#2332815 CHL, Other Junior Leagues Look to Ban Fighting

Posted by F.Michael on 26 October 2012 - 08:12 PM

Hmm...

What would I rather deal with...Taking on a guy like Bob Probert in his prime in a "mano e mano" fight - both as willing combatants...Or taking a blind shot into the boards head 1st from the likes of a Claude Lemieux, or Matt Cooke?

I heard he uses menstruating women as bait....

I'd rather be known as a whiny animal lover than a fan of Jordin Tootoo.

Cool story, whiny animal lover.

#2328725 Abdeklader signs 4 year extension, $1.8m cap hit

This kid is slowly turning into the LGW whipping boy, but I think he's the most underrated player on the team, especially his defensive play.  I'm happy to see him stick around.

Absolutely, positively nothing devalues Team Canada's victory in the Summit Series.

#2313984 Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

Posted by LeftWinger on 03 July 2012 - 08:14 PM

I have a feeling that we are going to love this guy. Iam sure he will play his heart out for our team. Not many on Wings roster are willing to do that.

Well, not Franzine thats for sure...

#2312611 Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

Posted by Wings_Dynasty on 02 July 2012 - 07:48 AM

All this talk about Tootoo being a d-bag on and off the ice and having personal issues doesn't really have any bearing on his "status" with the Wings Fan Kingdom.

Wings fans love our d-bags. Probert is a prime example. He was an off the ice troublemaker and a bit of a cheap-shotting goon later in his career but he is a mythic player to us now. People constantly bring up retiring his number (with Chelios on the banner) because of his reputation as a tough guy. He had his own demons and it seemed like it only added to his persona.

Now that I mention it. Chelios and Wendel Clark. Two guys that joined the Wings at the same time when most fans thought they would NEVER want to see either in a Wings jersey.

Plus, the Wings have a great history with taking a player viewed as down and out and allowing them playing time to thrive. Cleary, Olausson, Fetisov, Eaves, Larry Murphy, and Dallas Drake (who is very much a similar player to Tootoo that everyone loved while he was here). And of course Todd Bertuzzi, who most of the league and fans had gave up on and the Wings picked up TWICE. Now there are people who are so desperate for toughness on the Wings they are deluded enough to consider Bert our enforcer because he wrestled Weber a little. They are so blind to non-hockey related issues to see that the Wings just picked up one of the premiere agitators who can actually fight pretty well.

Bottom line: He's cheap, tough, and can chip in a goal here and there. Give him a chance before you sell all your Wings memorabilia.

#2307763 Why Evander Kane is Worth the Price

Hes a potential superstar that the wings could build around for the future. Much younger than any other option. I wouldnt have any prospect off limits except maybe Smith to get him

I agree 100% with you.

#2305392 Throw the bank at RFA Shea Weber?

Posted by Hatethedrake! on 05 June 2012 - 11:57 AM

If you are such a wimp go watch soccer. As Micky points out time and time again, nothing repeat nothing gets a crowd more worked up than a good fight. Hell the great player in RW history Mr. Hockey himself has a term named after him. The Gordie Howe hat trick. Goal, assist, and a.......... FIGHT! if you don't like a good fight, might I suggest going to watch a polo match, or maybe some gymnastics. Perhaps ballet is in your future.

Oh look another internet tough guy.  Please don't intimidate us by punching us in the face with your space bar.

Good lord, guy, quit taking the steroids.  Good physical hockey is great - gooning it up isn't.  If you like that kind of rough stuff so much, just stick to cage fighting.

#2305317 Does Size Matter in the NHL?

Posted by Richdg on 04 June 2012 - 11:57 PM

I think this is one of those things where size doesn't matter as much as how you use it. I could watch Datsyuk check Chara all day long.

Or you can watch Doan check our whole team into the boards with no reaction like he did a couple years back in the playoffs. Or like the Preds did this playoffs......

#2302992 Excellent 'Parise and Suter to Detroit' article

Posted by sibiriak on 24 May 2012 - 11:38 AM

Parise and Suter could both make 7 million with us still below the cap ceiling.

Perhaps, but there's no way they will both accept such a discount, unless it's for one year only, like Selanne and Kariya once did. But put yourself in their shoes, is Detroit the best place for their one shot at a Cup together? Because at that price (14 mil for both) they can have their pick of ANY NHL team they want. And right now Detroit doesn't look like the team most poised to win the Cup next year.

And to sign them both long-term, the price tag will START at 20 mil.

#2300076 Suter most likely out of Nashville

Posted by Richdg on 08 May 2012 - 12:27 PM

Suter Yes! parise? No thanks. Just don't see it. he is a small sniping forward that is weak on D. Most of us agree that the RW need to be bigger, faster, younger, and grittier. parise costs a ton of money and doesn't solve but half of those problems. How does a guy that scores 35 goals, end up with a -5 rating on a defensive focused team like the devils? Hulder is a 3 million per year player that scores 25 goals. parise is a 6+ million player that scores you 35 goals. Are ten more goals worth 3 million more? No. I would take a Hudler and Jones combo over parise every day of the week, and I am not a fan of Hudler at all. Doan and jones would be even better!

#2296357 We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against

Not sure what the whole big deal about Prust is, he's ok I guess but he's pretty much a worse version of Abdelkader in everything that has to do with the game of hockey.
