internally to see what you have and what can be had. Nothing that we can get right now is better as a backup than MacDonald for what we'd have to give up to get them.

1) We don't have cap space for anything more than a bare-minimum goalie, hence the Nabokov contract.

2) We won't give up anything for a goalie that's likely to put up mediocre numbers and be gone after this year.

So this thread can safely be closed, because it would be absolute idiocy to trade for a crap backup when MacDonald has been doing fine.

you are right...why bother trying to have a discussion about anything on these boards...seems to be a waste of time <_<

#2025950 Power Play / Penalty Killing

Why on earth would Bertuzzi ever switch in for Franzen if both are healthy? Holmstrom or Hudler MAYBE, but Franzen is a legit 30-40 goal scorer.

because one might be tired or not clicking or one might have a hot hand that night?

relax...there can be many reasons why someone may switch in and out...

its pretty simple

#2024927 Wings sign Ruslan Salei

Posted by robb himself on 10 August 2010 - 04:30 PM

Lidstrom, Kronwall
Rafalski, Salei
Stuart, Ericsson/Kindl

I like it a lot myself...thoughts?

#2022186 Lets talk third line now

Posted by robb himself on 03 August 2010 - 08:32 PM

its kinda funny that our 3rd line at the start of last season was Leino, Filppula, Williams...
and this year it is Hudler, Modano, Cleary...

so weve basically replaced Leino and Williams with Modano and Hudler!

thats an INCREDIBLE improvement...

yes I know Leino was good for Philly after he left here but he was absolutely HORRIBLE when he was here so this is a drastic improvement

be about it...

#2021702 Bold Predicitions for the 2010-2011 Season

Posted by robb himself on 02 August 2010 - 08:06 PM

Zetterberg and Franzen both reach the 40 goal mark...
Datsyuk reaches the 100 point mark...
Howard reaches the 40 win mark...
We Win The Stanley Cup...
Franzen wins MVP....
Lidstrom retires on top...
we sign Doughty to an 8 mill + offer sheet in the off season...

be about it...

#2011681 Red Wings Making Play for Modano

Posted by robb himself on 07 July 2010 - 12:10 AM

I really hope this turns out to be true! Ive always been a big fan of Modano and I feel he still has a lot of hockey left in him and will really strengthen our 3rd line and 2nd PP unit.

#2005338 2010 NHL Draft Thread

with the addition of Brooks Macek we have now drafted 3 forwards with right handed shots! that really excites me because right handed shots are few and far between in the wings organization

#2003966 Savard to waive no trade clause

Posted by robb himself on 24 June 2010 - 11:35 AM

I dont understand why everytime Cleary is even MENTIONED as a possible trade candidate, that it is assumed we have "a hate on" for the guy...

in order to TRADE you have give up someone!
