#2203758 Compilation of Yzerman Playoff Goals

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 15 August 2011 - 02:10 AM

Almost brings a tear to my eye. He's been my idol since I was 4 years old back in 1988. What a legend. And for my money the greatest hockey player of all time. Could score with the best of them, yet was amazing defensively. The total package player. And he's somehow very modest. Still really miss the guy. I must admit I did shed tears during his retirement ceremony. I just hope one day he returns to the organization. I will always rock my red CCM Yzerman jersey during the playoffs. What a warrior. STEVE YZERMAN FOREVER

#2202960 ISO: Federov Video

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 08 August 2011 - 11:12 PM

Who is Sergei Federov? :P

Not that it's a big deal. But it's always been sort of annoying to see so many ppl misspell this guy's name. I swear I see more "Federov"s than I do "Fedorov"s. And im not talking from random ppl. I'm talking about "Red Wings fans." The guy played here for 13 years and won 3 Stanley Cups and half of us can't even spell the guys name?? Come onnn maaaaaaannnn. lol Must be a bunch of noob Wings fans that started watching in 2008.

#2200818 Your Favorite Red Wing Player

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 24 July 2011 - 11:09 PM

Same here. Also with me, it's all-time favorite athlete as well. I think it's safe to say I'll go to the grave as Yzerman being my all-time favorite. No one will pass "The Captain".

Could not agree more. Steve is by far my favorite athlete of all time and has been my idol since i was 4 years old(1988).

#2198190 Apparently, we were finalists for Vokoun?

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 12 July 2011 - 05:57 PM

I'm annoyed by the notion that no matter what, Jimmy has the #1 spot locked up. If we're choosing between him, Joey Mac, and Ozzie, then yes Jimmy is the #1 for sure. But Vokoun is a different story. If he were a part of the equation, it's only fair to let him and Jimmy battle it out and prove on the ice who deserves the #1 spot. And that's what Kenny should've told Vokoun. Cause if he had, then maybe he would've signed with us. Obviously he's not gonna sign here if he's presented a backup role only. In my eyes, it should ALWAYS be a "may the better man win" situation. Especially with a former all star goalie like Vokoun.

#2190683 Bettman Re-Alignment Proposal

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 28 June 2011 - 03:35 AM

I know we should be in the east in terms of where the state of Michigan is. But I love so many of the rivalries and mini-rivalries we have in the West. I will definitely miss facing western teams on a regular basis. I'm still really hoping we don't move to the East.

#2187969 No, No, NO! Jagr interested in Detroit.

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 22 June 2011 - 03:38 PM

Jagr would be an almost guaranteed 60 point player for us, if not more than that. I have absolutely no problem with signing him to a one year deal. In fact, I'm really crossing my fingers that he'll be a Red Wing next season.

#2176697 Sharks Accuse Canucks of Diving

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 18 May 2011 - 12:52 AM

Setoguchi, Pavelski and Thornton are the most consistent and pathetic divers in the league. So this is obviously quite laughable!

#2176696 Which conference would you rather have the Wings in?

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 18 May 2011 - 12:43 AM

I guess I'm in the minority here. I understand where people are coming from in terms of travel and time zones. But the WC is much deeper overall. Plus, I love and enjoy a lot of our current rivalries and mini-rivalries. Also I dislike many more teams in the west than I do in the east, so for me it makes for more exciting, intense games.

#2158081 What Teams Scare Us Right Now?

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 26 April 2011 - 06:18 AM

This is definitely a 'pick your poison' type of situation. Pros and cons for each team really.

The Sharks: they have a dynamic offense, but their goaltending has been spotty all season long. The Red Wings have an equally dynamic offense, and when healthy are the deeper team. If we stay healthy we should be able to take them out in a 7 game series. Plus, the revenge factor would be an added bonus.

The Preds: they have a very all around solid team. They can put pucks in the net, yet they play good team defense as well. And not only do they have a great goaltender, but also a really good backup in Lindback. But, the Wings have a much more potent offense and a much deeper overall team. And about to get two superstars back (Hank & The Mule). As long as Jimmy plays a solid game, it should be another series victory for the Red Wings.

If I absolutely had to choose one, I guess I would choose the Sharks because my desire for revenge is just too strong. Also, Niemi is mediocre, and obviously goaltending is crucial in the post season.

So for me, as much as I respect what these other teams can do, I also know what we can do. And I'm very confident that the result of playing either of these two teams will be the Red Wings advancing to the WCF.

#2117593 2/17 GDT: Red Wings 6 at Lightning 2

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 17 February 2011 - 08:41 AM

Been obsessed with Steve Yzerman since I was 5 years old (back in 1989). So naturally Tampa Bay instantly became my second favorite NHL team once Stevie took over the reigns. And I've rooted for them all year. But tonight if a different story. GO RED WINGS BABY!!! TAKE IT TO 'EM!!!

#2117187 Will he wont he?

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 16 February 2011 - 07:55 AM

I think Holland said if the d hasn't shown up by the deadline then he will look for a defenseman

I wouldn't mind adding one solid d-man as long as we don't have to give up too much. Would be nice to have some more insurance in case of injury. And to me, Kindl is far from insurance.

#2102926 Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 22 January 2011 - 01:09 PM

I would fully understand and agree with the rule if Nabokov was previously our property. But he wasn't. So really the rule makes no sense.

#2102609 Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 22 January 2011 - 11:20 AM

Only about 40 more minutes left to wait... Please Hockey Gods, just let him become a Red Wing!

Like I said before, what a letdown it would be for Nabokov to think that he's going to the Wings and then get claimed by the Islanders.

I read something last night that said Nabby will refuse to report to a bottom-feeding team. If the Islanders do claim him, he will bow out and just wait till next season to play. And since it seems like he wants to be with the Red Wings, I would assume he'll just sign with us in the offseason as a free agent.

#2029876 Ericsson: "I need to perform this year"

Posted by TheDetroitRedWings on 28 August 2010 - 02:45 AM

He needed to perform last year, and the year before that. I'm pretty annoyed at players that play balls to the wall during their contract year. It gives the impression that they were half-assing it in previous years. I mean I understand that players want to make the most $$ they can. But if you're a professional athlete, getting paid to do your job, you should be playing balls to the wall every night, every season.

That being said, I definitely hope big E kicks it into another gear this season. Even if it's financially motivated, I'll be happy to see the Wings give him a pay raise if he steps it up and plays like a beast. Although it still annoys me that this magical new "gear" didn't exist until potential big $$ comes into the picture.
